Claims
- 1. In a device for holding flip cards each having a plurality of aligned apertures near one edge;
- a cover hingedly mounted, at a first edge thereof, with respect to the remainder of said device, whereby said cover may be moved between a closed and a fully open position;
- retaining means secured to said cover near said first edge and at a securement position spaced from said first edge along the length of said cover, said retaining means defining at least one protruding ring, each ring being adapted to extend through an aperture in each of said cards to permit the card to be turned in the manner of a page of a book; and
- displacing means disposed near said first edge and actuated when said cover is moved toward said fully open position for withdrawing part of each card from said remainder of said device while permitting part of each card to remain in such remainder, at least a portion of said displacing means being spaced from said cover in the protruding direction of said retaining means, said protion engaging at least one of said cards and moving away from said remainder of said device as said cover is moved towards said fully open position.
- 2. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said remainder comprises compartment with an open top, said cover being hingedly mounted thereto so as to close said top.
- 3. A device according to claim 2 wherein said compartment comprises a bottom wall and at least one side wall extending upwardly therefrom to form a substantially closed perimeter for said compartment, said perimeter having a first portion which is of a lesser height than the remainder of said perimeter by at least the thickness of said cover, said cover being shaped to be substantially surrounded by said perimeter and to be flush with the upper edge thereof when closed, said cover having an overlap portion which extends into the reduced height portion of said perimeter, whereby said container is effectively sealed.
- 4. A device according to claim 3 wherein said perimeter includes a second portion of reduced height, said cover being mounted so that said means for laterally displacing extends into said second reduced height portion when said cover is closed, said means for laterally displacing being substantially flush to said perimeter when said cover is closed.
- 5. A device according to claim 4 wherein said perimeter and said means for laterally displacing include complementary means for sealingly closing said device.
- 6. A device according to claim 5 wherein said complementary means are oppositely slanted bevels disposed on confronting edges of said perimeter and said means for laterally displacing.
- 7. A device according to any of claims 3, 4, 5, or 6 wherein spaced locations on the periphery of said cover and respective locations near the upper edge of said perimeter include complementary components defining detent means for securing said cover in its closed position.
- 8. A device according to any of claims 3, 4, 5, or 6 wherein said bottom wall is generally rectangular in shape and said perimeter includes four side walls extending upwardly from said bottom wall to form a compartment with an open top.
- 9. A device according to claim 7 wherein said bottom wall is generally rectangular in shape and said perimeter includes four side walls extending upwardly from said bottom wall to form a compartment with an open top.
- 10. A device according to any of claims 3, 4, 5, or 6 wherein said bottom wall includes a lifter which supports the cards at the end distant from the retaining means.
- 11. A device according to any of claim 7, wherein said bottom wall includes a lifter which supports the cards at the end distant from the retaining means.
- 12. A device according to any of claim 8, wherein said bottom wall includes a lifter which supports the cards at the end distant from the retaining means.
- 13. A device according to any of claim 9, wherein said bottom wall includes a lifter which supports the cards at the end distant from the retaining means.
- 14. A device according to claim 1, wherein said device is made of plastic.
