Claims
- 1. A method comprising:
controlling, at least in part, by a first device, whether a first signal line of a second device is coupled to a bus and whether a second signal line of a third device is coupled to the bus; and after the first and second signal lines are coupled to the bus, supplying from the first device to the second and third devices, via the first and second signal lines, one or more signals that, after being received by the second and third devices, permit, at least in part, at least one of control and configuration by the first device of the second and third devices.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein:
the one or more signal comprise Initialization Device Select (IDSEL) signals.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
coupling the first device to a bus interface; and supplying via the interface at least one signal that controls, at least in part, whether at least one signal line of the second device is coupled to a fourth device.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein:
the at least one signal line comprises at least one interrupt signal line of the second device; and the fourth device comprises an interrupt controller.
- 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
coupling the third device to a bus interface; and supplying from the interface at least one signal that controls, at least in part, whether at least one signal line of the third device is coupled to a fourth device.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein:
the at least one signal line comprises at least one interrupt signal line; and the fourth device comprises an interrupt controller.
- 7. The method of claim 5, wherein:
the at least one signal also controls, at least in part, whether the second signal line is coupled to the bus.
- 8. An apparatus comprising:
a first device to control, at least in part, whether a first signal line of a second device is coupled to a bus, to control, at least in part, whether a second signal line of a third device is coupled to the bus, and after the first and second signal lines are coupled to the bus, to supply to the second and third devices, via the first and second signal lines, one or more signals that, after being received by the second and third devices, permit, at least in part, at least one of control and configuration by the first device of the second and third devices.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:
the one or more signals comprise Initialization Device Select (IDSEL) signals.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:
the first device is capable of being coupled to a bus interface that is capable of supplying at least one signal that controls, at least in part, whether at least one signal line of the second device is coupled to a fourth device.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein:
the at least one signal line comprises at least one interrupt signal line of the second device; and the fourth device comprises an interrupt controller.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:
the third device is capable of being coupled to a bus interface; and when the third device is coupled to the interface, the interface is capable of supplying at least one signal that controls, at least in part, whether at least one signal line of the third device is coupled to a fourth device.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein:
the at least one signal line comprises at least one interrupt signal line; and the fourth device comprises an interrupt controller.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein:
the at least one signal also controls, at least in part, whether the second signal line is coupled to the bus.
- 15. An article comprising:
a storage medium having stored thereon instructions that when executed by a machine result in the following: controlling, at least in part, by a first device, whether a first signal line of a second device is coupled to a bus, and whether a second signal line of a third device is coupled to the bus; and after the first and second signal lines are coupled to the bus, supplying from the first device to the second and third devices, via the first and second signal lines, one or more signals that, after being received by the second and third devices, permit, at least in part, at least one of control and configuration by the first device of the second and third devices.
- 16. The article of claim 15, wherein:
the one or more signals comprise Initialization Device Select (IDSEL) signals.
- 17. A system comprising:
a circuit board including a bus, a first bus interface, a second bus interface, and at least one input/output (I/O) device; and a first device and a second device capable of being coupled to the bus via the first interface and the second interface, respectively, and when the first device and the second device are coupled to the bus via the first interface and the second interfaces, the first device is capable of controlling, at least in part, whether a first signal line of the second device is coupled to the bus and whether a second signal line of the at least one I/O device is coupled to the bus, and after the first and second signal lines are coupled to the bus, the first device is also capable of supplying to the second device and to the at least one I/O device, via the first and second signal lines, one or more signals that, after being received by the second device and by the at least one I/O device, permit, at least in part, at least one of control and configuration by the first device of the second device and the at least one I/O device.
- 18. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the at least one I/O device comprises at least one of a data storage controller, a network data communication controller, and a server management controller; and the first device comprises an I/O processor.
- 19. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the second device comprises at least one of a data storage controller, network data communication controller, and a server management controller.
- 20. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the circuit board also includes a modular redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) on motherboard (MROMB) mechanism coupled to the second interface.
- 21. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the circuitry board also includes a modular redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) on motherboard (MROMB) mechanism coupled to the at least one I/O device.
- 22. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the first device comprises a first circuit card; the second device comprises a second circuit card; the first interface comprises a first circuit card slot that is capable of receiving the first circuit card; and the second interface comprises a second circuit card slot that is capable of receiving the second circuit card.
- 23. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the circuit board also includes an interrupt controller and a jumper to select a control signal to be supplied to a modular redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) on motherboard (MROMB) mechanism, and the control signal controls, at least in part, whether an interrupt signal line from the second interface is coupled to the interrupt controller.
- 24. The system of claim 23, wherein:
the control signal also controls whether the first signal line is coupled to the bus.
- 25. The system of claim 17, wherein:
the first and second signal lines are Initialization Device Select (IDSEL) signal lines.
- 26. A circuit board comprising:
a first interface to receive and couple a first device to a bus; a second interface to receive and couple a second device to the bus; at least one input/output (I/O) device; and a modular redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) on motherboard (MROMB) mechanism coupled to the first interface, the second interface, and the at least one I/O device, the MROMB mechanism being capable of receiving a first control signal from the first interface that is capable of controlling, at least in part, whether first signal line of the second interface and a second signal line of the at least one I/O device are coupled to the bus.
- 27. The circuit board of claim 26, wherein:
the MROMB mechanism is also capable of receiving a second control signal from the first interface that is capable of controlling, at least in part, whether one or more interrupt signal lines of the at least one I/O device are coupled to an interrupt controller.
- 28. The circuit board of claim 26, further comprising:
a jumper to select a second control signal that is capable of controlling, at least in part, whether an interrupt signal line of second interface is coupled to an interrupt controller.
- 29. The circuit board of claim 28, wherein:
the second control signal is also capable of controlling, at least in part, whether the first signal line is coupled to the bus.
- 30. The circuit board of claim 26, wherein:
the first and second signal lines are Initialization Device Select (IDSEL) signal lines.
