Claims
- 1. A decontamination system for removing contaminants from contaminated surfaces comprising:
a decontamination fluid selected from the group consisting of hydrofluorocarbons and mixtures of hyrdrofluorocarbons, and an absorbent/adsorbent pad.
- 2. A decontamination system as in claim 1 where the contaminated surface is an organ on a living mammal.
- 3. A decontamination system as claim 2 wherein said contaminated surface is human skin.
- 4. A decontamination system as in claim 1 wherein said decontamination fluid is selected from the group consisting of Vertel XF, HFE 7100, HFE 7200, and HFE 7500.
- 5. A decontamination system according to claim 1 wherein said absorbent/adsorbent pad comprises an activated carbon adsorbent.
- 6. A decontamination system according to claim 5 wherein said activated carbon adsorbent comprises a felt fabric.
- 7. A decontamination system comprising:
a decontamination fluid; means for absorbing said decontamination fluid; and means for absorbing contaminants from said decontamination fluid.
- 8. A decontamination system as in claim 7 wherein said decontamination fluid is a hydrofluoroether selected from the group consisting of: Vertel XF, HFE 7100, HFE 7200, and HFE7500.
- 9. A decontamination system as in claim 7 wherein said means for adsorbing contaminants comprises:
an activated carbon felt pad.
- 10. A decontamination system comprising an adsorbent pad at least partially saturated with a decontamination fluid.
- 11. A decontamination system as in claim 10 wherein decontaminates in the fluid is selected from the trays group of Vertel XF, HFE 7100, HFE 7200, and HFE 7500.
- 12. A method for decontaminating an article comprising the steps of:
a). removing bulk contaminant by mechanically scouring; b). applying a decontamination fluid to dissolve contaminants, and; c). adsorbing the contaminant from the decontamination fluid.
