One or more embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an organic light-emitting device.
Organic light-emitting devices are self-emissive devices that produce full-color images, and also have wide viewing angles, high contrast ratios, and short response times, and excellent characteristics in terms of luminance, driving voltage, and response speed.
In an example, an organic light-emitting device may include a first electrode on a substrate, and a hole transport region, an emission layer, an electron transport region, and a second electrode, which are sequentially on the first electrode. Holes provided from the first electrode may move toward the emission layer through the hole transport region, and electrons provided from the second electrode may move toward the emission layer through the electron transport region. Carriers, such as holes and electrons, recombine in the emission layer to produce excitons. These excitons transit (e.g., transition or relax) from an excited state to a ground state, thereby generating light.
Provided is an organic light-emitting device that has high efficiency and long lifespan at the same time.
Additional aspects of embodiments will be set forth in part in the description which follows and, in part, will be apparent from the description, or may be learned by practice of the presented embodiments of the disclosure.

In one embodiment, an electronic apparatus including the organic light-emitting device described above may be provided.
In one embodiment, the electronic apparatus may further include a color conversion layer, and the color conversion layer may include quantum dots.
An electron transport region of an organic light-emitting device of the present disclosure includes a first compound represented by Formula 1 below and a second compound represented by Formula 2 below.
The organic light-emitting device of the present disclosure includes a material of which the triplet energy is low, such as a first compound (LUMO: 2.4 eV-2.6 eV) represented by Formula 1, in the electron transport region, thereby dispersing triplets into a region of the hole blocking layer, reducing a non-emission triplet density in the emission layer, and reducing TTA and TPQ densities in the emission layer that do not participate in emission. Thus, the organic light-emitting device may have improved lifespan.
In addition, the organic light-emitting device of the present disclosure includes a second compound (LUMO: 2.6 eV-2.8 eV) represented by Formula 2, thereby having a wide injection path of a mixed material, such that electrons are better introduced into the emission layer, a triplet density participating in emission increases, and a delayed fluorescence (DF) ratio due to a TTF mechanism increases. Thus, internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of the organic light-emitting device increases, and the organic light-emitting device may have improved efficiency.
The term “organic layer,” as used herein, refers to a single layer and/or a plurality of layers located between the first electrode and the second electrode of the organic light-emitting device. A material included in the “organic layer” is not limited to an organic material. For example, the organic layer may include an inorganic material.
For example, the organic light-emitting device may have i) a structure in which a first electrode, an organic layer, a second electrode, and a second capping layer are sequentially stacked in this stated order, ii) a structure in which a first capping layer, a first electrode, an organic layer, and a second electrode are sequentially stacked in this stated order, or iii) a structure in which a first capping layer, a first electrode, an organic layer, a second electrode, and a second capping layer are sequentially stacked in this stated order, and at least one of the first capping layer and the second capping layer may include the heterocyclic compound.

Quantum Dot
The emission layer included in the organic light-emitting device of the present disclosure may include a quantum dot.
The color conversion layer included in the electronic apparatus of the present disclosure may include a quantum dot.
The quantum dot is a particle having a crystal structure of several to several tens of nanometers and includes hundreds to thousands of atoms.
Because the quantum dot is very small in size, a quantum confinement effect may occur. As used herein, the term “quantum confinement effect” refers to a phenomenon in which a band gap of an object becomes large when the object becomes smaller than a nanometer size. Accordingly, when light having a wavelength having an energy intensity that is greater than the band gap of the quantum dot is irradiated to the quantum dot, the quantum dot is excited by absorbing the light and emits light having a set or specific wavelength and transits (e.g., transitions) to the ground state. In this case, the wavelength of the emitted light has a value corresponding to the band gap.
A core of the quantum dot may include a Group II-VI compound, a Group III-VI compound, a Group III-V compound, a Group IV-VI compound, a Group IV element or compound, a Group I-III-VI compound, or a combination thereof.
The Group II-VI compound may be selected from: a binary compound selected from CdS, CdSe, CdTe, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe, ZnO, HgS, HgSe, HgTe, MgSe, MgS, and any mixture thereof; a ternary compound selected from CdSeS, CdSeTe, CdSTe, ZnSeS, ZnSeTe, ZnSTe, HgSeS, HgSeTe, HgSTe, CdZnS, CdZnSe, CdZnTe, CdHgS, CdHgSe, CdHgTe, HgZnS, HgZnSe, HgZnTe, MgZnSe, MgZnS, any mixture thereof; and a quaternary compound selected from CdZnSeS, CdZnSeTe, CdZnSTe, CdHgSeS, CdHgSeTe, CdHgSTe, HgZnSeS, HgZnSeTe, HgZnSTe, and any mixture thereof.
The Group III-VI compound may include: a binary compound, such as In2S3 or In2Se; a ternary compound, such as InGaS3 or InGaSe3; or any combination thereof.
For example, the Group III-V compound may be selected from: a binary compound selected from GaN, GaP, GaAs, GaSb, AlN, AlP, AlAs, AlSb, InN, InP, InAs, InSb, and any mixture thereof; a ternary compound selected from GaNP, GaNAs, GaNSb, GaPAs, GaPSb, AlNP, AlNAs, AlNSb, AlPAs, AlPSb, InGaP, InAlP, InNP, InNAs, InNSb, InPAs, InPSb, GaAlNP, and any mixture thereof; and a quaternary compound selected from GaAlNAs, GaAlNSb, GaAlPAs, GaAlPSb, GaInNP, GaInNAs, GaInNSb, GaInPAs, GalnPSb, InAlNP, InAlNAs, InAlNSb, InAlPAs, InAlPSb, and any mixture thereof, but embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The Group III-V semiconductor compound may further include Group II metal (for example, InZnP, etc.).
The IV-VI group compound may be selected from: a binary compound selected from SnS, SnSe, SnTe, PbS, PbSe, PbTe, and any mixture thereof; a ternary compound selected from SnSeS, SnSeTe, SnSTe, PbSeS, PbSeTe, PbSTe, SnPbS, SnPbSe, SnPbTe, and any mixture thereof; and a quaternary compound selected from SnPbSSe, SnPbSeTe, SnPbSTe, and any mixture thereof. The IV group element may be selected from Si, Ge, and any mixture thereof. The IV group compound may be a binary compound selected from SiC, SiGe, and any mixture thereof.
In this regard, the binary compound, the ternary compound, or the quaternary compound may exist in particles at uniform concentration or may exist in the same particle in a state in which a concentration distribution is partially different (e.g., where a concentration of the quaternary compound varies along a concentration gradient or varies randomly in the particle). In addition, the binary compound, the ternary compound, or the quaternary compound may have a core-shell structure in which one quantum dot surrounds another quantum dot. An interface between a core and a shell may have a concentration gradient in which the concentration of elements existing in the shell decreases toward the center.
In one or more embodiments, the quantum dot may have a core-shell structure including a core with the above-described nanoparticles and a shell surrounding the core. The shell of the quantum dot may serve as a protective layer for maintaining semiconductor characteristics by preventing or reducing chemical degeneration of the core and/or may serve as a charging layer for imparting electrophoretic characteristics to the quantum dot. The shell may be a single layer or a multilayer. An interface between the core and the shell may have a concentration gradient in which the concentration of elements existing in the shell decreases toward the center. Examples of the shell of the quantum dot may include a metal or non-metal oxide, a semiconductor compound, or any combination thereof.
Examples of the metal or non-metal oxide may be: a binary compound, such as SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, ZnO, MnO, Mn2O3, Mn3O4, CuO, FeO, Fe2O3, Fe3O4, CoO, Co3O4, or NiO; or a ternary compound, such as MgAl2O4, CoFe2O4, NiFe2O4, or CoMn2O4, but embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
In addition, examples of the semiconductor compound may be CdS, CdSe, CdTe, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe, ZnSeS, ZnTeS, GaAs, GaP, GaSb, HgS, HgSe, HgTe, InAs, InP, InGaP, InSb, AlAs, AlP, AlSb, or the like, but embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
A full width of half maximum (FWHM) of an emission wavelength spectrum of the quantum dot may be about 45 nm or less, for example, about 40 nm or less, for example, about 30 nm or less. When the FWHM of the emission wavelength spectrum of the quantum dot is within the range, color purity or color reproduction may be improved. In addition, light emitted through such quantum dot is irradiated in omnidirection, thereby improving a wide viewing angle.
In addition, the shape of the quantum dot is not particularly limited, and may be any suitable shape that is generally used in the art, but the present disclosure is not limited thereto. For example, the quantum dots may be spherical, pyramidal, multi-arm, or cubic nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanowires, nanofibers, nano-plate particles, or the like.
The quantum dot may adjust the color of light emitted according to the particle size. Therefore, the quantum dot may have various suitable emission colors such as blue, red, or green.

1H NMR and MS/FAB of the synthesized compounds are shown in Table 1. Even compounds other than the compounds shown in Table 1 may be easily recognized by those skilled in the art by referring to the above synthesis routes and source materials.
Compound HBL 1 and Compound HBL 2 were mixed at a weight ratio of 3:7 to manufacture a premixed deposition material.
A premixed deposition material was prepared in substantially the same manner as used to prepare Preparation Example 1, except that instead of mixing Compound HBL 1 and Compound HBL 2 at a weight ratio of 3:7, Compounds HBL 1 to HBL 5 were mixed according to a weight ratio described in Table 2.
In order to evaluate premixing level, the premixed deposition materials prepared according to the Preparation Examples 1 to 9 were respectively vacuum-deposited on a glass substrate to form a deposition film having a thickness of 3,000 Å, and mixing ratios of compounds in the deposition film and in the remaining material of crucible were measured by using HPLC.
Results of evaluation of the premixing levels of the premixed deposition materials are shown in Table 3 below.
Referring to Table 2, it can be seen that, with respect to each of Preparation Examples 1 to 9, each of the mixing ratio of compounds in the deposition film and in the remaining material of crucible are the same as the mixing ratio in the premixed deposition material.
Accordingly, it can be seen that the premixed deposition materials prepared according to Preparation Examples 1 to 9 were uniformly mixed, and, even in the deposition film, the compounds were uniformly deposited at the same ratio as the ratio of the premixed deposition materials.

Compound H1 (host) and Compound D1 (dopant) (3 wt %) were co-deposited on the electron blocking layer to form an emission layer having a thickness of 200 Å.
Compound MHBL 1 was deposited on the emission layer to form a hole blocking layer having a thickness of 50 Å, and then TPM-TAZ and Liq (5:5) were co-deposited on the hole blocking layer to form an electron transport layer having a thickness of 250 Å, thereby completing formation of a second emission unit.
Formation of Second Charge Generating Layer
nCHL and Li (1 wt %) were co-deposited on the second emission unit to form a second charge generating layer having a thickness of 50 Å.
Formation of Third Emission Unit

Formation of Second Electrode and Capping Layer
Yb was deposited on the third emission unit to form an electron injection layer having a thickness of 10 Å, Ag and Mg (10 wt %) were co-deposited on the electron injection layer to form a second electrode having a thickness of 100 Å, and then Compound CPL was deposited on the second electrode to form a capping layer having a thickness of 500 Å, thereby completing manufacture of an organic light-emitting device.
Each of the organic light-emitting devices was manufactured in substantially the same manner as in Example 1, except that, in forming a hole blocking layer of each of a first emission unit and a third emission unit, a material in Table 4 was used.
In order to evaluate characteristics of the organic light-emitting devices manufactured according to Examples 1 to 9 and Comparative Examples 1 to 2, driving voltage (V) at current density of 10 mA/cm2, efficiency (Cd/A), lifespan (T97), and luminance (nit) were measured by using Keithley MU 236 and luminance meter PR650, and results thereof are shown in Table 4. Lifespan (T95) refers to a time that is taken for the luminance to become 97% based on the initial luminance of 100%.
Referring to Table 4, it can be seen that the organic light-emitting devices manufactured according to Examples 1 to 9 have both excellent efficiency and excellent lifespan, compared to the organic light-emitting devices manufactured according to Comparative Examples 1 and 2.
For example, it can be seen that, in the material for the hole blocking layer, as the premixed ratios of Compounds HBL 2, HBL 3, and HBL 5 increases, lifespan increases, and as the premixed ratios of Compounds HBL 1 and HBL 4 increases, efficiency is improved.
In order to analyze the organic light-emitting devices manufactured according to Examples 1 to 9 and Comparative Examples 1 to 2, a DF ratio (%) due to TTF mechanism and a TTF decay lifespan were measured using TrEL intensity measurement, and results thereof are shown in Table 5.
Referring to Table 5, it can be seen that each of the organic light-emitting devices of Examples 1 to 9 has an equal or higher DF ratio due to TTF mechanism than the organic light-emitting devices of Comparative Examples 1 and 2, and a longer TTF decay lifetime.
Accordingly, it can be seen that, with respect to each of the organic light-emitting devices of Examples 1 to 9, as compared to the organic light-emitting devices of Comparative Examples 1 and 2, the DF ratio due to TTF mechanism increases such that the IQE of the organic light-emitting device increases, resulting in improvement in the efficiency of the organic light-emitting device, and the TTF decay lifetime increases such that the non-emission triplet in the emission layer decreases, and thus, TTA and TPQ decrease, resulting in improvement in the lifespan of the organic light-emitting device.
The organic light-emitting devices according to embodiments of the present disclosure have high efficiency and long lifespan at the same time.
