- 12. The kit of claim 10 further comprising gas permeable membrane means covering said carbon dioxide indicator means for adhering the indicator means to the surface of the lumen means and for preventing the indicator means from entering passing air.
- 13. The kit of claim 10 further including a recess defined in the surface of the lumen means with said indicator means mounted therein.
- 14. The kit of claim 10 wherein said indicator means comprises a colorimetric carbon dioxide indicator substance and solid support means for supporting the indicator substance while still permitting unimpeded bidirectional flow of air through the housings.
- 15. The kit of claim 10 wherein said second housing comprises a tubing connector having a passage therethrough which defines the housing lumen means, and said indicator means is mounted within the passage of the connector.
- 16. The kit of claim 15 wherein the tubing connector comprises an elbow joint, u-joint or in-line connector.
- 17. A device for use in connection with an endotrachael tube for maintaining an open air passage into and out of a patient's trachea, the endotracheal tube having a first and second end, the first end of the endotracheal tube being adapted for insertion into the trachea, and the second end adapted for placement external of the patient, the endotracheal tube defining lumen means therethrough from the first end to the second end, the device comprising:
