Claims
- 1. A device for mowing and cutting, comprising:
- a frame;
- cutting means coupled to said frame;
- a protective bar comprising first and second ends pivotally secured to said frame, and an intermediate portion between said first and said second ends;
- supporting means coupled to said frame for supporting said intermediate portion of said protective bar;
- biasing means coupled to said protective bar for biasing said protective bar away from said frame, thereby configuring the device for mowing, wherein said biasing means is responsive to pressure exerted against said protective bar enabling said intermediate portion to slide toward said frame and said first and said second ends to pivot, thereby exposing said cutting means for cutting.
- 2. A device according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a first anchor pivot bolt for securing said first end of said protective bar to said frame; and
- a second anchor pivot bolt for securing said second end of said protective bar to said frame.
- 3. A device according to claims 1, further comprising:
- a tail wheel arm coupled to said frame; and
- a tail wheel coupled to said tail wheel arm.
- 4. A device according to claim 1, wherein said supporting means defines a slot, wherein said intermediate portion slides within said slot.
- 5. A device according to claim 1, wherein said protective bar comprises:
- a first arcuate section; and
- a second arcuate section.
- 6. A device according to claim 5, wherein said biasing means comprises:
- a first spring coupled to said first arcuate section; and
- a second spring coupled to said second arcuate section, wherein said first spring is responsive to pressure exerted against said first arcuate section and said second spring is responsive to pressure exerted against said second arcuate section.
- 7. A device according to claim 5, further comprising:
- a deck coupled to said frame, said deck lying in a plane substantially parallel to a path of said cutting means;
- a first lateral shroud coupled to said deck and disposed below said plane along a first lateral side of the device; and
- a second lateral shroud coupled to said deck and disposed below said plane along a second lateral side of the device, wherein said cutting means is exposed from said first lateral side to said second lateral side for cutting.
- 8. A device according to claim 7, wherein said first arcuate section and said second arcuate section are independently movable.
- 9. A device according to claim 5, wherein said first arcuate section and said second arcuate section are independently movable.
- 10. A device according to claim 1, wherein said biasing means comprises a spring.
- 11. A device according to claim 1, further comprising:
- dispensing means for dispensing a chemical onto said cutting means, wherein said cutting means is configured so that the chemical is dispersed as said cutting means is rotated.
- 12. A device according to claim 1, wherein a portion of said cutting means extends beyond at least a portion of one end of said frame.
- 13. A device according to claim 12, further comprising:
- a tail wheel arm coupled to said frame; and
- a tail wheel coupled to said tail wheel arm.
- 14. A device according to claim 12, further comprising:
- a tail wheel arm coupled to said supporting means; and
- a tail wheel coupled to said tail wheel arm.
- 15. A device according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a deck coupled to said frame, said deck lying in a plane substantially parallel to a path of said cutting means;
- 16. A device according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a tail wheel arm coupled to said supporting means; and
- a tail wheel coupled to said tail wheel arm.
