- 8. The device of claim 7 wherein said device comprises an inner cylindrical container snugly fit within an outer cylindrical container and where a slot in one or both of said containers forms said transfer channel within said outer wall.
- 9. The device of claim 8 wherein a disc is disposed snugly within said outer container against a bottom wall of said inner container, which disc contains a slot to provide an extension of said transfer channel from said outer wall of said reaction chamber to a location at or near the center of said bottom wall of said reaction chamber.
- 10. The device of claim 4 wherein said transfer means comprises one or more tubular channels extending rectilinearly through said chambers.
- 11. The device of claim 4 wherein said piston further comprises a piston shaft integral with said piston extending upwards through the center of said separation chamber and through an opening within said top wall of said separation chamber such that said separation chamber is annular in shape.
- 12. The device of claim 11 wherein said piston shaft is hollow and contains a means for dispensing a solvent and further wherein said piston, shaft and dispensing means are adapted to dispense said solvent into said reaction chamber.
- 13. The device of claim 12 wherein said dispensing means is a syringe cartridge in fluid connection with a second fluid transfer means within said piston.
- 14. The device of claim 13 wherein said dispensing means is further adapted to receive and collect a solution resulting from the dissolving of said blood component with said solvent.
- 15. In a device for separating components from a liquid by way of centrifugation about a central axis of rotation and comprising a first annular chamber defined by an outer cylindrical wall and an inner cylindrical wall, both walls being concentrically accommodated about said axis of rotation, as well as by a top wall and a bottom wall, where the bottom wall is formed by a piston body displaceable within said first chamber, said device further comprising a second chamber in fluid communication with the first chamber through a first conduit wherein said second chamber is defined by an outer cylindrical wall concentrically accommodated about the axis of rotation and by said piston body and a bottom wall, where said second chamber is adapted to be positioned below the first chamber during the centrifugation, and where said device also comprises blood feeding means for feeding blood to the first chamber and composition feeding means for feeding composition promoting the separation as well as receiving means for the connection of at least one liquid-receiving container, where the receiving means is in fluid communication with the second chamber through a second conduit, the improvement wherein the first conduit comprises at least one channel extending between an opening at the top of the wall of the first chamber and an opening at the bottom wall of the second chamber.
- 16. A device as claimed in claim 15, characterized in that said at least one channel extends through the interior of the outer cylindrical wall in both the first and the second chamber.
- 17. A device as claimed in claim 16, characterized in that the opening of at least one channel at the bottom wall of the second chamber is centrally accommodated in the chamber in connection with a recess formed by the bottom wall.
- 18. The device as claimed in claim 17, wherein the outer cylindrical wall of said first chamber and the outer cylindrical wall of said second chamber comprise a common outer cylindrical wall shaped by an outer and inner cylinder sealingly fitting one another and defining therebetween an axially extending channel, and further wherein the cylinders are terminated at one end by an end wall comprising an opening allowing passage of a piston rod connected to the piston body, said piston body forming the bottom wall of the first chamber and separating said first chamber from the second chamber, and where the channel extends between the end walls of the cylinders to an opening immediately adjacent the piston rod.
- 19. A device as claimed in claim 16, characterized in that the first and the second chamber comprise a common outer cylindrical wall shaped by an outer and an inner cylinder sealingly fitting one another and defining therebetween an axially extending channel, that the cylinders are terminated at one end by an end wall comprising an opening allowing passage of a piston rod connected to the piston body, said piston body forming the bottom wall of the first chamber and separating said first chamber from the second chamber, and where the channel extends between the end walls of the cylinders to an opening immediately adjacent the piston rod.
