DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention provides a decorative covering for a chain link fence post to aesthetically upgrade the exposed fence post of a chain link fence. The present invention provides a two-piece apparatus so that the fence post of the chain link fence can be fully covered without having to remove the fence panels of the chain link fence. As shown in FIGS. 1, 2, 6, and 7, the present invention comprises a first post cover 1, a second post cover 11, a plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9, a plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10, a left interlocking mechanism 16, and a right interlocking mechanism 17.

In reference to the general configuration of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1-3, the first post cover 1 and the second post cover 11 function as the lateral cover pieces that fully enclose the fence post. The plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 and the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 are oppositely positioned of each other about a sagittal plane 2 of the first post cover 1. As a result, the first cover post is able to cover one side of the fence post while the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 and the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 are able to engage with the fence panels that outwardly extend from the fence post. More specifically, the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 terminally traversing into the first post cover 1. The plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 terminally traversing into the first post cover 1 opposite of the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9. The first post cover 1 and the second post cover 11 are attached to each other by the left interlocking mechanism 16 and the right interlocking mechanism 17 thus enabling the fence post to be fully enclosed within the first post cover 1 and the second post cover 11.

In reference to FIGS. 4-5, the first post cover 1 may comprise a first body 3, a first left edge 7, and a first right edge 8. The first body 3 delineates the shape of the first post cover 1 and designed to cover the rear side, the left side, and the right side of the fence post. The first left edge 7 and the first right edge 8 are oppositely positioned of each other about the sagittal plane 2 and determine the terminal edges of the first post cover 1. The plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 traverses into the first post body from the first left edge 7 so that the first body 3 can extend past a left chain panel as the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 engages with the left chain panel. Similarly, the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 traverses into the first post body from the first right edge 8 so that the first body 3 can extend past a right chain panel as the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 engages with the right chain panel. Furthermore, the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 is evenly distributed along the first right edge 8 and the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 is evenly distributed along the first left edge 7 to properly aligned with the link-pattern of the existing fence panels.

In reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the first body 3 is preferably an elongated three-sided cover that covers the rear side, the left side, and the right side of the fence post. More specifically, the first body 3 may comprise a first face panel 4, a left lateral panel 5, and a right lateral panel 6. The first face panel 4 is perpendicularly positioned to the sagittal plane 2 and covers the rear side of the fence post. The left lateral panel 5 and the right lateral panel 6 are oppositely positioned of each other about the sagittal plane 2. The left lateral is perpendicularly and terminally connected to the first face panel 4 and covers the left side of the fence post. Resultantly, the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 traverses into the left lateral panel 5 from the first left edge 7 thus allowing the left lateral panel 5 to extend beyond the left fence panel. The right lateral panel 6 is perpendicularly and terminally connected to the first face panel 4 and covers the right side of the fence post. Resultantly, the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 traverses into the right lateral panel 6 from the first right edge 8 thus allowing the right lateral panel 6 to extend beyond the right fence panel.

In reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the second post cover 11 may comprise a second body 12, a second left edge 14, and a second right edge 15. The second body 12 delineates the shape of the second post cover 11 and designed to cover the front side of the fence post. The second left edge 14 and the second right edge 15 are oppositely positioned of each other about the sagittal plane 2 and determine the terminal edges of the second post cover 11.

In reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the second body 12 is preferably an elongated one-sided cover that covers the front side of the fence post. More specifically, the second face panel 13 is perpendicularly positioned to the sagittal plane 2 and covers the front side of the fence post. Due to the shape of the second face panel 13, the second left edge 14 and the second right edge 15 are linearly aligned with the left lateral panel 5 and the right lateral panel 6 to complete a rectangular shaped decorative cover for the chain link fence post.

In reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the left interlocking mechanism 16 and the right interlocking mechanism 17 may each comprise at least one first fastener 18 and at least one second fastener 19 so that the first post cover 1 and the second post cover 11 can be attached to each other. More specifically, the first fastener 18 of the left interlocking mechanism 16 is terminally integrated onto the first body 3 and positioned adjacent to the first left edge 7. The first fastener 18 of the right interlocking mechanism 17 is terminally integrated onto the first body 3 and positioned adjacent to the first right edge 8. The second fastener 19 of the left interlocking mechanism 16 is terminally integrated onto the second body 12 and positioned adjacent to the second left edge 14. The second fastener 19 of the right interlocking mechanism 17 is terminally integrated onto the second body 12 and positioned adjacent to the second right edge 15.

In reference to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the first fastener 18 of the left interlocking mechanism 16 is removably engaged with the second fastener 19 of the left interlocking mechanism 16 about the left lateral panel 5. The first fastener 18 of the right interlocking mechanism 17 is removably engaged with the second fastener 19 of the right interlocking mechanism 17 about the right lateral panel 6. As a result, the first face panel 4 of the first body 3 is positioned parallel the second face panel 13 of the second body 12.

Preferably, a L-shaped locking-clip is utilized as the second fastener 19, and a V-shaped locking-clip is utilized as the first fastener 18 so that the L-shaped locking-clip can be attached to the V-shaped locking-clip as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. However, the V-shaped locking-clip and the L-shaped locking-clip are not intended to limit the present invention as the forementioned shape and structure of the left interlocking mechanism 16 and the right interlocking mechanism 17 are described as an embodiment. The present invention can utilize other embodiment such as adhesive strips, mechanical fasteners, clip fasteners, male and female fasteners, or any other types of industry standard fasteners as the left interlocking mechanism 16 and the right interlocking mechanism 17.

It is important to note that the present invention can be designed to cover different embodiments of the chain link fences. More specifically, the present invention can be designed so that the plurality of left chain-link receiving openings 9 and the plurality of right chain-link receiving openings 10 are designed and spaced to accommodate for American standard wire mesh spacing from ⅜ inch to 3 ½ inch or European standard wire mesh spacings from 50 x 2.5 millimeter to 50 x 3.55/3.5 millimeters. Note that the listed dimensions are not intended to limit the present invention as any dimensions of chain link fence can be accommodated by the present invention. Furthermore, the present invention can optionally be used as support for attaching sidings and/or boards to cover the chain link fence.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
