Abstract
A wig includes a cap, a plurality of hair wefts and an internal layer adjacent a user's head. The cap is formed from an expandable material. The hair wefts are attached to the cap in a particular pattern. The internal layer is located internally within the cap to protect the user's head. To make the wig, a user locates the material for the cap on a surface, ideally a scalp of a person who will wear it or a mannequin. The scalp is measured. The hair wefts are attached. A user may optionally locate one or more clips or combs to secure the wig to a user when complete. When making the wig on a user's head, a secondary cap may be located between the cap and the user's head for protection.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention

The present application relates to a wig.


2. Description of Related Art

The fashion industry is constantly changing. People use wigs for various reasons. An individual may do so for solely personal reasons as a way to change appearance. Others may do so as a feeling of necessity due to an illness which caused a loss of hair. Medical reasons, personal reasons, and the like are all reasons people use wigs.


Wigs are typically sized to a range of sizes. Some try to be a one size fits all solution but typically fail. A trick with wigs is the need to have it sized to the head. Standard sizes are difficult to fit appropriately to one's scalp and can shift over time.


There are some drawbacks to conventional wigs and how they are made. Besides being set to standard head sizing, some wigs are uncomfortable because the can result in the drying of the scalp and hair.


Although strides have been made, shortcomings remain. It is desired that a wig be provided that is capable of being formed to match the contour of one's head and protects the scalp from damage.


BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present application to provide a designer wig that is configured to provide relief from damage to one's own natural head of hair caused by chemicals and the harsh environment. It is also configured to protect the scalp and hair from drying out. It is desired to be light weight and fit multiple sizes of heads.


It is a further object of the present application that the wig further promote hair growth. It may be used repeatedly and during different activities, such as swimming, with a swim cap for example.


Ultimately the invention may take many embodiments. In these ways, the present invention overcomes the disadvantages inherent in the prior art. The more important features have thus been outlined in order that the more detailed description that follows may be better understood and to ensure that the present contribution to the art is appreciated. Additional features will be described hereinafter and will form the subject matter of the claims that follow.


Many objects of the present application will appear from the following description and appended claims, reference being made to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts in the several views.


Before explaining at least one embodiment of the present invention in detail, it is to be understood that the embodiments are not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The embodiments are capable of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.


As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the various purposes of the present design. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present application.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Illustrative embodiments of the preferred embodiment are described below. In the interest of clarity, not all features of an actual implementation are described in this specification. It will of course be appreciated that in the development of any such actual embodiment, numerous implementation-specific decisions must be made to achieve the developer's specific goals, such as compliance with system-related and business-related constraints, which will vary from one implementation to another. Moreover, it will be appreciated that such a development effort might be complex and time-consuming but would nevertheless be a routine undertaking for those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of this disclosure.


In the specification, reference may be made to the spatial relationships between various components and to the spatial orientation of various aspects of components as the devices are depicted in the attached drawings. However, as will be recognized by those skilled in the art after a complete reading of the present application, the devices, members, apparatuses, etc. described herein may be positioned in any desired orientation. Thus, the use of terms to describe a spatial relationship between various components or to describe the spatial orientation of aspects of such components should be understood to describe a relative relationship between the components or a spatial orientation of aspects of such components, respectively, as the embodiments described herein may be oriented in any desired direction.

Several embodiments of the assembly may be presented herein. It should be understood that various components, parts, and features of the different embodiments may be combined together and/or interchanged with one another, all of which are within the scope of the present application, even though not all variations and particular embodiments are shown in the drawings. It should also be understood that the mixing and matching of features, elements, and/or functions between various embodiments is expressly contemplated herein so that one of ordinary skill in the art would appreciate from this disclosure that the features, elements, and/or functions of one embodiment may be incorporated into another embodiment as appropriate, unless otherwise described.


Referring now to the Figures wherein like reference characters identify corresponding or similar elements in form and function throughout the several views. The following Figures describe embodiments of the present application and its associated features. With reference now to the Figures, embodiments of the present application are herein described. It should be noted that the articles “a”, “an”, and “the”, as used in this specification, include plural referents unless the content clearly dictates otherwise.


Referring now to FIGS. 1-4 in the drawings, assorted views of designer wig 101 are illustrated. FIG. 4 illustrates steps of a method of making wig 101. This wig 101 includes a foundation made from a stretchable lace material (stockings or tights), namely a cap 103. Hair 105 is coupled to an outer layer of cap 103 by one or more processes described herein.


Cap 103 can be formed from one or more types of materials. The materials are ideally stretchable in nature and allow for a measure of compressibility as stretched around a surface. This aids in it being able to hug or grasp onto a surface, like a head. To manufacture, the material (cap 103) is located on a head of a wearer or mannequin 99 and is configured to stretch around it so as to conform to the shape of the head or mannequin. A certain amount of hair wefts 105 are attached with one or more attachment devices such as an adhesive 108 like a glue, or a needle and thread, wherein a stitching 110 is created, in a natural hair growth pattern. It is important to make sure that there is no hair sticking out from underneath the lace or stretchable material of cap 103. Starting at the nape of the cap, the user may follow any pattern desired to lay and attach hair 105. A user may place the hair 105 that is on the weft to the cap 103 and work his/her way up to the occipital area of cap 103. Next, start to apply the hair 105 in a circular pattern (or other pattern) until the crown of the cap is reached. FIG. 3 is useful at this point as it shows a side section view of wig 101. Hair 105 has been removed for clarity.


Wig 101 may be configured to be manufactured on a mannequin 99 or on a person's head. When creating while it is being worn on a person, it is important to ensure that the extra step of locating a secondary cap on the user's head is performed. The secondary cap can be made of plastic and is configured to conform to the shape of the user's head and also provide protection from adhesive sticking to the user's current hair or scalp. An advantage to weaving the wig 101 on the user's head is that the weave and wig 101 will be formed to the user's head and sizing and shaping will not therefore be an issue. The secondary cap is not coupled permanently to cap 103. It is to serve as protection to the user primarily.


An optional step may also include the application of one or more wig combs 107 or wig clips 109 to avoid lifting or shifting of the wig 101 during weaving. The clips/combs would be secured between the cap and the user. Additionally, a user may elect to include an internal layer 111 to the cap that resides between the user and the cap. The internal layer 111 may be of any material, such as a satin or silk material. The design pattern of the material is not limiting to the invention. Internal layer 111 may cover any portion on an interior of cap 103.


A purpose of internal layer 111 is that it acts to hide glue and extra stitching in the cap 103 and enhances the appearance of the wig 101. Furthermore, this also protects the scalp and the hair of the user from any abrasiveness that may exist from the weave, adhesive, or cap; or any combination of such. This also assists in helping to maintain the natural oils in the user's actual hair and prevent drying out of the hair and scalp. Olive oil may be placed in the hair of the wig 101 to keep it soft and manageable as it does not have the natural oils of the body to keep it looking healthy.


The user is able to form their own cap by first measuring around their hairline in a circumference, followed by measurements over the head from ear to ear, and any other measurements needed to properly size the cap. The process utilizes a needle, thread, possibly a wig 101 clip and/or comb, some adhesive, and a cap. Optionally, an internally layer of material may be used. This internal layer may be secured to the cap with any of the thread and/or adhesive.


The particular embodiments disclosed above are illustrative only, as the application may be modified and practiced in different but equivalent manners apparent to those skilled in the art having the benefit of the teachings herein. It is therefore evident that the particular embodiments disclosed above may be altered or modified, and all such variations are considered within the scope and spirit of the application. Accordingly, the protection sought herein is as set forth in the description. It is apparent that an application with significant advantages has been described and illustrated. Although the present application is shown in a limited number of forms, it is not limited to just these forms, but is amenable to various changes and modifications without departing from the spirit thereof.

Claims
  • 1. A wig, comprising: a cap configured to expand and generate a compressive force on a surface opposite the expansion;a plurality of hair wefts coupled to the cap; andan internal layer coupled to an interior of the cap;wherein the plurality of hair wefts cover an outer area of the cap.
  • 2. The wig of claim 1, wherein the plurality of hair wefts are coupled to the cap through the use of an adhesive.
  • 3. The wig of claim 1, wherein the plurality of hair wefts are coupled to the cap through a plurality of stitching.
  • 4. The wig of claim 1, further comprising: a clip to secure the location of the cap, the clip coupled in an interior of the cap.
  • 5. The wig of claim 1, further comprising: a comb configured to secure the location of the cap, the comb coupled in an interior of the cap.
  • 6. The wig of claim 1, wherein the internal layer is a silk material.
  • 7. The wig of claim 1, wherein the internal layer is a satin material.
  • 8. A method of forming a wig, comprising: locating a cap material on a surfaceattaching one or more hair wefts to a surface of the cap;applying an internal layer to an interior of the cap; andlocating one or more attachment devices to the internal layer.
  • 9. The method of claim 8, further comprising: measuring a head of a user and sizing the cap material to fit the head of the user.
  • 10. The method of claim 8, further comprising: locating a secondary cap adjacent a head of a user between the head of the user and the cap material.
  • 11. The method of claim 8, wherein the internal layer is a silk material.
  • 12. The method of claim 8, wherein the internal layer is a satin material.
  • 13. The method of claim 8, wherein the plurality of hair wefts are coupled to the cap through the use of an adhesive.
  • 14. The method of claim 8, wherein the plurality of hair wefts are coupled to the cap through a plurality of stitching.
