Claims
- 1. A compound having the formula, ##STR28## in which: A is selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, 1,1-dimethylethylene, trimethylene, tetramethylene, pentamethylene, hexamethylene, heptamethylene, and octamethylene;
- E is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxymethylene;
- G is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl;
- J is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxymethylene;
- Q is selected from the group consisting of ethylene and vinylene; and
- R is selected from the group consisting of carboxyl, carbomethoxy, and carbethoxy.
- 2. A compound as in claim 1, ##STR29## in which: A is selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, 1,1-dimethylethylene, trimethylene, tetramethylene, pentamethylene, hexamethylene, heptamethylene, and octamethylene;
- E is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxymethylene;
- G is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl;
- J is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxymethylene; and
- R is selected from the group consisting of carboxyl, carbomethyoxy, and carbethoxy.
- 3. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(3".alpha.-hydroxycyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentanone.
- 4. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(3".beta.-hydroxycyclohex-1"-en 1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentanone.
- 5. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(3".alpha.-hydroxy-5", 5"-dimethylcyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentane.
- 6. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)3.beta.-(3".beta.-hydroxy-5",5"-dimethyclyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentanone.
- 7. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(2"-methyl-3".beta.-hydroxycyclopent-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentanone.
- 8. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carboxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(3".alpha.-hydroxycyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-cyclopentanone.
- 9. The compound as in claim 2, 2.beta.-(6'-carboxyhexyl)-3.alpha.-(3"-hydroxycyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-cyclopentanone.
- 10. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.(6'-carboxyhexyl)-3.beta.(3"-hydroxy-5",5"-dimethylcyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-cyclopentanone.
- 11. The compound as in claim 2, 2.beta.-(6'-carboxyhexyl)-3.alpha.(3"-hydroxy-5",5"-dimethylcyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-cyclopentanone.
- 12. The compound as in claim 2, dl-2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(cyclohept-1"-en-1"-yl)cyclopentanone.
- 13. The compound as in claim 2, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbomethoxyhexyl)-3.beta.-(1-cyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxy-cyclopentanone.
- 14. A compound as in claim 1, ##STR30## in which: A is selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, 1,1-dimethylethylene, trimethylene, tetramethylene, pentamethylene, hexamethylene, heptamethylene, and octamethylene;
- E is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxymethylene;
- G is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl;
- J is selected from the group consisting of methylene, .alpha.-hydroxymethylene, and .beta.-hydroxmethylene; and
- R is selected from the group consisting of carboxyl, carbomethoxy, carbethoxy, and carbinol.
- 15. The compound as in claim 14, dl-2.alpha.-(6'-carboxy-2'-hexenyl)-3.beta.-(3"-hydroxycyclohex-1.increment.-yl)cyclopentanone.
- 16. The compound as in claim 14, dl-2.beta.-(6'-carboxy-2'-hexenyl)3.alpha.-(3"-hydroxycyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)cyclopentanone.
- 17. The compound as in claim 14, dl-2.alpha.-(6'-carboxy-cis-2'-hexenyl)-3.beta.-(cyclohex-1"-en-1"-yl)cyclopentanone.
- 18. The compound as in claim 14, dl-2.alpha.-(6'-carboxyhex-cis-2'-enyl)-3.beta.-(cyclooct-1"-en-1"-yl) cyclopentanone.
- 19. The compound as in claim 14, 2.alpha.-(6'-carbethoxy-cis-2'-hexenyl)-3.beta.-(cyclododec-1"-en-1"-yl)-4.alpha.-hydroxycyclopentanone.

This is a continuation-in-part of U.S. Patent application Ser. No. 436,222, filed on Jan. 24, 1974, which in turn is a division of U.S. Patent application Ser. No. 383,670, filed on July 30, 1973; both prior applications are abandoned.
