The present disclosure relates to hair accessories and, more particularly, to hairpieces that can be attached to the scalp or the wearer's natural hair, allowing the wearer to attain a complete hairstyle without manipulating his/her natural hair. This invention particularly pertains to women suffering from Alopecia and is in the form of a hair replacement unit.
Alopecia areata is a disorder which afflicts individuals of both sexes and all ages and is characterized by baldness occurring in sharply defined patches leaving the scalp smooth and white. It is common for individuals so afflicted to wear hairpieces or wigs to cover the areas of baldness. However, when such baldness is total, conventional wigs are not satisfactory because there is no residual hair for attachment. In such cases, the most common method is to employ adhesives, such as two-sided tapes, for attaching the wig directly to the bare scalp. Such attachment methods, are not secure so that many wearers are will at ease in social situations and tend to become withdrawn. Furthermore, because of a fear that their wigs will become dislodged, such individuals curb many physical activities such as athletics. As a result of the absence of satisfactory prior art wigs, total baldness can be psychologically devastating, particularly to women and girls. Additionally, such attachment methods as well as the underside of the wig itself can be uncomfortable and cause irritations, infections or itching. Furthermore, such conventional wigs tend to absorb perspiration which also causes a tendency to restrict activities.
One prior art attempt to remedy this problem was to employ a plastic cap to which individual hairs were attached so as to resemble a scalp. Such wigs were very expensive and were limited to the use of a single hairpiece which required a great deal of care.
Furthermore, by looking at prior art multiple advancements have been seen in hair wigs and the artificial hair industry. For instance, a U.S. Pat. No. 2,865,380 discloses a hair piece in the form of an elongated thin flexible member or carrier strap with strands of hair attached thereto along its length by sewing or braiding, this device is used by sewing a plurality of the carrier strands to plaits of the wearer's hair in overlapping “weatherboard” fashion.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,357,986 discloses a hair locking process and device in which a flexible ribbon or thread with rings knotted there along is woven as, or along with, one strand of a flat braid of the wearer's hair, which braid encircles the crown, or the rear portion of the crown of the head. A machine-stitched sheet-like weft of hair, also having rings attached along the stitched area thereof, is connected to the flat braid by hand sewing the rings of the two components together.
A U.S. Pat. No. 2,004,016,869 issued to Cox Mary J. discloses a wig which includes a foundation made from generally circular blank of stretchable netting formed into a bowl shape as worn on a wearer's head. The bowl shape is formed by radially folding over the blank upon itself at a plurality of pairs of fold lines to form a plurality of radially-spaced triangular pleats. An elastic band is looped and attached to an outer periphery of the blank at a stretchable seam to maintain the pleats and the bowl shape. A plurality of hair wefts is attached to a convex outer surface of the foundation in a layered, spaced relationship at respective seams. Attachment areas of the hair wefts to the foundation hidden by overlapping adjacent hair wefts. The hair wefts are arranged to simulate natural hair growth patterns with hair wefts disposed transversely of the foundation pointing forwardly, downwardly, upwardly, or a combination thereof. Hair wefts at a crown of the foundation are centered about the crown pointing radially outwardly from the crown.
Further U.S. Pat. No. 6,220,249 issued to Pigeon Mongan Indonesia PT, discloses is a wig including a wig base and a plurality of hairs outwardly sewn on a surface of the wig base, comprising monotapes affixed to a front portion of the wig base, and a plurality of length adjusting parts disposed at the back portion of the wig base which adjusts the length of the front and back of the wear wig, in order to freely adjust the length of the wig and improve a wearing effect of the wig. Also, the present invention is composed of the front portion having the monotapes and the side portion having elastic bands.
Most of the patent which has been studied through relevant patent history focuses on covering the whole head scalp with wig. These patents are either focused on introducing further convenience for the individual wearing those or focused on improvements in transformation wigs and more particularly to such a wig in which the human hair may be blended with the hair of the wig. Very few of advancements have been seen where hair wigs are provided for people suffering from Alopecia areata. The current invention aims to provide an improvement to existing hair wigs which provides advancement in form of crown hair topper where the unit includes a base, wig clips, and hair extensions. The primary use for the hair unit is to be worn as a temporary, removable solution on the crown (top) are of the head to provide coverage of thin and/or bald areas of the scalp.
However, to Applicant's knowledge, none of these prior art methods have been found to be completely suitable to meet these needs and are cumbersome. Thus, there is a need in the prior art in which the aforementioned inconveniences, difficulties, and grooming problems are, for all practical purposes, eliminated. Thus, the present invention provides such a method and the overall combination of these features is nowhere disclosed in the prior art cited above which appears to be representative of the general art in this area although it is not intended to be an all-inclusive listing of pertinent prior art patents.

As is widely known, fashion haircutting-hair shaping procedure encompasses actions of cutting strands of hair in special order and of special length as to achieve a planned design, and, in ultimate goal, to create a planned coiffure. It is not practical in daily life to give yourself a new style every day.
Wigs and hair pieces have been around since the Egyptians built their empires and were often considered fashionable, but for the past half-century or so, many women—particularly those who turn to wigs and clip-ins because of hair loss—have regarded them with a sense of embarrassment. But today, taboos around hair pieces are evaporating, thanks largely to greater experimentation among celebrities and increased transparency via social media, as well as improvements in product and application technology.
Above all has helped us to convince us that if you fancy a blunt glossy bob one day and long blonde locks the next, wigs are the way to go. The fashion changes so quickly these days that waiting for one's hair to grow again after cutting takes time. Nobody is interested in this fast pace life to commit to a new style or colour when they can change your look from day to day? Increasingly, young women are turning to wigs, especially hair pieces and wefts, which give instant length and fullness in seconds″.
Moreover because of medical reasons hair loss is also a rising problem. Hairs are one of the foremost losses in induvial health. Alopecia areata (AA) is a disorder characterized by non-scarring hair loss. It can affect parts of the scalp (patchy AA), the entire scalp (alopecia totalis, AT), or the entire body (alopecia universalis, AU). It is estimated that AA affects 0.1 to 0.2% of the population in the US, with males and females equally affected. Paediatric AA accounts for approximately 20% of all cases. Up to 60% of patients with AA will experience their first hair loss incident before 20 years old and most patients will have more than one episode of hair loss
Thus, in short, everyone is really sensitive to when the hair topic comes. There is no doubt that hairs are an integral part of one's personality. So, wearing these wigs is also a great necessity in this domain.

In its preferred embodiment, the crown hair topper focuses on providing confidence and ease of carrying any hairstyle. The crown hair topper in its featured embodiment shows strands of hair, which may preferably be human hair, but which also may be synthetic hair made from a synthetic material such as dynel, nylon or other like materials. The strands of hair are suitably tied to a thread or in a side-by-side fashion with respect to each other, to form the drifting and floating pieces of the wig. The thread can be silk, nylon, cotton or even human hair.
The crown hair topper as per its further embodiments consists of synthetic or human hair that is cut, colored and styled then machine stitched into narrow rectangular or semi-circular shaped wefts. There are metal clips and metal snap clips sewn on the hairpiece for attachment to the wearer's natural hair.
The application and wearing of the present invention are very simple and straightforward, The wearer opens each metal snap clip by squeezing both sides in a downward direction, inserting the metal combs directly onto the natural hair then squeezing the clips for secure closure. The clips are simply inserted onto the natural hair. The mechanism of both metal snap clips and plastic comb clips keep the crown hair topper securely attached to the wearer's natural hair. The hair unit may also be worn without the clips with the use of adhesives and tapes or by using the “sew-down” method of hair extension installation.
To eliminate the need for costly, intricate cutting, coloring, and the use of holding agents and styling of the natural by a professional, crown hair topper is highly preferred, economical, and easy to use.
The crown hair topper in its preferred embodiment is designed with the highest quality of hair dyed with the highest quality of chemicals to suit the need of those individuals who are going through medical treatments. This can be in the case of patients going through laser treatments or on medical aid. The crown hair topper, fits directly to the wearer's head, with an invisible hairline. it has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of sensitive skin.
