Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to clothing, in particular to lower-body clothing. More specifically, the present invention is a lower-body garment which includes a rear panel that is easily detachable in order to allow a wearer to perform personal and biological needs and any other activity that may require access to the human body from the lower body rear, without fully removing the garment.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Traditional lower-body garments such as pants, underwear, shorts, and swimsuits require the user to fully remove the garment in order to change and perform personal/biological needs. However, certain situations prevent a person from being able to fully remove the lower-body clothing. For example, people with physical or cognitive disabilities often require aid in donning and removing of clothing as they are not capable of doing it themselves. Other examples include personnel in the Army while in the field missions away from the base, In some medical checkups or doctor's interventions, outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, hiking, and fishing as such activities are associated with little to no privacy. The lack of privacy increases stress and anxiety for a person in need of going to the bathroom or performing other biological needs, especially if there is not enough time for it. In many cases the traditional lower garments also, do not allow the wearer to seat and open or spread they legs comfortably while using the toilet. Thus, there is a need for an alternative clothing that does not require its full removal in order to perform personal/biological needs, and allows the wearer to be able to seat and open they legs comfortably while using the toilet.

The present invention provides a lower-body garment which allows a user to access the internal space within the garment without its full removal through a detachable rear panel. The present invention may be implemented for a variety of lower-body garment types including, but not limited to, pants, underwear, activewear, joggers, shorts, coveralls, swimsuits, military uniforms, and other similar clothing. The present invention mechanically integrates a pair of fastening mechanism into the upper side seams of the garment in order to allow a rear panel of the garment to be detachable. Type of fastening mechanisms include zippers, buttons, and hook-and-loop fasteners to name a few non-limiting examples.

The present invention generally relates to clothing, in particular to an alternative design for clothing worn on the bottom half of the body. More specifically, the present invention is a lower-body garment 1 which includes a rear portion that is easily and quickly detachable. This allows a wearer to specifically detach the backside of the lower-body garment 1 in order to perform personal and/or biological needs without requiring to pull down the whole lower-body garment 1.

Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the present invention comprises the lower-body garment 1, a first fastening mechanism 14, a second fastening mechanism 15, and a third fastening mechanism 16. The lower-body garment 1 is a piece of clothing used to cover and protect the lower portion of the body. Type of clothing that may be used as the lower-body garment 1 include, but is not limited to, pants, underwear, shorts, coveralls, activewear, joggers, swimsuits, military uniforms, jumpsuits, and other similar clothing. The lower-body garment 1 comprises a front panel 2, a detachable rear panel 3, a waistband 9, and a crotch panel 11. The front panel 2 is a piece of fabric designed to cover and protect the lower anterior area of the body. The detachable rear panel 3 is a piece of fabric designed to cover and protect the lower posterior area of the body. The front panel 2 and the detachable rear panel 3 each comprise a top edge 4, a first lateral edge 5, and a second lateral edge 7. The top edge 4 is positioned in between the first lateral edge 5 and the second lateral edge 7 in order to yield a semi-rectangular shape as seen in FIG. 4. The front panel 2 and the detachable panel are secured on the wearer through the waistband 9. In particular, the front panel 2 is adjacently connected to the waistband 9 along the top edge 4 of the front panel 2. The top edge 4 of the detachable rear panel 3 is positioned adjacent and along the waistband 9, opposite the front panel 2.

The detachable rear panel 3 is attached to the waistband 9 by the third fastening mechanism 16, described in further detail below. Resultantly, when the preset invention is worn, the top edge 4 of the front panel 2, the top edge 4 of the detachable rear panel 3, and the waistband 9 run along the waistline of the wearer.

The crotch panel 11 covers and protects the crotch of the wearer and is connected in between the front panel 2 and the detachable rear panel 3. More specifically, the crotch panel 11 is connected adjacent to the front panel 2, opposite the top edge 4 of the front panel 2; and the crotch panel 11 is connected adjacent to the detachable rear panel 3, opposite the top edge 4 of the detachable rear panel 3. This design ties the front panel 2 to the detachable rear panel 3.

The first lateral edge 5 of the front panel 2, the first lateral edge 5 of the detachable rear panel 3, and the first fastening mechanism 14 make up a first side-seam of the lower-body garment 1. In particular, the first lateral edge 5 of the detachable rear panel 3 is adjacently attached to the first lateral edge 5 of the front panel 2 by the first fastening mechanism 14. When the present invention is worn, the first-side seam aligns and runs along a first leg of the wearer. Similarly, the second lateral edge 7 of the detachable rear panel 3, the second lateral edge 7 of the front panel 2, and the second fastening mechanism 15 make a second side-seam of the lower-body. More specifically, the second lateral edge 7 of the detachable rear panel 3 is adjacently attached to the second lateral edge 7 of the front panel 2 by the second fastening mechanism 15. When the present invention is worn, the second side-seam aligns and runs along a second leg of the wearer. The first fastening mechanism 14 and the second fastening mechanism 15 allow the wearer to easily detach the detachable rear panel 3 from the front panel 2.

Referring to FIG. 2, the first fastening mechanism 14 comprises a first engagement element 23 and a second engagement element 24. Similarly, the second fastening mechanism 15 comprises a third engagement element 25 and a fourth engagement element 26. The first engagement element 23 is connected along the first lateral edge 5 of the front panel 2. Complimentary to the first engagement element 23, the second engagement element 24 is connected along the first lateral edge 5 of the detachable rear panel 3. The first engagement element 23 and the second engagement element 24 allow the user to easily attach and detach the first side-seam. When the detachable rear panel 3 is secured to the front panel 2 and the waistband 9, the first engagement element 23 is mechanically engaged to the second engagement element 24 to ensure that the detachable rear panel 3 does not accidentally release/unfasten. The third engagement element 25 is connected along the second lateral edge 7 of the front panel 2. Complimentary, the fourth engagement element 26 is connected along the second lateral edge 7 of the detachable rear panel 3. The third engagement element 25 and the fourth engagement element 26 allow the user to easily attach and detach the second side-seam. When the detachable rear panel 3 is secured to the front panel 2 and the waistband 9, the third engagement element 25 is mechanically engaged to the fourth engagement element 26 to ensure that the detachable rear panel 3 does not accidentally release/unfasten.

A multitude of different types of fasteners may be used for the first fastening mechanism 14 and the second fastening mechanism 15 including, but not limited to, hook-and-loop fasteners, clasp/snap buttons, zipper fastener, and hook-and-eye fasteners. For example, for the pants version of the present invention, the preferred first fastening mechanism 14 and the second fastening mechanism 15 are zipper fasteners. For the underwear version of the present invention, the preferred first fastening mechanism 14 and the second fastening mechanism 15 are hook-eye clasps.

In order to fully release the detachable rear panel 3, the third fastening mechanism 16 must be unfastened. The third fastening mechanism 16 is mechanically integrated in between the detachable rear panel 3 and the waistband 9 as seen in FIG. 2.

A multitude of methods and mechanisms may be used as the third fastening mechanism 16 including, but not limited to, clasp/snap buttons, zipper fasteners, and hook-and-eye fasteners. In one embodiment of the present invention, the third fastening mechanism 16 is a hook-and-loop fastener. More specifically, the third fastening mechanism 16 comprises a plurality of hooks 17 and a plurality of loops 18. The plurality of hooks 17 is adjacently connected along an outer surface 10 of the waistband 9. Complimentary, the plurality of loops 18 is connected to the detachable rear panel 3, adjacent to the top edge 4 of the detachable rear 3 panel such that when the third fastening mechanism 16 is engaged, the top edge 4 of the detachable rear panel 3 is positioned and secured flush with the top edge of the waistband 9. In order to secure the detachable rear panel 3 to the waistband 9, the plurality of hooks 17 must be engaged to the plurality of loops 18. This ensures that the detachable rear panel 3 is secured and aligned with the waistband 9.

In order to utilize the present invention, the wearer simply unfastens the first fastening mechanism 14, the second fastening mechanism 15, and the third fastening mechanism 16 in order to release the detachable rear panel 3. In this configuration, the lower-body garment 1 remains on the wearer's waistline as the result of the waistband 9 constricting around the wearer. This is one of the key features of the present invention. After the wearer is finished with his or her biological needs, he or she simply positions top edge 4 of the detachable rear panel 3 flush with the waistline and re-secures the first fastening mechanism 14, the second fastening mechanism 15, and the third fastening mechanism 16.

Referring to FIG. 1, wherein the lower-body garment 1 is either pants or shorts (or other similar clothing), the lower-body garment 1 further comprises a first pant leg 12 and a second pant leg 13. The first pant leg 12 and the second pant leg 13 are each a tubular-shaped piece of fabric which covers and protects the legs of the wearer. The first pant leg 12 and the second pant leg 13 are positioned opposite to each other across the front panel 2 and the detachable rear panel 3. More specifically, the first pant leg 12 is positioned adjacent to the first lateral edge 5 of the front panel 2 and the first lateral edge 5 of the detachable rear panel 3. The first pant leg 12 is perimetrically connected to the front panel 2, the crotch panel 11, and the detachable rear panel 3 in order to create a first enclosed space delineated by the aforementioned components. Similarly, the second pant leg 13 is positioned adjacent to the second lateral edge 7 of the front panel 2 and the second lateral edge 7 of the detachable rear panel 3. The second pant leg 13 is perimetrically connected to the front panel 2, the crotch panel 11, and the detachable rear panel 3 in order to create a second enclosed space delineated by the aforementioned components. The length, width, composition, shape, and thickness of the first pant leg 12 and the second pant leg 13 are subject to change in order to accommodate the needs and preferences of the wearer. In order to allow the wearer to perform his or her biological needs, a length of the first lateral edge 5 and a length of the second lateral edge 7 must be equal or greater than a waist-rise length; wherein the waist-rise length is the distance between the waistband 9 and the crotch panel 11. This ensures that when unfastened, the detachable rear panel 3 provides a large enough opening in the lower-body garment 1 for the wearer to be able to perform his or her biological needs.

To further ensure that the present invention is adequately secured on the wearer's waist, the present invention further comprises an adjustable belt 20. Referring to FIG. 1, the adjustable belt 20 is positioned adjacent to the front panel 2, along the waistband 9. Additionally, the adjustable belt 20 is wrapped around the waistband 9 and is connected to the detachable rear panel 3. In particular, a first end 21 of the adjustable belt 20 is connected to the detachable rear panel 3, adjacent to the first lateral edge 5 of the detachable rear panel 3. A second of the adjustable belt 20 is connected to the detachable rear panel 3, adjacent to the second lateral edge 7 of the detachable rear panel 3. When tightened, the adjustable belt 20 further secures the detachable rear panel 3 to the waistband 9 and the front panel 2.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
