Claims
- 1. A device for producing a scoring line in the cylindrical wall of a plastic cup, particularly of a cap (10) which is meant to close a container and is composed of a cup (11) and of a tamper-evident ring (12) which protrudes from the rim of the cup, comprising: a cup retaining means (8) which is provided with retaining means for positioning and retaining a cup (11) applied thereon; a plurality of jaws (24), articulated so as to oscillate on planes which lie radially with respect to said axis (A); respective circular arc-shaped blades (30) being applied to said jaws (24) and being arranged on a plane which is perpendicular to said axis (A) of said mandrel (8); jaw actuation means (2) for said jaws (24) being further provided so as to actuate said arc-shaped blades (30) radially from a position which is external to said cup (11) to a position for engaging the cylindrical wall of said cup (11) at which said blades (30) form a scoring line in said wall, characterized in that said cup retaining means are constituted by a mandrel (8) which is supported so as to be slidable along its own axis (A), said jaws (24) being articulated (22) at a first end thereof at said mandrel (8), and said arc-shaped blades (30) being applied at the opposite end of the jaws (24), and in that mandrel actuation means (37) are further provided for actuating said mandrel (8) for movement with respect to said jaw actuation means (2) and so as to cause, in cooperation with the jaw actuation means (2), oscillation of said jaws (24) and actuation of said arc-shaped blades (30).
- 2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that said actuation means are constituted by a receptacle element (2) which forms a seat (7) for the sliding of said mandrel (8), said receptacle element having a rim (26) which acts as an abutment for said jaws (24), so as to actuate the radial movement of said blades (30) when said mandrel (8) is actuated with respect to said receptacle element (2), said jaws (24) being constituted by sectors whose outer surface is substantially conical, springs (25) being arranged between said mandrel (8) and said jaws (24) and being suitable to keep the conical outer surface of said jaws (24) in contact against the rim (26) of said receptacle element (2).

The device according to claim 1, characterized in that said actuation means are constituted by a receptacle element (2) which forms a seat for the sliding of said mandrel (8), said receptacle element (2) having a wall in which bearings (74) are supported which lie on planes which are radial with respect to the axis (A) of said mandrel (8), said jaws (24) being constituted by sectors whose outer surface is substantially conical and in contact with said bearings (74), so as to actuate the radial movement of said blades (30) when said mandrel (8) is actuated with respect to said receptacle element (2), springs (25) being arranged between said mandrel (8) and said jaws (24), said springs being suitable to keep the conical outer is surface of said jaws (24) rested against said bearings (74).
- 4. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that each one of said jaws has a seat (28) for accommodating a block (29) for fixing a blade (30).
- 5. The device according to claim 4, characterized in that said block (29) has a seat (34) for a cutter (35) whose sharp edge lies on a plane which is radial with respect to said mandrel (8), is aligned with the cutting edge of said blades (30) and is suitable to score said tamper-evident ring (12) transversely.
- 6. The device according to claim 5, characterized in that the cutting edge of said blades (30) has notches (33) which are suitable to form bridges for joining the tamper-evident ring (12) to the cup (11) after forming the scoring line.
- 7. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that said mandrel (8) has a shank (9) for positioning said cup (11) which has an annular cutter (41a) suitable to cut the bottom of said cup (11).
- 8. A machine comprising the device according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises: a vertical shaft (41) which is rotationally actuated; a disk (44), which is rotationally rigidly coupled to the top of said shaft (41) and supports a plurality of said devices (1) which are angularly equidistant and arranged concentrically around said shaft (41); a tray (47) for receiving the caps (10) which is rotationally rigidly coupled to said shaft (41) below said devices; a flange (46), which rotates rigidly with said shaft (41) below said tray (47); a plurality of seats (50) and openings (49a) which are formed in said flange (46) and in said tray (47) respectively, said seats (50) and openings (49a) being vertically aligned with respective devices (1); respective bars (51) being guided in said seats (50) and said openings (49a), said bars being controlled by an axial cam (56) which is arranged in a stationary configuration around said shaft (41); said bars (51) being actuated in succession by said cam (56) so as to perform an active stroke and a return stroke between a lowered position and a raised position, said active stroke being suitable to cause the lifting of the caps (10) from said receiving tray (47), their centering on the respective mandrels (8), the lifting of the mandrels (8) and the actuation of the blades (30) to produce a scoring line around the cap, said return stroke being suitable to cause the deposition of the cut caps (10) onto said receiving tray (47).
- 9. A machine comprising the device of claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises: a vertical shaft (41) which is rotationally actuated; a flange (59), which rotates rigidly with said shaft (41) and is provided with a plurality of bushes (60) which are parallel to said shaft, are angularly equidistant and are arranged concentrically around said shaft; a plurality of devices (1) slidingly guided within said bushes (60); a tray (61) for receiving the caps which rotates rigidly with said shaft (41) below said devices (1); a drum (62) which is rotationally fixed to said shaft (41) and is provided with a plurality of guides (63) which are parallel to said bushes (60); respective sliding blocks (64) being slideable in said guides (63), each sliding block being connected to a respective device (1), said sliding blocks being controlled by an axial cam (69) which is stationary around said shaft, said sliding blocks (64) being actuated in succession by said cam (69) so as to perform an active stroke and a return stroke between a lowered position and a raised position; said active stroke being suitable to determine the centering of said mandrels (8) on the respective caps (10) arranged on said receiving tray (61) and the actuation of the blades (30) to produce the scoring line around the caps; said return stroke being suitable to cause the lifting of said devices (1) and the disengagement of said mandrels (8) from said caps (10).
- 10. The machine according to claim 8, characterized in that said shank (9) has an external set of teeth (85) which is composed of teeth whose angular distance and shape are such that they engage in gaps (79) of the tamper-evident ring (12) formed by flaps (78) which protrude inside the cap (10), and in that at the top of each one of said bars (51) a rotatably supported bush (97) is arranged which is provided with a seat (99) for positioning a cap (10), actuation elements (98, 101) being provided in order to make said bush (97) turn, during the fitting of said cap (10) over said shank (9), so as to determine the angular positioning of said cap (10) with respect to said shank (9) and the engagement of the outer set of teeth (85) of said shank (9) in said gaps (79).
- 11. The machine according to claim 10, characterized in that said actuation elements are constituted by a set of teeth (98) which is formed externally to said bush (97) and is controlled by an-actuation gear (101).
