Detachable / interchangeable / adjustable necktie

Abstract

A necktie comprising of two individual pieces of fabric, that when joined together using metal hardware, form a single tie. Two individual pieces of fabric are described herein as main panel and tail. Tail(s) are interchangeable with any main panel offering endless color and pattern combinations. Loop adjustment formed within front panel by using metal slide, resting around ones neck, allows for adjusting proper main panel torso length as well as proper neck size for comfortable fit. Tail secures to main panel via metal bathing suit hook, latching around formed main panel loop to create full length necktie. Necktie becomes fully interchangeable with colors and patterns, detachable even when tied with use of bathing suit hook and adjustable to fall to proper length over torso as well as neck size of wearer, creating a one size fits most multifunctional product.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to neckties and more specifically to detachable, interchangeable, adjustable neckties.

Efforts have been made through various means to create more options for wearers of neckties. However, more than just mere appearance matters when doing so. There is proper fit, proper length as well as appearance. There are limited length options for today's consumer when purchasing a necktie. This limits the knot design that can be used, as well as overall appearance, should the tie not be long enough for one individual and too long for another. People of larger sizes have fewer options and most of the time will encounter a problem with length of the main panel, being too short and not falling properly above the belt buckle. People of smaller sizes encounter a necktie being too long either in the front panel, hanging lower than desired length, or tail needing to be tucked behind ones shirt and waistline, to hide excess fabric.

Individual wearers of neckties have limitations with patterns and colors when it comes to traditional neckties. Traditional neckties are typically manufactured with one color/pattern for the entire length of the tie. This often times gives a bland look and gives very little ability for self expression. By reason of economization, said described invention is structured in two individual pieces rather than one, being a metal bathing suit hook in the area of the neck of the wearer so as to be invisible, but that the purpose of the tie, with the same appearance becomes more affordable to own and manufacture by using smaller pieces.

Individual wearers of neckties often complain of the neckline being too tight in the neck area. No real adjustment options once tied in place, lending to a hopeful end to such discomfort.

A further object of the invention is to provide a detachable, interchangeable and adjustable necktie. Detachable so that once tied in place, a single bathing suit hook allows the wearer to disconnect the tie from ones neck and reattach whenever necessary, quickly and effortlessly, without disturbing the knot or main torso panel. Interchangeable to the degree of endless color and pattern combinations to allow for total self expression and individuality as well as being cost effective. Adjustable not only in the size and comfort desired for ones neck, but also in the overall length of the front main panel, (torso area) allowing for proper fall and finished appearance.

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved necktie. Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent to persons to which the present invention pertains from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of all pieces that formulate finished necktie. Main panel fabric (1), Tail fabric (2), Metal slide (3), Metal bathing suit hook (4).

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of metal hardware attached to both main panel fabric (5) and tail fabric (6) as needed to make a complete connection, forming a single necktie result when connected.

FIG. 4 is an alternative example/version of necktie shown tied and finished for a wearer.

This version can also be manufactured with a sewn in place knot of ones liking. Said version can be adjusted as mentioned as well as detachable. Not interchangeable if sewn in place (9).

The wearer of said necktie will gain the advantage of having at minimum, two neckties in one. This will allow for affordable expansion to ones wardrobe. If necktie is tied in a traditional fashion, both the knot and main panel fabric will be the same color/pattern, regardless of tail selected and attached. A traditional knot will give an end result of the tail being behind the main fabric panel. This is especially appreciated in a more traditional and conservative setting. Should the wearer get creative with a unique knot, wearer can enjoy bringing the tail color/pattern forward to create such unique knot, giving an entirely different look. Tail color/pattern will then be used to form the wearers knot giving a totally different color/pattern combination, also giving the appearance of a totally different necktie. Wearer can interchange main panel fabric with an endless choice of tails to create endless color/pattern combinations. Once placed around wearers neck, wearer may adjust any desired torso length as well as neck size, by utilizing slide adjustment built into main panel fabric. This creates a one size fits most product. Very little limitations to proper torso length and neck size if any. Wearer can lower main panel if they are taller or larger and shorten the main panel should they be shorter or smaller in stature. Any slack remaining after main panel adjustment can be eliminated by utilizing built in slide adjustment in neckline.

Should a wearer decide to request a pre-tied, sewn in place knot, main panel and tail combination, shown in FIG. 4, they will enjoy only having to adjust the necktie once to fit their desired main panel torso length and neck size. Easy and effortless detachment occurs when wearer releases bathing suit hook, permanently attached to tail fabric, from fabric loop of main panel. Wearer can put the tie on and take it off without effort by attaching the two fabric pieces together and separating them by use of the bathing suit hook. Knot design is not touched, main panel length and neck size are not interrupted with this action

By this arrangement, the knot and depending end portions of the tie do not become wrinkled or disturbed by repeated tying and the necktie will retain its neat appearance.

Wearers of neckties and people in general are looking for fast, effortless style as well as life style. FIG. 4 version of this invention allows for this giving the public exactly what they are looking for. High fashion, little effort. This invention in general gives the public the option of being creative as well as conservative in one necktie. Consumers can gain a larger assortment of neckties by owning one main panel to several tails, being a plus with someone on a budget. Trying to obviate this problem, it is known utility model WO2013160507 A1, in which a reversible tie offers different color/pattern combinations, but lacks with not having adjustability or detachability. Similarly, utility model US1957141 poses a solution to connecting two fabric panels together to formulate a single necktie but only features and claims such connection. This lacks adjustability as well as color/pattern combinations for neckties. Furthermore, utility model US2002825A creates a two piece necktie, however, fixates on four in hand knot only. This gives no other knot option to wearer, lacks color/pattern choices and has no or limited adjustability. In regard known utility model US1480830A, said patent reflects on detachability, not overall torso adjustment, color/pattern combinations or interchangeable pieces. Consumers also have to sever/cut/or rip off adjustable assembly if not desired. My invention does not confuse the consumer or require any further action of cutting, severing or ripping off an assembly once purchased, for adjustability.

Claims

1. A necktie comprising of two fabric parts (main panel and tail) in lieu of being one piece, with metal hardware able to connect the fabric parts together, forming a single necktie once connected.

2. Said necktie, as mentioned in claim 1, is interchangeable. By means of disconnecting and reconnecting an individual fabric part (tail), to a main panel, a wearer can change the appearance of the necktie's pattern, color scheme and knot desired to personal taste.

3. Said necktie, as mentioned in claim 1, is adjustable. By means of a metal slide affixed to the main panel, a wearer can adjust not only the length of the front panel torso area to a desired length, but also conform the necktie to rest comfortably around the circumference of ones neck.

4. A main panel of material is tapered at one end to allow for attachment to a metal slide as mentioned in claim 1. Tapered end of main panel of material is fed through metal slide and looped around and again fed back through same metal slide, on underside of slide following same direction of original insertion. Said end of material is then folded over and sewn so that a permanent loop is created, thus allowing for an adjustable panel or neckband.

5. A tail panel of material that is tapered on one end to allow for attachment to a metal bathing suit hook. Tapered end of tail panel is inserted into and through closed end of metal bathing suit hook, folded over and sewn to itself to create a permanent bond to the metal bathing suit hook. Open end of hook from tail panel allows connectivity to main panel permanent loop by sliding open end of metal loop over permanent loop of main panel.

6. Said necktie, as mentioned in claim 1 is detachable. By means of disconnecting tail panel from front main panel of pre-tied knot version, wearer can attach and detach necktie from neck without damaging or disturbing pre-tied knot or main panel.
