Claims
- 1. A defibrillator having multiple modes, comprising:
a concealed mode changing switch; and a door operably coupled to the switch wherein the switch can be activated with the door in a closed position to change from a first mode to a second mode.
- 2. The defibrillator of claim 1, wherein the first mode is an AED mode and the second mode is manual mode.
- 3. The defibrillator of claim 2, wherein the door conceals second mode user commands.
- 4. The defibrillator of claim 3, wherein the door has a plurality of apertures for access to first mode user commands.
- 5. The defibrillator of claim 4, wherein the door has an actuator in communication with the mode changing switch.
- 6. The defibrillator of claim 5, wherein the actuator comprises a latch and a bump.
- 7. The defibrillator of claim 6, wherein the switch is accessible when the door is closed.
- 8. The defibrillator of claim 7, wherein the second mode user commands are push buttons.
- 9. The defibrillator of claim 1, wherein the mode changing switch can send the defibrillator from first to second mode until further user input puts the defibrillator in the first mode.
- 10. The defibrillator of claim 9, wherein the user input comprises powering down then powering up the defibrillator.
- 11. A defibrillator having a first and second mode, comprising:
a concealed mode changing switch; and a door that is operably coupled to the switch, the switch being able to send the defibrillator from first to second mode until further user input puts the defibrillator in the first mode.
- 12. The defibrillator of claim 11, wherein the user input comprises powering down then powering up the defibrillator.
- 13. The defibrillator of claim 11, wherein the door conceals second mode user commands.
- 14. The defibrillator of claim 13, wherein the door has a first and a second side with first mode user commands located on the first side, and second mode user commands on the second side thereof.
- 15. The defibrillator of claim 14, wherein the first mode is an AED mode and second mode is a manual mode.
- 16. The defibrillator of claim 15, wherein the second mode user commands are push buttons.
- 17. A defibrillator having a first and a second mode, comprising:
a concealed mode changing switch; and a door capable of triggering the mode changing switch, wherein the door conceals second mode user commands when the door is closed and the mode changing switch sends the defibrillator into the second mode whenever a motion is associated with the door.
- 18. The defibrillator of claim 17, wherein the user commands are buttons.
- 19. The defibrillator of claim 18, wherein the first mode is an AED mode and the second mode is a manual mode.
- 20. The defibrillator of claim 19, wherein the motion is the unlatching of the door.
- 21. The defibrillator of claim 19, wherein the motion is opening of the door.
- 22. An external defibrillator comprising:
manual command buttons for operating the defibrillator in a manual mode; AED command buttons for operating the defibrillator in an AED mode; and a door coupled to the defibrillator for covering said manual command buttons and revealing said AED command buttons.
- 23. The defibrillator of claim 22, wherein the door comprises a plurality of apertures for revealing said AED command buttons.
- 24. The defibrillator of claim 23, further comprising a mode changing switch covered by said door when said door is closed.
- 25. The defibrillator of claim 24, wherein the door further comprises an actuator for giving access to the switch when the door is closed.
- 26. The defibrillator of claim 25, wherein the switch is activated when opening said door.
- 27. The defibrillator of claim 22, wherein the door comprises a first and second side, wherein said AED command buttons are located on said first side and said manual command buttons are located on said second side.
- 28. The defibrillator of claim 27, further comprising a mode changing switch that is activated when opening said door.
- 29. A method of using a defibrillator having a mode changing door, the method comprising:
placing the defibrillator in a first mode upon power up of the defibrillator, placing the defibrillator in a second mode upon opening the mode changing door, and returning the defibrillator to the first mode upon powering down and then powering up the defibrillator.
- 30. The defibrillator of claim 29, whereby closing the mode changing door in any mode does not place the defibrillator in a different mode.
- 31. The defibrillator of claim 29, wherein the first mode is an AED mode and the second mode is a manual mode.
