Claims
- 1. A composition comprising the following formula:
- 2. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R1 and R2 are each selected from the group consisting of a phenyl group, a substituted phenyl group, an ethyl group, a methyl group, a propyl group, a butyl group, a 2-hydroxy ethyl group, and a 3-hydroxy propyl group.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 wherein R1 and R2 are both an ethyl group.
- 4. A process of making a composition comprising the following formula:
- 5. A process according to claim 4 wherein said amine compound is a secondary amine compound.
- 6. A process according to claim 5 wherein said carbonyl compound is selected from the group consisting of an aldehyde and a ketone.
- 7. A process according to claim 6 wherein said solvent compound is an aromatic hydrocarbon.
- 8. A process according to claim 7 wherein said sulfur-containing compound is selected form the group consisting of an alkyl mercaptan and a heteroatom-substituted mercaptan.
- 9. A process according to claim 8 wherein the molar ratio of said amine compound to said carbonyl compound employed in step (a) is from about 5:1 to about 1:2.
- 10. A process according to claim 9 wherein the molar ratio of said solvent compound to said carbonyl compound employed in step (a) is less than about 10:1.
- 11. A process according to claim 10 wherein said amine compound is diethylamine.
- 12. A process according to claim 11 wherein said carbonyl compound is paraformaldehyde.
- 13. A process according to claim 12 wherein said solvent is toluene.
- 14. A process according to claim 13 wherein said sulfur-containing compound is 2-hydroxyethanethiol.
- 15. A composition made by the process of claim 5.
- 16. A composition made by the process of claim 14.
- 17. A process of using a composition comprising the following formula:
- 18. A process according to claim 16 wherein R1 and R2 are each selected from the group consisting of a phenyl group, a substituted phenyl group, an ethyl group, a methyl group, a propyl group, a butyl group, a 2-hydroxy ethyl group, and a 3-hydroxy propyl group.
- 19. A process according to claim 16 wherien R1 and R2 are both an ethyl group.
