Abstract
A device for displaying the exercise information of a sports apparatus includes a RS-232 transmission line connected with a micro-processor unit (MPU) that is connected with a monitor menu controller, which is provided for modulating the brightness, the contrast ratio and the vertical and horizontal location displayed on a monitor. The MPU transmits the RS-232 instruction between a sports apparatus and the monitor menu controller and also transmits signals to a microprocessor in the interior of the monitor. The signal put in order by the video controller is transmitted to the monitor menu controller that carries out two-way communication with a video modulator of a monitor. Thus the exercise information produced by an exerciser on a sports apparatus can be displayed on the monitor.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a device for displaying the exercise information of a sports apparatus on a monitor, particularly to one able to transmit the exercise information of a sports apparatus to a monitor menu controller through an instruction transmission control protocol and a micro-processor unit (MPU), and then the exercise information is transmitted to a scaler. By so designing, the exercise information of a sports apparatus can be displayed on the monitor anytime, enabling an exerciser to know immediate exercise information.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Generally, to avoid making an exerciser feel uninteresting during taking exercise, some sports apparatuses are respectively provided thereon with a monitor so that the exerciser can watch and enjoy what is broadcast on the monitor during taking exercise, having effects of both exercise and amusement.

However, the contents broadcast on the conventional monitor of a sports apparatus are for amusement only. To let an exerciser know the exercise information of the sports apparatus, a special instrument has to be additionally installed on the sports apparatus. Under this condition, the exerciser has to watch both the monitor and the special instrument at the same time, resulting in much inconvenience in use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The objective of the invention is to offer a device for displaying the exercise information of a sports apparatus on a monitor so that an exerciser can know immediate exercise information displayed on the monitor.

The device for displaying the exercise information of a sports apparatus in the present invention includes an RS-232 transmission line connected with a micro-processor unit that is connected with a monitor menu controller to enable the monitor menu controller to modulate the brightness, the contrast ratio and the vertical and the horizontal location displayed on a monitor. The microprocessor unit is provided for transmitting the instruction of the RS-232 and also for transmitting signals to a microprocessor in the interior of the monitor. Then, the signal, after being put in order, is transmitted to the monitor menu controller that carries out two-way communication with a scaler of the monitor. By so designing, the exercise information of the sports apparatus can be displayed on the monitor.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a block diagram of a monitor control chip module in the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a device for displaying the sports information of a sports apparatus in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, includes an analogue-to-digital converter 10, a video decoder 11, a de-interlacer 12, a scaler 13, an EEPROM 14, a SDRAM 15, a micro-processor 16, a micro-processor unit (MPU) 20, a sports apparatus 21 and a monitor menu controller 22.

The analogue-to-digital converter 10 is provided for converting the analogue signals of a computer display cards into digital signals.

The video decoder 11 is provided for separating the analogue signals of composite signals and S terminals, and converting them into digital signals.

The de-interlacer 12 is provided for converting the interlacing scanning of video signal into row-by-row sequential scanning employed by newly designed display devices.

The scaler 13 is provided for modulating the extent of analysis as well as the shape and the size of a picture plane loaded in different image-and-sound devices and rewriting them into original pixel matrix of an LCD.

The EEPROM 14 and the SDRAM 15 are temporary storage spaces for instruction. The ROM 14 is an electrically erasable programmable ROM, while the DRAM 15 is a synchronous DRAM.

The microprocessor 16 is provided for video processing and controlling.

The microprocessor unit (MPU) 20 is provided for transmitting the RC-232 instruction between the sports apparatus 21 and the monitor menu controller 22, able to transmit signals to the microprocessor 16.

The sports apparatus 21 is used exclusively for an LCD, such as a stationary training bike, a walking machine and the like.

The monitor menu controller 22 is provided for modulating the brightness, the contrast ratio and the vertical and horizontal location displayed on the monitor and carrying out two-way communication with the scaler 13, able to receive the signals transmitted by the microprocessor 16.

When the foresaid components are orderly combined together for use, the exercise information given out of the sports apparatus-21, such as power, value of heartbeat, threshold value under a no-oxygen condition and the like, will be transmitted to the micro-processor unit 20 through the RS-232 transmission line. Then, the microprocessor unit 20 will transmit the signal to both the monitor menu controller 22 and the microprocessor 16. After the video signal is processed and controlled by the microprocessor 16, the monitor menu controller 22 has the video signal communicating in bi-direction with the scaler 13. Finally, the exercise information of the sports apparatus is display on the LCD, enabling an exerciser to know the immediate exercise information from the monitor (the LCD). By so designing, an exerciser can take exercise, watch entertaining contents and understand the exercise information from the foreground of the monitor at the same time.

In addition, the RS-232 transmission line is employed for transmitting instruction. The instruction transmission control protocol of the RS-232 line could be summarized as follows:

1. The instruction transmission control protocol displayed to TV cable by forced changeover is 02H, 01H, and 03H.

2. The instruction transmission control protocol displayed to Video in by forced changeover is 02H, A0H, and A2H.

3. The instruction transmission control protocol of modulation of sound volume is 02H, 06H and CS.

4. The instruction transmission control protocol of channel selection is 02H, 08H, and CS.

5. The instruction transmission control protocol of color depth of character background is 03H, 80H, 03H, and CS.

6. The instruction transmission control protocol of displaying the picture of one inner character code is 06H, 20H, 03H, 05H, 64H, 40H, and CS.

7. The instruction transmission control protocol of defining one display window is 08H, 70H, 01H, 13H, 00H, 19, 11, and CS.

Substantially, this invention is of creativity and practicability.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
