1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a cigar cutter, and more particularly to a desktop cigar cutter.
2. Description of the Prior Art

In addition, the blade 70 is exposed, it may attract children's attention and can be operated directly by a child, so when a child may get hurt when accidently inserting a finger into the cutting hole 63.
The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.
To overcome the afore-described disadvantages, a desktop cigar cutter in accordance with the present invention comprises: a base, a control assembly, a cutting assembly, and at least one elastic assembly.
The base is formed with a cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove and an engaging groove in communication with each other, at each of two opposite inner surfaces of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove are formed a first pivoting portion and a second pivoting portion, respectively, between the two first pivoting portions being connected a first pivot.
The control assembly is disposed in the engaging groove of the base and comprises a control member and an elastic member, the control assembly is formed with an engaging flange with a guiding slope and is disposed in the engaging hole, the engaging flange extends to the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove, the elastic member has both ends abutted against the control member and the base, respectively, so that, in normal conditions, the control assembly is pushed against the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove.
The cutting blade assembly is disposed in the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove of the base and provided at both sides thereof with a pivot, respectively, the cutting blade assembly is formed with an engaging groove for engaging with the engaging flange, the pivots is inserted in the second pivoting portion for enabling the cutting blade assembly to pivot in and out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove.
The elastic assembly is disposed at the first pivoting portion in such a manner that the elastic member has two ends pushed against the base and the cutting blade assembly, respectively.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a desktop cigar cutter, when not in use, the cutting blade assembly can be pivoted into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove of the base, thus considerably reducing the size of the cigar cutter for easy storage and transportation.
The secondary object of the present invention is to provide a desktop cigar cutter, to use cigar cutter, the user can use the control assembly to make the engaging groove of the cutting blade assembly disengage from the engaging flange of the control assembly, so that the elastic member pushes the cutting blade assembly to pivot upward out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove and into a stand-up position. Similarly, pressing the cutting blade assembly downward and then engaging the engaging groove with the engaging flange can make the cutting blade assembly pivot downward into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove of the base again.
Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide a desktop cigar cutter, when not in use, the cutting blade assembly can be restricted in the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove of the base, thus protecting children from getting cut.

The base 10 is formed at one end thereof with a cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 and an engaging groove 12 in communication with each other via a through hole 120 formed at one end of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11. At each of two opposite inner surfaces of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 are formed a first pivoting portion 13 and a second pivoting portion 14, respectively, and the first and second pivoting portions 13, 14 are located at another end of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11. Between the two first pivoting portions 13 is connected a first pivot 130. The cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 is further formed with two receiving grooves 110 at both ends of the first pivot 130. The second pivoting portion 14 extends downward and takes the form of a sliding groove which includes a first end 140 and a second end 141. The cutting blade assembly 30 is slidable between the first and second ends 140, 141 of the second pivoting portion 14. In the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 is further formed a stand-up groove 111 which is located between the two second pivoting portions 14, and the cutting blade assembly 30 is inserted in stand-up groove 111 and maintained in a stand-up position when it pivots out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11. Next to the stand-up groove 111 is disposed an abutting edge 15 which is formed with a concave portion in center thereof and located between the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 and the stand-up groove 111. In the base 10 is further formed with an ash chamber 16 which is located next to the abutting edge 15.
The engaging groove 12 is provided with an inner stop portion 121 and an outer stop portion 122, and the inner stop portion 121 is adjacent to the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11.
The control assembly 20 is disposed in the engaging groove 12 of the base 10 and comprises a control member 21, an engaging member 22, an elastic member 23 and a locking member 24. The control member 21 is defined with an engaging hole 211. The engaging member 22 is formed with an engaging flange 221 with a guiding slope and is disposed in the engaging hole 211 and stopped against the inner stop portion 121. The engaging flange 221 extends to the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 via the through hole 120. The elastic member 23 and the engaging member 22 are inserted on the locking member 24, and then the locking member 24 is inserted in the engaging hole 211. The elastic member 23 has one end abutted against the control member 21 and the engaging member 22 and another abutted against the outer stop portion 122 of the base 10, so that, in normal conditions, the control assembly 20 is pushed against the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11.
The cutting blade assembly 30 is disposed in the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of the base 10 and comprises a cover 31, a blade-mounting seat 32 and a blade 33. The cover 31 consists of two hinged halves which define an inserting groove 311 therebetween and is formed with an cutting hole 312 which penetrating the two hinged halves and the inserting groove 311. The blade 33 is mounted on the blade-mounting seat 32 and then movably inserted in the inserting groove 311. When sliding in the cutting hole 312, the blade 33 will move through the cutting hole 312 to cut the cigar inserted therein. The cover 31 is provided at both sides thereof with a pivot 313, respectively. The blade-mounting seat 32 is formed with an engaging groove 321 for engaging with the engaging flange 221. The pivots 313 are inserted in the second pivoting portions 14, so that the cutting blade assembly 30 can pivot in and out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 by pivoting around the pivots 313 and the second pivoting portions 14.
The elastic assembly 40 includes at least one elastic member 41 and at least one pushing rod 42 which are pivotally disposed at the first pivoting portion 13 in such a manner that the elastic member 41 is received in an elastic-member receiving groove 420 defined in a bottom of the pushing rod 42, and the elastic member 41 has two ends pushed against the base 10 and the pushing rod 42, respectively, making the pushing rod 42 push against the cutting blade assembly 30, so that the elastic assembly 40 applies a push force to the cutting blade assembly 30.

With the abovementioned arrangements, the desktop cigar cutter has the following advantages:
First, when not in use, the cutting blade assembly 30 can be pivoted into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of the base 10, thus considerably reducing the size of the cigar cutter for easy storage and transportation.
Second, to use cigar cutter, the user can use the control assembly 20 to make the engaging groove 321 of the cutting blade assembly 30 disengage from the engaging flange 221 of the control assembly 20, so that the elastic member 41 pushes the cutting blade assembly 30 to pivot upward out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 and into a stand-up position. On the contrarily, pressing the cutting blade assembly 30 downward and then engaging the engaging groove 321 with the engaging flange 221 can make the cutting blade assembly 30 pivot downward into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of the base 10 again.
Third, when not in use, the cutting blade assembly 30 can be restricted in the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of the base 10, thus protecting children from getting cut.
