Abstract
A device and system for a broom head blade is a blade fastened to the front of a broom. A blade is attached to the front and top of a broom head and serves as a plow assisting the user in managing various types of materials and general debris. A device and system for a broom head blade can help the user/broom operator remove and control all loose material and debris, including but not limited to snow, sand, mud, leaves, gravel, and general debris. A device and system for a broom head blade has edge brakes or “angles” along the top and bottom long edges, which allow the user to direct material and debris forward and to switch seamlessly between plowing/dozing/squeegeeing operations and instantly return to normal push broom sweeping tasks.
Description
BACKGROUND

The following discussion is not to be deemed admitted prior art but merely related art to show possible background and information related to brooms, push brooms, and squeegee apparatus'.


It is desirable to have a method of both sweeping and clearing debris when working with floors, sidewalks, streets, or other surfaces.


Typical devices consist of a shovel, a squeegee, or a broom.


A shovel allows for removal of larger, heavier debris, but does not move finer, lightweight debris.


A squeegee is best used with liquids on smooth surfaces.


A broom typically loosens dirt or debris and dislodges such debris from a a surface through a mechanical action.


Currently, there are some solutions to combine sweeping, shoveling, and squeegee actions to modify a broom. Some of these solutions attempt to use scrapers and squeegees, but these solutions fail to meet the needs of industry because they do not move debris, like but not limited to, snow, mud, sand, leaves, or other materials efficiently. Other solutions attempt to to incorporate scrapers or inefficient squeegees, but these solutions are similarly unable to meet the needs of the industry because they do not move debris, snow, mud, sand, leaves or other materials efficiently. Still, other solutions seek to scrape, but these solutions also fail to meet industry needs because they are not ergonomic, efficient, or durable.


Therefore, a need exists for a novel device to use as a re-usable, exchangeable broom blade that can efficiently move debris like snow, mud, sand, and leaves.


BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates generally to, but is not limited to, a broom head blade.


Disclosed are numerous aspects of a unique and inventive device and system for a broom head blade configured to move large debris from the front of a broom.


A device and system for a broom head blade may be for a broom of a plurality of sizes and styles.


It is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade in that a device and system for a broom head blade fills a critical gap between sweeping and shoveling operations. Furthermore, it is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade in that it allows the user/operator the option to manage and consolidate materials to be moved or disposed of quickly and easily into a specific area without the constant use of a shovel.


Furthermore, it is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade that can be easily attached to and removed from a broom. Furthermore, it is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade that allows a more complete cleaning/sweeping operation by eliminating the need to first “shovel” heavier/bulkier debris then follow with a sweeping operation. Furthermore, it is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade that fits a broom handle and broom head and allows for full operation of a broom. Furthermore, it is desirable to have a device and system for a broom head blade that maintains the original condition of a broom.


The disclosed invention advantageously fills these needs and addresses the aforementioned deficiencies by providing an easy-to-use, exchangeable, blade for a broom.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The order of the steps of disclosed processes may be altered within the scope of the invention.


This disclosure will now provide a more detailed and specific description that will refer to the accompanying drawings. The drawings and specific descriptions of the drawings, as well as any specific or alternative embodiments discussed, are intended to be read in conjunction with the entirety of this disclosure. The system for a broom head blade may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided by way of illustration only and so that this disclosure will be thorough, complete and fully convey understanding to those skilled in the art.


For the purposes of promoting an understanding of the principles of a device and system for a broom head blade, reference will now be made to the embodiments illustrated in the drawings and specific language will be used to describe the same, only as examples and not intended to be limiting.


Brooms as used herein may be, but not limited to, a push broom, a smooth surface push broom.


Disclosed is a device and system for a broom head blade, comprising the following components: (1) a blade 002; (2) a plurality of slots 003; (3) a plurality of corner brackets 004; (3) a plurality of angle braces 005; (4) a plurality of fasteners 006.


These components, generally speaking, are configured as follows: (1) a blade 002 and a plurality of slots 003; (2) is connected to a plurality of corner brackets 004; (3) slots 003 are located at a height and distance to allow corner brackets 004 to connect to a blade and a broom handle; (4) a slot 003 is located at a height and distance from the edge of the blade to allow a fastener to attach to a broom head; (5) an angle brace 005 is connected to a handle of a broom and to a broom head.


A device and system for a broom head blade may also have one or more of the following: a soft to medium durometer squeegee edge mechanically fastened to a blade 002.


The disclosed device and system for a broom head blade is unique when compared with other known devices and solutions because it provides: (1) a device and system for a broom head blade offers ample surface area which affords the user a much broader utility and presents the opportunity for a company name, department designation, logo, or promotional messaging; (2) a device and system for a broom head blade can be used commercially, industrially, or domestically; (3) a device and system for a broom head blade can move debris of different types such as the debris found at waste management, recycling facilities, large venue theme parks or stadiums; city, county and state parks or federal departments.


The disclosed device and system for a broom head blade is unique in that it is structurally different from other known devices or solutions. More specifically, the device is unique due to the presence of (1) a durable material available for re-use; (2) varying size and shape to fit different brooms.


Some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade comprise a blade 002; a plurality of slots 003; a plurality of corner brackets 004; a plurality of angle braces 005; a plurality of fasteners 006.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade comprises TWO-2″×2″ (5 cm×5 cm) corner brackets; a plurality of fasteners; ONE 23¾″ (60.325 cm) Long×5¾″ (14.605 cm) Wide× 3/16″ (0.476 cm) blade with 5 degree angle/brakes ⅝″ (1.5875 cm) in along its top and bottom long edges; a plurality of angle braces. These components are connected as follows: corner brackets are fastened to a blade through screw slots cut into a blade; corner brackets are fastened/screwed to the top of a broom head with zinc #14×1″ (2.54 cm) or 1¼″ (3.175 cm) self-tapping washer head style screws and connected/screwed to a broom blade by zinc ¼″ (0.635 cm)×¾″ (1.905 cm) carriage bolts and corresponding wing nuts through screw slots cut into the plastic blade; a “center” screw slot allows a blade to be secured directly to a broom head by a #14×1″ (2.54 cm) zinc panhead screw.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 may be made of materials like, but not limited to, Thick Haircell ABS plastic, plastic, ABS, TPE or TPU, PLA, HIPS, PET, PETG, Nylon, ASA, Polypropylene, PVA, metal, carbon fiber, laminated paper, vinyl, bamboo.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 is of a length, not meant to be limiting, of 10 inches to 40 inches (25 cm to 102 cm); a height, not meant to be limiting, of 3 inches to 10 inches (7 cm to 26 cm); a thickness, not meant to be limiting, of 1/10 inch to ½ inches (2.54 mm to 13 mm).


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 is painted, colored, and/or textured.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 may be outside radius cornered to eliminate sharp edges.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 may be flat.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 may have an angle/brake of 1 to 30 degrees of a distance from the edge, not meant to be limiting, of 1/10 inch to 1 inch (2.54 mm to 2.54 cm) along its long edge.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a blade 002 may have an angle/brake on none, either, or both of a top or bottom edge.

In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a corner bracket 004 may be made of materials like, but not limited to, Thick Haircell ABS plastic, plastic, ABS, TPE or TPU, PLA, HIPS, PET, PETG, Nylon, ASA, Polypropylene, PVA, metal, carbon fiber, laminated paper, vinyl, bamboo.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a corner bracket 004 may be a separate component.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a corner bracket 004 may be molded and part of the blade as a single unit.

In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade a n angle brace 005 may be made of materials like, but not limited to, metal, Thick Haircell ABS plastic, plastic, ABS, TPE or TPU, PLA, HIPS, PET, PETG, Nylon, ASA, Polypropylene, PVA, metal, carbon fiber, laminated paper, vinyl, bamboo.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade an angle brace 005 may have a mechanism via a collar and coupling to secure a broom 000.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade in its most complete version comprise the following components: (1) a blade 002; (2) a plurality of slots 003; (3) a plurality of corner brackets 004; (3) a plurality of angle braces 005; (4) a plurality of fasteners 006; (5) a squeegee 007; (6) an edge brake or angle along the top and bottom.


In some embodiments of versions of a device and system for a broom head blade these components are connected as follows to result in a single system: (1) a blade 002 and a plurality of slots 003; (2) is connected to a plurality of corner brackets 004; (3) slots 003 are located at a height and distance to allow corner brackets 004 to connect to a blade 002 and a broom 000 head; (4) a slot 003 is located at a height and distance from the edge of the blade to allow a fastener to attach to a broom 000 head; (5) an angle brace 005 is connected to a handle of a broom 000 and to a broom 000 head; (6) a squeegee 007 is connected with a plurality of fasteners to an edge of a blade 002.


In its most complete version, the device is made up of the following components a blade 002 with a neoprene/rubber 2″ W×23¾″ L×⅛″ thick squeegee 007 edge mechanically attached to the plastic blade on one edge only by a 1″ W×⅛″ thick brown/black anodized aluminum (or plastic) strip and ¾″×20 thread zinc washer head type screws and corresponding self-locking acorn nuts located on backside of blade 002; a blade 002 would have the ability to be loosened without being removed and then flipped over at its center screw retightened to offer the squeegee 007 or hard edge option via “Keyhole” shaped slots to achieve this function as described to allow the screw heads to pass through the face of the blade without being removed from the broom head; a “clip on”—“clip off” system incorporating clips to the back of a blade and clip receivers attached to the face of a broom head; an optional “clip on” attachment is also adjustable regarding the height of the blade to the work surface; a “clip on” option may allow a blade to be completely removed and stored separately or attached temporarily to a broom handle by clips attached to a broom handle while not in use on a broom.

Versions of the invention may be a method of adapting a broom with a device and system for a broom head blade, comprising: selecting a hypothetical broom 000 appropriate for a device and system for a broom head blade comprising a blade 002; a plurality of slots 003; a plurality of corner brackets 004; a plurality of angle braces 005; a plurality of fasteners 006.


An example of using a device and system for a broom head blade comprises selecting an appropriate broom; selecting a device and system for a broom head blade, attaching a device and system for a broom head blade to a broom; clearing debris from a particular area by pushing a device and system for a broom head blade.


In some embodiments a device and system for a broom head blade a method for clearing debris may comprise the steps of, but not be limited to, selecting a broom with an appropriate head and handle appropriate for a device having a blade; a plurality of fasteners; a plurality of slots in the blade; and a plurality of corner brackets; attaching the device to the broom head and handle; adjusting the blade to an appropriate height according to the debris to clear and type of surface with the debris; sweeping, pushing, and dozing the debris using the device and system for a broom; and whereby the area will be clear of at least some debris.


Versions of a device and system for a broom head blade may be made individually, in batches, or via continuous assembly.


For example, to make a version of a device and system for a broom head blade prepare an appropriate work surface and assemble all of the components disclosed herein. Assemble the raw materials in a logical order as someone skilled in the art would do. As an example, not meant to be limiting, start with a 3D printer; raw material to use in the 3D printer. Prepare the 3D printer by loading the plans and graphics for a broom head blade. Start the printer and watch as the broom blade is printed. Re-start the printer and watch as the corner brackets are printed. Assemble the corner brackets and blade to a hypothetical boom with fasteners. Using angle bracing brackets and connect the brackets to a broom handle.


Another example of making a version of a broom head blade would be as follows: (1) the broom blade comprises 5¾″×23¾41 × 3/16″ thick Hair Cell ABS plastic. Using these dimensions, 32 blade blanks can be sectioned from a typical 48″×96″ sheet of 3/16″ thick Haircell textured ABS plastic reflecting a nominal measurement 6″×24″. The actual less than nominal dimensions allow for slight differences in raw sheet size or waste produced by mechanical cutting instruments such as saw blades, router bits or other production methods. The screw slots which allow height adjustment of a broom blade in relation to the push broom head and work surface are then milled into and through the blade blanks with a CNC cutting system which ensures accuracy of placement and size. With the screw slot operation completed the blanks are now bent manually along their long edges at a 10 degree angle by use of an industrial metal brake at ⅝″ in from the top and bottom edges of the broom blade. The final step of the blade production is to manually deburr the corners of the finished blade with a fine metal file or other common deburring methods. At this point in the blade's production, a medium Durometer squeegee strip can be added to one of the long edges of the broom blade and fastened via screws, rivet, or other appropriate fasteners through a metal or plastic stabilizing strip to secure the squeegee strip along the entire length of the blade. This unit is then fastened to the push broom head with two L-Brackets screwed to the top of the wood broom head and through the screw slots of a broom blade.


Different features, variations and multiple different embodiments have been shown and described with various details. What has been described in this application at times in terms of specific embodiments is done for illustrative purposes only and without the intent to limit or suggest that what has been conceived is only one particular embodiment or specific embodiments. It is to be understood that this disclosure is not limited to any single specific embodiments or enumerated variations. Many modifications, variations and other embodiments will come to mind of those skilled in the art, and which are intended to be and are in fact covered by both this disclosure. It is indeed intended that the scope of this disclosure should be determined by a proper legal interpretation and construction of the disclosure, including equivalents, as understood by those of skill in the art relying upon the complete disclosure present at the time of filing.


The embodiments of a device and system for a broom head blade may be utilized individually, concurrently, or in any sequential combination.


Those skilled in the art to which this application relates will appreciate that other and further additions, deletions, substitutions and modifications may be made to the described embodiments.

Claims
  • 1. A device and system for a broom with a head and handle, comprising: a blade of a given length, width, and thickness having a top edge and bottom edge and a left end and a right end;a plurality of fasteners of a given length, diameter, thread, and style;a plurality of slots in the blade of a given height and width; anda plurality of corner brackets.
  • 2. The device and system of claim 1 further comprising: the blade connected to the broom head via at least one fastener through at least one slot.
  • 3. The device and system of claim 1 further comprising: at least one corner bracket connected to the broom head by at least one fastener; and the corner bracket connected to the blade by at least one fastener.
  • 4. The device and system of claim 1 further comprising: a squeegee attached to the blade along the top edge.
  • 5. The device and system of claim 1 further comprising: an angle/brake of 1 degree to 30 degrees of a given distance from either or both of the top edge or the bottom edge.
  • 6. The device and system of claim 1 further comprising: a plurality of angle braces wherein the angle braces are connected to the broom handle and the broom head via fasteners.
  • 7. A system for a broom with a head and handle, comprising: a blade of a given length, width, and thickness having a top edge and bottom edge and a left end and a right end;a plurality of fasteners of a given length, diameter, thread, and style;a plurality of slots in the blade of a given height and width; anda plurality of corner brackets.
  • 8. A method for clearing debris, the method comprising the steps of: selecting a broom with an appropriate head and handle appropriate for a device having a blade; a plurality of fasteners; a plurality of slots in the blade; and a plurality of corner brackets;attaching the device to the broom head and handle via the fasteners and the corner brackets;adjusting the blade to an appropriate height according to the debris to clear and type of surface with the debris;sweeping, pushing, and dozing the debris using the device and system for a broom; and whereby the area will be clear of at least some debris.
