Claims
- 1. A decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping and adapted to contain a liquid about a stem portion of the floral grouping, the decorative assembly comprising:
a preformed shape-sustaining support member movable between an expanded condition and a flattened condition, in the expanded condition the preformed shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end, a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member and a groove disposed circumferentially about the peripheral sidewall, the peripheral sidewall having creases formed therein to facilitate movement of the preformed shape-sustaining support member between the expanded condition and the flattened condition; a stabilizing member positioned within the groove formed in the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member for stabilizing and maintaining the preformed shape-sustaining support member in the expanded condition; a sheet of fluid impermeable material disposed about the preformed shape-sustaining support member so as to provide a decorative cover which extends about the preformed shape-sustaining support member and cooperates with the internal chamber of the preformed shape-sustaining support member to define a reservoir for confining a liquid, the sheet of fluid impermeable material sized such that when the decorative cover is formed about the preformed shape-sustaining support member, a portion of the decorative cover extends a distance above the open upper end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member; and a securing element for securing the decorative cover about the preformed shape-sustaining support member while maintaining at least a portion of the open upper end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member substantially uncovered by the decorative cover.
- 2. The decorative assembly of claim 1 wherein the stabilizing member comprises an elastomeric member.
- 3. The decorative assembly of claim 2 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is constructed from a polymeric material.
- 4. The decorative assembly of claim 1 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is constructed from a polymeric material.
- 5. A floral holding material comprising:
a preformed shape-sustaining support member movable between an expanded condition and a flattened condition, in the expanded condition the preformed shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end, a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member, the internal chamber adapted to receive at least a portion of stems of a floral grouping, the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member having a circumferentially disposed groove at a position between the open upper end and the closed lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member, the peripheral sidewall having oppositely disposed creases formed therein which extend between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining member to facilitate movement of the preformed shape-sustaining support member between the expanded condition and the flattened condition; and a stabilizing member positionable within the groove formed in the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member for stabilizing and maintaining the preformed shape-sustaining support member in the expanded condition.
- 6. The floral holding material of claim 5 wherein the stabilizing member comprises an elastomeric member.
- 7. The floral holding material of claim 6 wherein the stabilizing member comprises an elastomeric member.
- 8. The floral holding material of claim 5 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is constructed from a polymeric material.
- 9. A floral holding material comprising:
a preformed shape-sustaining support member movable between an expanded condition and a flattened condition, in the expanded condition the preformed shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end, a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member such that, upon positioning a sheet of fluid impermeable material about at least a portion of the floral holding material, the sheet of fluid impermeable material cooperates with the internal chamber of the preformed shape-sustaining support member to define a reservoir adapted to receive at least a portion of stems of a floral grouping and for confining a liquid therein, the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member having a circumferentially disposed groove at a position between the open upper end and the closed lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining support member, the peripheral sidewall having oppositely disposed creases formed therein which extend between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed shape-sustaining member to facilitate movement of the preformed shape-sustaining support member between the expanded condition and the flattened condition; and a stabilizing member positionable within the groove formed in the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member for stabilizing and maintaining the preformed shape-sustaining support member in the expanded condition.
- 10. The floral holding material of claim 9 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is constructed from a polymeric material.
- 11. The floral holding material of claim 9 wherein the stabilizing member comprises an elastomeric member.
- 12. The floral holding material of claim 11 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is constructed from a polymeric material.
