Claims
- 1. A hydrogen resistant optical waveguide fiber comprising:a central core region surrounded by and in contact with a clad region, both of said core region and said clad region comprising a silica based glass; wherein said fiber exhibits less than 0.05 dB/km increased attenuation at 1530 nm after exposure to a 1% hydrogen atmosphere for 6 days without a hermetic coating applied to said fiber.
- 2. The fiber of claim 1, wherein said fiber exhibits less than 0.03 dB/km increased attenuation at 1530 nm after exposure to a 1% hydrogen atmosphere for 6 days.
- 3. The fiber of claim 1, wherein said fiber exhibits less than 0.01 dB/km increased attenuation at 1530 nm after exposure to a 1% hydrogen atmosphere for 6 days.
