Claims
- 1. A method for collecting elevation and slope measurements from an eye, the method comprising:
- measuring one of the elevation and slope measurements; and
- measuring the other of the elevation and slope measurements by referencing the one of the elevation and slope measurements.
- 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising fitting an approximating surface to the elevation measurements, wherein the step of measuring the other of the elevation and slope measurements comprises measuring the slope measurements by referencing the approximating surface fitted to the elevation measurements.
- 3. A method of obtaining slope measurements from an eye comprising:
- measuring elevation of the eye to obtain elevation measurements;
- fitting a surface to said elevation measurements; and
- measuring slope of said eye with a slope measuring system and referencing said surface to obtain slope measurements.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said measuring elevation of the eye is performed using a slit beam diffuse reflection system.
- 5. The method of claim 4, wherein said slit beam diffuse reflection system is an ORBSCAN.TM. device.
- 6. The method of claim 3 wherein said measuring elevation of the eye is performed using a rasterstereography system.
- 7. The method of claim 3, wherein said measuring elevation of the eye is performed using an interferometry system.
- 8. The method of claim 3 wherein said surface is an approximating b-spline surface.
- 9. A method for mapping the topography of an eye, the method comprising:
- measuring the elevation of an eye to obtain elevation measurements;
- fitting a first surface to said elevation measurements;
- measuring slope of said eye with a slope measuring system and referencing said first surface to obtain slope measurements;
- blending said elevation measurements with said slope measurements to obtain blended measurements;
- calculating anterior chamber depth from said elevation measurements, said slope measurements and said blended measurements;
- measuring anterior chamber depth with an ultrasound device; and
- calibrating said ultrasound device based on the difference between said calculated anterior chamber depth and said measured anterior chamber depth.
- 10. An apparatus for mapping the topography of at least a part of an eye, the apparatus comprising:
- a Placido for obtaining slope measurements of at least a part of an eye;
- a slit beam system for obtaining elevation measurements of said at least a part of an eye;
- a computer processor coupled to said Placido and said slit beam system for processing said slope measurements and said elevation measurements to obtain blended measurements and the topography of at least a part of an eye;
- an ultrasound device coupled to said computer processor for measuring certain characteristics of said at least a part of an eye wherein said computer processor is configured calibrate said ultrasound device based on said elevation measurements, said slope measurements, and said blended measurements.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10 further comprising a display coupled to said computer processor for displaying the topography of at least a part of an eye.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a memory for storing data.
