1. Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to a decorative film and a shell incorporating the same.
2. Description of Related Art
Shells for portable electronic devices are usually decorated with patterns to improve the aesthetic appearance. The patterns may be directly printed/coated on the exterior surface of the shells. However, the printed/coated patterns can be difficult and costly to achieve a three-dimensional appearance.
Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.
Many aspects of the new housing and method for fabricating the same can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the new housing and method for fabricating the same. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The first decorative layer 11 can be of any color and transparency degree and define a plurality of first decorative holes 112 therethrough. Each of the first decorative holes 112 can have a different shape and all the holes 112 as a group can be arranged in various patterns, such as a circular pattern, a triangular pattern or a rectangular pattern.
The second decorative layer 12 can be of any color and transparency degree. However, the color of the second decorative layer 12 is different from the first decorative layer 11. A plurality of second decorative holes 122 are defined through the second decorative layer 12. The second decorative holes 122 as a group may have substantially the same arrangement as the first decorative holes 112, while the first decorative holes 112 can be displaced relative to and above the second decorative holes 122. As such, each second decorative hole 122 aligns below the portion between each two adjacent first decorative holes 112. The second decorative layer 12 can be hot-formed on the surface of the first decorative layer 11.
Due to different colors of the first decorative layer 11 and the second decorative layer 12 and the arrangement of the first decorative holes 112 relative to the second decorative holes 122, the decorative film 10 has a three-dimensional appearance.
It is to be understood, however, that even through numerous characteristics and advantages of exemplary embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
