Abstract
A necktie ornament apparatus, the apparatus comprising: a jewel housing, the jewel housing being a semi-ring shape with one flat portion and a rounded portion, wherein the flat portion is in communication with the rounded portion to form a semi-ring shape and the rounded portion has a center channel running longitudinally, wherein the center channel contains at least one jewel. There may also be an attachment bar running parallel to the flat portion to retain the necktie ornament or an attachment means for added stability.
Description

The present invention relates generally to decorative jewelry, and more specifically to decorative jewelry for neckwear.

Neckties are often used to display ornaments and jewelry. The most common form of ornaments are tie pins and a tie bar. The reason these forms of jewelry are most common is that they are easy to attach to the tie. However, they are usually towards the bottom half of the tie, which is less visible. It would be desirable to have an ornament that is towards the top of the tie near the knot, but does not replace the knot. The problem, though, is making sure that the jewelry is secure and does not fall off of the tie.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,134,861 by Koven depicts a prior art ornament for a neck tie. As shown, a connecting portion serves to join an anterior portion and posterior portion, which extend downwardly in generally parallel relationship. A single diamond or jewel may be displayed on the middle of the knot in this manner. However, the anterior portion is visible and hangs over the top of the knot. It would be desirable to provide an ornament that highlights the jewels and does not show the manner in which it is attached in such a visible manner.

Other prior art includes neckwear devices having utilitarian as well as ornamental use, such as U.S. Pat. No. 1,093,516, to Winterhalter, et al., entitled Display Device or Badge and U.S. Pat. No. 2,121,402, to Knoebel, Jr., entitled Necktie Holder. The Knoebel patent teaches a collar button-mounted pin for supporting a necktie. U.S. Pat. No. 4,173,793, to Yosui, entitled Knot Retaining Implement for Necktie or Scarf, provides knot and tie tack retention. Design Pat. No. 26,727, to Smith, entitled Design for a Necktie Retainer, illustrates an ā€œsā€-shaped tie clip, apparently engageable with a necktie by spring action.

Design Pat. No. 25,771, to Hennessy, entitled Necktie Holder; and Design Pat. No. 156,634, to Lang, entitled Tie Clip or Similar Article lock interchangeable display devices and are retained by spring action. U.S. Pat. No. 556,080, to Ashby, entitled Scarf Ring, teaches a scarf pin having a reciprocating motor (air, spring, or electric) for actuating a pin-mounted figure.

The prior art, though, fails to disclose a necktie ornament that provides a more than one jewel, is securely attached to the tie, yet does not have any protruding attachment parts.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to necktie ornaments, and more specifically to a necktie ornament that displays more than one jewel, is securely attached to the tie and does not have any protruding attachment parts.

According to one embodiment, a necktie ornament apparatus is disclosed, the apparatus comprising: a jewel housing, wherein the jewel housing is a semi-ring shape with a flat portion and a rounded portion, wherein the flat portion is solid and in communication with the rounded portion to form the semi-ring shape and the rounded portion has a center channel running longitudinally, wherein the center channel contains at least one jewel.

According to another embodiment, a necktie ornament apparatus, the apparatus comprising: a jewel housing, wherein the jewel housing is a semi-ring shape with one flat portion and a rounded portion, wherein the flat portion is solid and in communication with the rounded portion to form the semi-ring shape and the rounded portion has at least one center channel running longitudinally, wherein the center channel contains at least one row of jewels; and an attachment bar running parallel to the flat portion.

A necktie ornament apparatus, the apparatus comprising: a jewel housing, wherein the jewel housing is a semi-ring shape with one flat portion and a rounded portion, wherein the flat portion is solid and in communication with the rounded portion to form the semi-ring shape and the rounded portion has at least one center channel running longitudinally, wherein the center channel has a setting and contains at least one row of jewels and the rounded portion is further comprised of a lip portion in substantially perpendicular communication with the center channel and a longitudinal opening along the inside of the apparatus; an attachment bar running parallel to the flat portion; and a hinge for opening and closing the apparatus.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

A necktie ornament apparatus, the apparatus comprising: a jewel housing (10), wherein the jewel housing (10) is a semi-ring shape with one flat portion (12) and a rounded portion, (14) wherein the flat portion (12) is solid and in communication with the rounded portion (14) to form the semi-ring shape and the rounded portion (14) has a center channel (16) running longitudinally, wherein the center channel (16) contains at least one jewel (18). The jewel housing may be made of metal including gold, silver, platinum or any other material known within the art as being suitable for use within jewelry. It may also have any finish including matt finish, sand finish, dull finish and smooth polished.

The at least one jewel (18) may be a diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphire, amethyst, or any other gemstone. This may include minerals, rocks or petrified materials. It may be of any quality, clarity, color or cut. The diamonds may be down the center or the channel may be on the side.

The rounded portion (14) may be further comprised of a lip portion (20) in substantially perpendicular communication with the center channel (16). The rounded portion (16) may also have a longitudinal opening (22) along the inside (24) of the apparatus. As shown, the at least one jewel (18) is at least ten princess cut diamonds in a straight row. Each jewel has a cut, and the cut may be any cut known within the art including round, princess, buggete, tapper, oval, emerald, pear, radiant, heart and Marquise. There may be more than one row. There center channel may be further comprised of a setting. The setting may be prong, pave, pressure, tension, channel, invisible round, invisible princess and nick.

There may also be an attachment bar (26) running parallel to the flat portion (12). There may also be a hinge (28) for opening and closing the apparatus. Also, there may be an attachment means. The attachment means may be selected from the group consisting of a hook, pin and clasp. As shown, the hook (30) helps to secure the necktie ornament to the necktie.

As shown in FIG. 6, it is envisioned that there may be at least one center channel running longitudinally. As shown in FIG. 6, there are three center channels (32, 34 and 36), but it is envisioned that there may be any number of center channels without departing from the present invention. There may also be an additional ornament (38, 40) as shown along the center channel as being prominently displayed. The decoration may be a set of stones, metals or even a hanging ornament. A hanging ornament may include a charm.

This description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
