Claims
- 1. A detergent formulation comprising
- (a) from 0.5 to 95% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of water soluble anionic, nonionic, amphoteric and zwitterionic surfactants, and
- (b) from 1 to 95% by weight of a compound of the molecular structure represented by the formula: ##STR20## wherein M is selected from the group consisting of --H, --CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5, --NH.sub.4, --Na, --K and combinations thereof; R is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --CH(CO.sub.2 M).sub.2, and --CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 M, and R' is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --H, and --OR.
- 2. The formulation of claim 1 wherein the compound (a) is present in an amount of from 5 to 95% and component (b) is present in an amount of from 5 to 95%.
- 3. The formulation of claim 1 wherein component (b) is: ##STR21##
- 4. The formulation of claim 1 wherein component (b) is: ##STR22##
- 5. The formulation of claim 1 wherein component (b) is: ##STR23##
- 6. The formulation of claim 1 wherein component (b) is: ##STR24##
- 7. A machine dishwashing composition comprising
- (a) from 0 to 5% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of low-foaming anionic and nonionic surfactants and mixtures thereof.
- (b) a chlorine providing material in an amount sufficient to provide from about 0.5 to 2% by weight of available chlorine,
- (c) from 5 to 30% by weight soluble sodium silicate having an SiO.sub.2 to Na.sub.2 O mole ratio of from 1:1 to 3.2:1, and
- (d) from 5 to 90% by weight of one or more compounds having the molecular structure represented by the formula: ##STR25## wherein M is selected from the group consisting of --H, --CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5, --NH.sub.4, Na--K and combinations thereof; R is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --CH(CO.sub.2 M).sub.2, and --CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 M, and R' is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --H, and --OR.
- 8. The composition of claim 7 wherein component d) is: ##STR26##

- 12. A method for washing articles comprising:
- contacting said articles with an aqueous detergent composition,
- said aqueous detergent composition comprising, dissolved in the water of said aqueous composition, a formulation which includes from 0 to 95% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of water soluble anionic, non-ionic, amphoteric and zwitterionic surfactants, and from 5 to 95% by weight of a compound of the molecular structure represented by the formula: ##STR30## wherein M is selected from the group consisting of --H, --CH.sub.3, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5, --NH.sub.4, --Na, --K and combinations thereof; R is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --CH(CO.sub.2 M).sub.2, and --CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 M, and R' is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical (branched or straight chain) containing up to about C.sub.20, --H, and OR.
- 13. The method of claim 12 wherein said compound is: ##STR31##
