Claims
- 1. An information processing apparatus comprising:an information inputting section operable to input information external to the information processing apparatus; a first processing section; and a second processing section, wherein the first processing section is operable to produce an output for initiating the second processing section, and to output information to be processed by the second processing section, wherein the second processing section has an operation state and a stop state, in the operation state the second processing section operates in accordance with a clock, in the stop state the second processing section stops operating in accordance with the clock, wherein the first processing section is operable, when the second processing section is in the stop state, to process the information inputted by the information inputting section, to determine whether it is necessary to initiate the second processing section and to provide to the second processing section, if necessary, the output for initiating the second processing section, wherein the second processing section in the stop state is operable to make a transition from the stop state to the operation state based on the output for initiating the second processing section outputted from the first processing section, and wherein the second processing section, once moved into the operation state, is operable to perform a predetermined process based on at least part of the information which is inputted by the information inputting section.
- 2. An information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first processing section is operable, when the second processing section is in the stop state, to provide the output for initiating the second processing section in response to a content of the information inputted by the information inputting section.
- 3. An information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transition from the stop state to the operation state in the second processing section is made by supplying the clock to the second processing section in the stop state.
- 4. An information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the second processing section includes a main processing section operable to perform the predetermined process based on the information output from the first processing section, the main processing section includes a RAM and a register.
- 5. An information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:an outputting section operable to output data for displaying a result of the predetermined process performed by the second processing section.
- 6. An information processing apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising:a display section operable to display the data output from the outputting section, wherein the first processing section is operable to determine whether the information is inputted into the information inputting section during a predetermined period, stop the display section when the first processing section determines that the information is not inputted into the information inputting section during the predetermined period, and initiate the display section when the first processing section determines that the information is inputted into the information inputting section during the predetermined period.
- 7. An information processing apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising:a back light section operable to provide the display section with light, wherein the first processing section is operable to stop the back light section when the first processing section determines that the information is not inputted into the information inputting section during the predetermined period, and initiate the back light section when the first processing section determines that the information is inputted into the information inputting section during the predetermined period.
- 8. The information processing apparatus of claim 1, wherein the second processing section comprises a CPU for executing a program.
- 9. The information processing apparatus of claim 8, wherein the first processing section comprises a first memory, and the second processing section comprises a second memory which is different from the first memory.
- 10. The information processing apparatus of claim 9, wherein a power consumption of the first processing section is smaller than a power consumption of the second processing section.
- 11. The information processing apparatus of claim 10, wherein the second processing section comprises a ROM.
- 12. The information processing apparatus of claim 11, wherein the information apparatus is powered by a battery.
