Claims
- 1. A cyclone for the flash evaporation of liquids-containing solids which consists essentially of an inlet chamber, a separating part, a feed delivery pipe axially opening into a suddenly enlarged opening of the inlet chamber and wherein the cross-section of the inlet chamber is 5 to 30 times greater than that of the feed delivery pipe, wherein the inlet chamber is tangentially attached to said separating part and said separating part comprises a ring chamber to which said inlet chamber is connected and below which there is a separating cylinder of smaller diameter, said separating chamber having therebeneath a funnel-shaped member, said separating part having an inverted conical surface connecting said ring chamber and said separating cylinder, said inlet chamber before opening into the ring chamber being continuously reduced in width and continuously increased in height.
- 2. A cyclone as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the cross-section of the inlet chamber is 8 to 20 times greater than that of the product delivery pipe which opens into the inlet chamber.
- 3. A cyclone as claimed in claim 1, charaterized in that the ratio of the outer length to the greatest height of the inlet chamber is in the range of approximately 1.5 to 4.0.
- 4. A cyclone as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the innermost interior side-wall of the inlet chamber in the region of the entrance to the ring chamber is shaped so as to form an angle with the original direction of said innermost side-wall so that the deviation in relation to the original direction of the inner side-wall is approximately 1.degree. to 45.degree..
- 5. A cyclone as claimed in claim 5 characterized in that the side-walls of the inlet chamber are curved and said inlet chamber has a rectangular cross-section.
- 6. A cyclone as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the inner surface of the inlet chamber is extended into the ring chamber so that a deflecting plate is formed projecting into the ring chamber side.
- 7. The process for the flash evaporation of liquids containing solids, characterized in that a cyclone is employed as claimed in claim 6.
- 8. The use of the cyclone as claimed in claim 6 for the flash evaporation of the effluent of a saponifier bottom which forms in the propylene oxide production according to the chlorohydrin process.
- 9. The use of the cyclone as claimed in claim 1 for the flash evaporation of liquids containing solids.
- 10. The use as claimed in claim 9, characterized in that the liquid containing solids has solids with a particle size of below 100 .mu.m.
- 11. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the axis of the feed delivery pipe and the axis of the inlet chamber are the same.
- 12. The process for the flash evaporation of the effluent of a saponifier bottom which forms in the propylene oxide production according to the chlorohydrin process, characterized in that the effluent of the saponifier bottom is subjected to single or multi-stage flash evaporation with the aid of the cyclone as claimed in claim 2.
