Claims
- 1. A data recording method for a tape-shaped recording medium in which data is recorded thereon in the form of plural azimuth tracks using a rotary head, the method comprising the steps of:
- discriminating between a first tape recording format and a second tape recording format of the tape-shaped recording medium that is loaded for recording;
- recording hysteresis information for each of a plurality of partitions, each partition having at least a system region and a data region, into the system region of each corresponding partition when the discrimination result indicates that the loaded tape-shaped recording medium is of said first tape recording format; and
- recording said hysteresis information for each of said plurality of partitions into the system region of only a leading side partition when the discrimination result indicates that the loaded tape-shaped recording medium is of said second tape recording format.
- 2. The data recording method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the steps of recording hysteresis information record said hysteresis information as subcode data in the system region.
- 3. The data recording method as claimed in claim 2, further comprising the steps of:
- constituting each of the plural tracks of the tape-shaped recording medium with a main data area and margin areas provided on both sides of the main data area;
- constituting the main data area of each track with plural blocks; and
- constituting each of the plural blocks with an area for recording a synchronization signal, an area for recording subcode data, and an area for recording main data.
- 4. The data recording method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the steps of recording the hysteresis information record said hysteresis information as main data in the system region.
- 5. The data recording method as claimed in claim 4, further comprising the steps of:
- constituting each of the plural tracks of the tape-shaped recording medium with a main data area and margin areas provided on both sides of the main data area;
- constituting the main data area of each track with plural blocks; and
- constituting each of the plural blocks with an area for recording a synchronization signal, an area for recording subcode data, and an area for recording main data.
- 6. A method for recording data on a plurality of azimuth tracks formed on a tape-shaped recording medium having a leading partition and a trailing partition, each partition including a reference region, a system region, a data region, and an end-of-data region, comprising:
- recording a leading partition system log information and a trailing partition system log information in the system region of only the leading partition, thereby reducing the time required for recording/reproducing the system logs of the respective partitions.
