Claims
- 1. A device for automatic introduction and reception of a fiber sliver end into a textile machine having a fiber sliver feeding mechanism, said device comprising a first grasping device for taking up a first predetermined length of fiber sliver, and a second grasping device for receiving and grasping said first predetermined length of fiber sliver from said first grasping device and shortening said first predetermined length of fiber sliver to a second predetermined length of fiber sliver for subsequent conveying of said fiber sliver end to said feeding mechanism.
- 2. The device as in claim 1, wherein said first grasping device comprises a suction pipe.
- 3. The device as in claim 2, wherein said suction pipe comprises an internal delimiting device for defining a defined length of fiber silver to be sucked into said suction pipe.
- 4. The device as in claim 3 wherein said internal delimiting device comprises a sieve.
- 5. The device as in claim 4, wherein said fiber sliver is made up of fibers having a staple length and wherein said sieve has a length which is generally greater than the staple length so as to prevent individual fibers from catching in said sieve.
- 6. The device as in claim 1, wherein said first grasping device is movable in a direction to a fiber sliver storage can for grasping an end of the fiber sliver from said storage can.
- 7. The device as in claim 6, wherein said first grasping device is movable in a direction around the rim of said storage can so as to grasp a length of the fiber sliver overhanging said rim.
- 8. The device as in claim 7, wherein said first grasping device comprises a suction pipe, said suction pipe configured to draw in a length of the fiber sliver overhanging said rim.
- 9. The device as in claim 1, wherein said second grasping device comprises a roller clamp device.
- 10. The device as in claim 9, wherein said roller clamp device comprises at least two rollers which are radially adjustable relative each other.
- 11. The device as in claim 10, wherein at least one of said rollers is a driven roller.
- 12. The device as in claim 11, wherein said driven roller is configured to be driven in either direction.
- 13. The device as in claim 1, further comprising a sensor disposed proximate said second grasping device to detect an end of the fiber sliver.
- 14. The device as in claim 1, wherein said second grasping device is movable to a loop catcher of said feeding mechanism so as to convey said fiber sliver through said loop catcher.
- 15. The device as in claim 14, further comprising a suction pipe configured to draw said fiber sliver through said loop catcher, said suction pipe further comprising a cone-shaped insert for shaping the end of said fiber sliver into a point for subsequent feeding to said feeding mechanism.
- 16. The device as in claim 15, further comprising a blow nozzle disposed at an angle to the end of said fiber sliver in said insert for blowing loose fibers from the end of said fiber sliver.
- 17. The device as in claim 15, wherein said suction pipe is moveable between said loop catcher and said feeding mechanism.
- 18. The device as in claim 1, further comprising a depressor mechanism configured to open said feed mechanism before introduction of said fiber sliver into said feed mechanism.
- 19. The device as in claim 1, further comprising a moveable conveyor mechanism configured to convey the fiber sliver to said feed mechanism, said conveyor mechanism being moveable to a position generally in front of said feeding mechanism.
- 20. The device as in claim 19, wherein said conveyor mechanism comprises a driven conveyor belt.
- 21. The device as in claim 20, further comprising a cleaning device for cleaning the surface of said conveyor belt.
- 22. The device as in claim 20, wherein said conveyor belt comprises an anti-static conveyor belt.
- 23. The device as in claim 1, wherein said device is operably configured on a travelling service unit which services said textile machine.
- 24. The device as in claim 1, wherein said device is operably configured on a travelling can conveying vehicle.
