Claims
- 1. A data print unit for use with a camera using photographic film, comprising:
- an assembled housing including opposing upper and lower frame members defining a lamp chamber therebetween, said lower frame member having a surface attachable to the camera and defining a light transmission hole to project light emitted within said assembled housing onto the photographic film;
- a lamp disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing;
- a printed circuit board disposed partially within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing and receiving said lamp on a first surface thereof, said first surface of said printed circuit board including a connection member mounted thereon and in electrical communication with said lamp, said connection member extending at least partially outside said assembled housing to transmit external electrical signals to said lamp; and
- a mirror disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing opposite said lamp for directing light emitted from said lamp through the light transmission hole of said lower frame member, wherein said upper frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending downwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light therein.
- 2. The data print unit of claim 1, wherein said connection member extends into contact with a matched receiving member disposed on the camera when the camera is attached to said assembled housing.
- 3. The data print unit of claim 1, wherein said lamp comprises a light emitting diode.
- 4. The data print unit of claim 1, wherein the lamp comprises a tungsten bulb.
- 5. The data print unit of claim 1, wherein said connection member and said lamp comprise leaded devices.
- 6. The date print unit of claim 1, wherein said connection member and said lamp comprise surface mount devices.
- 7. The data print unit of claim 1, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light therein.
- 8. A data print unit for use with a camera having an aperture, comprising:
- an assembled housing including opposing upper and lower frame members defining a lamp chamber therebetween, said lower frame member having a surface attachable to the camera and defining a light transmission hole to project light emitted within said assembled housing onto photographic film contained within the camera and a sensor window opposing the camera aperture;
- a lamp disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing;
- a printed circuit board secured within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing and receiving said lamp on a first surface thereof, said printed circuit board including a photosensor mounted on the first surface of said printed circuit board in optical alignment with the sensor window to detect subject light entering the camera aperture;
- a photosensitive circuit in electrical communication with said photosensor and said lamp to illuminate said lamp when said photosensor detects subject light above a predetermined threshold; and
- a mirror disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing opposite said lamp for directing light emitted from said lamp through the light transmission hole of said lower frame member.
- 9. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein said lamp comprises a light emitting diode.
- 10. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein the lamp comprises a tungsten bulb.
- 11. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein said photosensor and said lamp comprise leaded devices.
- 12. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein said photosensor and said lamp comprise surface mount devices.
- 13. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein
- said upper frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending downwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
- 14. The data print unit of claim 13, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
- 15. The data print unit of claim 8, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
- 16. A camera, comprising:
- a camera body having a front surface with a lens and shutter for exposing passing frames of photographic film; and
- a data print unit attached to a back surface of said camera body, comprising:
- an assembled housing including opposing upper and lower frame members defining a lamp chamber therebetween, said lower frame member communicating with the back surface of said camera body and defining a light transmission hole to project light emitted within said assembled housing onto the photographic film;
- a lamp disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing;
- a printed circuit board disposed partially within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing and receiving said lamp on a first surface thereof, said first surface of said printed circuit board including a connection member mounted thereon and in electrical communication with said lamp, said connection member extending at least partially outside said assembled housing to transmit external electrical signals to said lamp; and
- a mirror disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing opposite said lamp for directing light emitted from said lamp through the light transmission hole of said lower frame member, wherein said upper frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending downwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light therein.
- 17. The camera of claim 16, wherein said connection member extends into contact with a matched receiving member disposed on said camera body.
- 18. The camera of claim 16, wherein said lamp comprises a light emitting diode.
- 19. The camera of claim 16, wherein the lamp comprises a tungsten bulb.
- 20. The camera of claim 16, wherein said connection member and said lamp comprise leaded devices.
- 21. The camera of claim 16, wherein said connection member and said lamp comprise surface mount devices.
- 22. The camera of claim 16, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light therein.
- 23. A film camera, comprising:
- a camera body having a front surface with a lens and shutter defining an aperture for exposing passing frames of photographic film; and
- a data print unit attached to a back surface of said camera body, comprising:
- an assembled housing including opposing upper and lower frame members defining a lamp chamber therebetween, said lower frame member defining a light transmission hole to project light emitted within said assembled housing onto the photographic film;
- a lamp disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing;
- a printed circuit board secured within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing and receiving said lamp on a first surface thereof, said printed circuit board including a photosensor mounted on the first surface of said printed circuit board in optical alignment with the shutter aperture to detect subject light;
- a photosensitive circuit in electrical communication with said photosensor and said lamp to illuminate said lamp when said photosensor detects subject light above a predetermined threshold; and
- a mirror disposed within the lamp chamber of said assembled housing opposite said lamp for directing light emitted from said lamp through the light transmission hole of said lower frame member.
- 24. The camera of claim 23, wherein said lamp comprises a light emitting diode.
- 25. The camera of claim 23, wherein the lamp comprises a tungsten bulb.
- 26. The camera of claim 23, wherein said photosensor and said lamp comprise leaded devices.
- 27. The camera of claim 23, wherein said photosensor and said lamp comprise surface mount devices.
- 28. The camera of claim 23, wherein
- said upper frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending downwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
- 29. The camera of claim 28, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
- 30. The camera of claim 23, wherein
- said lower frame member includes a plurality of slit limiting projections extending upwardly into the lamp chamber between said lamp and said mirror to attenuate reflected light within the lamp chamber.
