Claims
- 1. A dot image discrimination device comprising:
- an orthogonal transform device for performing orthogonal transformation of image data in a processing block to send coefficient data;
- a first detection device for detecting a maximum of absolute values in a first discrimination region of the coefficient data comprising AC coefficients around a DC coefficient in the coefficient data;
- a second detection device for detecting a maximum of absolute values of digital cosine transform coefficients in a second discrimination region which does not belong to the first discrimination region;
- a discrimination device for discriminating that an image in the processing block is a dot image if an output value of said second detection device is larger that of said first detection device and is larger than a predetermined threshold value.
- 2. The device according to claim 1, wherein the first discrimination region is one of four equivalent regions obtained by dividing the digital cosine transform coefficient data obtained by the digital cosine transform of the processing block, which first discrimination region being one of the four regions including a DC coefficient, but not including the DC coefficient.
