Claims
- 1. A degassing device for a device having a housing with at least one worm rotatable in the housing about the axis of the worm for moving material having an evaporable constituent in the housing with the worm upon rotation of the worm, comprising:
- a device having a housing with at least one worm rotatable in the housing about the axis of the worm for moving material having an evaporable constituent in the housing with the worm upon rotation of the worm;
- a degassing passage in the housing, the degassing passage having an axis prependicular to its cross section which is perpendicular to the axis of the worm;
- a rotatable conveyor roll in the degassing passage with the axis of the conveyor roll parallel to the axis of the worm and first and second passageways between opposite sides of the conveyor roll and the adjacent portions of the housing defining the degassing passage;
- a scraper on the housing with a scraper edge resting along the circumference of the conveyor roll for closing the second passageway and scraping the material from the conveyor roll upon rotation of the conveyor roll, the scraper edge resting along the circumference of the conveyor roll at about the level of the axis of the conveyor roll from the axis of the worm and so transversely of the axis of the worm that, when the device is oriented with the scraper above the worm, the material scraped from the conveyor roll can fall down to the worm for the movement thereby; and
- means for rotating the covneyor roll such that its portion closest to the axis of the worm rotates toward the scraper.
- 2. Degassing device according to claim 1, characterized in that the free surface evaporation area of the material in the housing at the degassing passage is more than about 40% of the area of the cross section of the degassing passage and in that the area of the minimum gas passage about the conveyor roll in the degassing passage amounts to at least about 0.1 times the area of the cross section of the degassing passage.
- 3. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein the conveyor roll is rotatable in the opposite directional sense to the worm.
- 4. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein the minimum gas passage cross-section amounts to at least about 0.15 times the degassing cross-section.
- 5. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein the return delivery device comprises a conveyor roll in the degassing passage with roll axis substantially perpendicular to the passage axis, said conveyor roll conveys towards the worm chamber.
- 6. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein the return delivery device is heatable, preferably by conducting of heating medium through a housing wall internal space of a double-walled housing of the return delivery device.
- 7. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein the conveyor roll diameter amounts to about 0.4 to 0.9 times the clear distance between the longitudinal side walls of the degassing passage.
- 8. Degassing device according to claim 7, wherein the clear distance between the longitudinal side wall of the passageway directly preceding the worm chamber in the roll rotation direction and the roll circumference amounts to about 0.1 to 0.4 timesthe roll diameter.
- 9. Degassing device according to claim 1, wherein a suction attachment on the worm housing covers the external degassing passage end and is connected to a vacuum suction device.
- 10. Degassing device according to claim 9, wherein the suction attachment comprises a vacuum duct for a drive shaft coupled with a drive motor and driving the return delivery device.
- 11. Degassing device according to claim 10, wherein the drive shaft is rigidly connected with the conveyor worm shaft.
- 12. Degassing device according to claim 10, wherein the drive shaft is connected with a shaft of the conveyor roll through a gearing.
