Claims
- 1. A decorative assembly for transporting flowers having a stem portion and a bloom portion, the decorative assembly adapted to receive and maintain a liquid about the stem portion of the flowers during transportation and display of the flowers, the decorative assembly comprising:
- a self-erecting floral container comprising:
- a bottom member;
- a plurality of wall members pivotally connected to the bottom member such that the wall members are movable between a collapsed position wherein the wall members are folded downward into a substantially flattened condition and an erected position wherein the wall members extend from the bottom member so as to cooperate with the bottom member to form an internal chamber adapted to receive a floral grouping;
- resilient biasing means connected to the wall members for biasing the wall members in the erected position, for permitting the wall members to be moved to the collapsed position from the erected position by application of a bias overcoming force exerted on the wall members, and for drawing the wall members from the collapsed position to the erected position when the bias overcoming force is removed from the wall members; and
- a sheet of fluid impermeable material connected to the bottom member such that when the wall members are moved to the erected position, the sheet of fluid impermeable material is wrappable about the side walls to provide a decorative cover about the self-erecting floral holding container.
- 2. The decorative assembly of claim 1 further comprising:
- means for forming a crimped portion in the sheet of fluid impermeable material with the crimped portion cooperating the hold the sheet of fluid impermeable material about the self erecting floral container.
- 3. The decorative assembly of claim 2 wherein the sheet of fluid impermeable material is further defined as having an upper surface and a lower surface and wherein the means for forming the crimped portion comprises a bonding material disposed on at least a portion of one of the upper and lower surfaces of the sheet of fluid impermeable material.
- 4. The decorative assembly of claim 3 wherein the bonding material is an adhesive.
- 5. The decorative assembly of claim 3 wherein the bonding material is a cohesive.
- 6. The decorative assembly of claim 2 wherein the means for forming the crimped portion is disposed near the open upper end of the self-erecting floral container when the sheet of fluid impermeable material is wrapped about the self erecting floral container.
- 7. The decorative assembly of claim 1 wherein the biasing means comprises:
- a bracket disposed in the internal chamber and having a bracket opening; and
- a plurality of elastic members, each of the elastic members extending between the bracket and a corresponding wall member.
- 8. The decorative assembly of claim 7 further comprising:
- means for forming a crimped portion in the sheet of fluid impermeable material with the crimped portion cooperating the hold the sheet of fluid impermeable material about the self erecting floral container.
- 9. The decorative assembly of claim 8 wherein the sheet of fluid impermeable material is further defined as having an upper surface and a lower surface and wherein the means for forming the crimped portion comprises a bonding material disposed on at least a portion of one of the upper and lower surfaces of the sheet of fluid impermeable material.
- 10. The decorative assembly of claim 9 wherein the bonding material is an adhesive.
- 11. The decorative assembly of claim 9 wherein the bonding material is a cohesive.
- 12. The decorative assembly of claim 8 wherein the means for forming the crimped portion is disposed near the open upper end of the self-erecting floral container when the sheet of fluid impermeable material is wrapped about the self erecting floral container.
- 13. A decorative assembly for a floral grouping, comprising:
- a floral holding material having an open upper end, a lower end and an outer peripheral surface, the floral holding material being constructed of a substantially waterproof flexible material capable of supporting the floral grouping without any pot means;
- a sheet of fluid impermeable material disposed adjacent to the outer peripheral surface of the floral holding material such that a portion of the sheet of fluid permeable material extends above the open upper end of the floral holding material; and
- means for forming a crimped portion in the sheet of fluid impermeable material with the crimped portion cooperating to hold the sheet of fluid impermeable material about the floral holding material to provide a decorative covering and to provide a reservoir in the floral holding material capable of holding a fluid.
- 14. The decorative assembly of claim 13 wherein the crimped portion is defined further as being disposed near the open upper end of the floral holding material.
- 15. The decorative assembly of claim 13 where the crimped portion is defined further as being disposed above the open upper end of the floral holding material.
