Claims
- 1. An improved shape-sustaining support member for supporting a sheet of flexible, fluid impermeable material in a form so that the sheet of flexible, fluid impermeable material is capable of holding a floral grouping and maintaining a liquid about a stem portion of the floral grouping during transport and display of the floral grouping, the shape-sustaining support member comprising a sheet of flexible material having an upper side with a centrally disposed recess therein, a lower side, a first end portion, and a second end portion, the sheet of flexible material having a substantially semi-circular shape such that upon the first end portion being caused to overlap the second end portion the sheet of material is formed into a substantially frusto-conically shaped member having an open upper end, an open lower end, and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end, the sheet of flexible material having at least one male connector formed on the upper side of the sheet of material on the first end portion thereof so as to protrude a distance away from the upper side and at least one female connector formed on the second end portion of the sheet of material adapted to matingly receive the male connector for securing the first end portion to the second end portion, the improvement comprising:
a plurality of slots extending radially from the centrally disposed recess of the upper side of the sheet of flexible material so as to provide support in a manner that does not crush the stem portion of the floral grouping.
- 2. The improved shape-sustaining support member of claim 1 wherein the female connector is a slot, and wherein the male connector is at least one tab member configured to lockingly engage with the second end portion of the sheet of flexible material when the tab member is inserted through the slot of the second end portion.
- 3. An improved shape-sustaining support member for supporting a sheet of flexible, fluid impermeable material in a form so that the sheet of flexible, fluid impermeable material is capable of holding a floral grouping and maintaining a liquid about stem portions of the floral grouping during transport and display of the floral grouping, the shape-sustaining support member comprising a sheet of flexible material having an upper side with a centrally disposed recess therein, a lower side, a first end portion, and a second end portion, the sheet of material having a substantially semi-circular shape such that upon the first end portion being caused to overlap the second end portion the sheet of flexible material is formed into a substantially frusto-conically shaped member having an open upper end, an open lower end, and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end, the sheet of flexible material having a pair of tab members formed on the upper side of the sheet of material on the first end portion thereof so as to protrude a distance away from the upper side and at least one slot extending through the second end portion of the sheet of flexible material, each of the tab members configured to lockingly engage with the second end portion of the sheet of flexible material when the tab members are inserted through the slot of the second end portion for securing the first end portion of the sheet of flexible material to the second end portion, the improvement comprising:
a plurality of slots extending radially from the centrally disposed recess of the upper side of the sheet of flexible material so as to provide support in a manner that does not crush the stem portion of the floral grouping.
