Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to the field of detachable swimsuit devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to an improved detachable swimsuit device that provides users with a swimsuit that includes a detachable waist and abdomen section, allowing users to selectively reveal their stomach when wearing the suit. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.

BACKGROUND

By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in detachable swimsuits. Generally, swimsuits are revealing and people with self-esteem and confidence issues may have trouble wearing a swimsuit in public. High-waisted swimsuits can provide additional coverage. However, high-waisted swimsuits can lead to awkward tan lines that go all the way up to the rib cage. Thus, people may desire to uncover their waist for a period of time while wearing a bikini-style swimsuit but are unable to do so.

Furthermore, with the continuing trend toward naturalness and health, there has been a pronounced tendency for women of all ages and physical conditions to desire to wear substantially briefer swimsuits than those conventionally worn in the past. This trend has created problems for women who, though desiring to achieve a maximum suntan, have imperfections in their skin or figures which they desire to be concealed at certain times. In the past, such women would just wear a one-piece bathing suit, as the conventional two-piece bathing suit would reveal a woman's flaws and could cause embarrassment or distress. However, such two-piece bathing suits could be appealing to some women in other contexts than a public beach or pool, such as for example, around a personal swimming pool or a friend's swimming pool.

Accordingly, custom-made swimsuits designed to maximize exposure of a particular woman's figure, while at the same time concealing particular flaws, have been infrequent, due to their cost and accessibility to the vast majority of women. Therefore, there has been an unfulfilled need for a woman's swimsuit available in conventional sizes, which can be adjusted by the user to provide the desired degree of exposure and concealment depending on where the user is wearing the swimsuit.

Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that provides users with an improved swimsuit with a detachable waist and abdomen section which allows users to selectively reveal their stomach when wearing the suit. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that enables users to attach and remove the high waist section via zippers, buttons, snaps, and other fasteners. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that ensures women feel more comfortable when wearing a swimsuit in public by offering the option to cover the stomach, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a device that prevents unsightly tan lines that typically occur when wearing a standard high-waisted swimsuit. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that improves confidence and self-esteem when wearing a two-piece swimsuit. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that allows users to customize the look of their swimsuit while in public areas.

The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a detachable swimsuit device. The device is a multipurpose two-piece swimsuit with a detachable waist component. The waist component can be selectively attached to the swimsuit to cover the user's stomach or abdomen area as desired. The waist component can be secured via hook and loop fasteners, snaps, buttons, zippers, etc. Further, the waist component can be mixed and matched to offer more variety and options to each swimsuit. The swimsuit device can be manufactured of nylon, lycra, spandex, etc. Users can wear the swimsuit device as desired, with or without the high-waisted component. The waist component is attached to the swimsuit bottoms with ease to cover the user's stomach/abdomen area. Thus, users can customize the look of their swimsuit while in public areas.

In this manner, the detachable swimsuit device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with a device that may be available in various sizes. The device provides users with a customizable look, allowing the swimsuit device to be worn with or without the waist component. The device can be mixed and matched to create additional options for the swimsuit and is secured via any suitable fastener.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a detachable swimsuit device. The device is a multipurpose two-piece swimsuit component with a detachable waist component. The waist component can be selectively attached to the swimsuit component to cover the user's stomach or abdomen area as desired. Further, the waist component can be mixed and matched to offer more variety and options to each swimsuit. Users can wear the swimsuit device as desired, with or without the high-waisted component. Thus, users can customize the look of their swimsuit while in public areas.

In one embodiment, an example swimsuit is shown in accordance with the disclosure herein. The swimsuit is shown worn by a user and has the appearance of a conventional two-piece swimsuit, with the exception of an additional section of material that comprises a waist component that covers a user's waist/abdomen area. Further, the swimsuit component has a top portion that covers an upper torso/chest area of a user, i.e., the portion of the user's torso/chest that lies primarily above the waistline, similar to a halter top. The top portion is configured to be worn on the upper torso in a conventional fashion. The swimsuit also has a bottom portion that covers the lower portion of the torso/posterior area of a user and extends around the user's groin. The bottom portion is configured to be worn on the lower torso in a conventional fashion.

In one embodiment, the waist component is a length of material having a top, a bottom, and two opposing ends that are releasably secured together in use around a user's waist. Generally, the waist component is manufactured of the same material as the swimsuit. Further, the waist component is sized to wrap around the circumference of a user's waist/abdomen area and be releasably secured via fasteners.

In another embodiment, the waist component comprises a closure component positioned on the two opposing ends. The closure component releasably secures the right end to the left end of the waist component. Specifically, the closure component comprises at least one of a hook and loop fastener, zipper, button and buttonhole pairs, snaps, etc., or other suitable clothing fastener as is known in the art.

In one embodiment, the closure component does not comprise an end stop, allowing the closure component to be completely separated to make removal and attachment of the waist component easy. Further, the closure component extends along a width of the waist component, thereby allowing the waist component to separate completely and form a continuous length of material when the fastener is unfastened and securing the waist component securely around a user's waist when fastened.

In another embodiment, the waist component comprises a flap, positioned over the closure component. The flap component is secured to one end of the waist component, such that when the closure component is secured, the flap component acts to hide the closure component from view for aesthetic purposes. Generally, the flap component is a flap of material manufactured of the same material as is used to manufacture the waist component.

In use, in a minimum exposure mode, the waist component ends are secured together around the user's waist. As a result, the waist component provides maximum concealment for any desired purpose as, for example, to hide certain imperfections, such as scars or stretch marks on the body of the user. For the common flaws and figure problems, such as stretch marks and surgical scars, the configuration depicted will provide adequate concealment. Accordingly, the selected coverage desired, depending on particular figure characteristics or the social context in which the suit is worn, may be achieved by adjusting the height of the waist component or by removing the waist component altogether.

Thus, in accordance with the invention, a swimsuit has been provided which affords the capability of selective coverage and exposure based on the particular wishes of the user at any particular time, manufactured in conventional sizes and without the necessity for custom fabrication thereof.

In one embodiment, the detachable swimsuit device is manufactured of nylon, lycra, or spandex, etc.

In yet another embodiment, the detachable swimsuit device comprises a plurality of indicia.

In yet another embodiment, a method of utilizing an adjustable swimsuit is described. The method includes the steps of providing a detachable swimsuit device comprising a two-piece swimsuit with a removable waist component. The method also comprises putting on the two-piece swimsuit similar to a conventional swimsuit. Further, the method comprises securing the waist component to a user's waist area or abdomen area via a plurality of hook and loop fasteners or other suitable fasteners. Finally, removing the waist component as needed or desired by a user, by unfastening the fasteners.

Numerous benefits and advantages of this invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art to which it pertains, upon reading and understanding the following detailed specification.
