Claims
- 1. A method to use a device to treat the temporomandibular joint of a patient comprising the steps of:wrapping a device to contact the temporomandibular joint, the chin and the parietal area of a patient by use of an extension around the angle of the jaw; inflating the device to apply a pressure to the temporomandibular joint region; cooling a conductive layer of the device wherein the conductive layer contacts the temporomandibular joint region; and heating the device to supply direct heat to the masticatory muscles, the temporomandibular joint and temporal regions.
- 2. A device to treat the maxillomandibular region of a patient comprising:a fabric layer anatomically designed to contact the maxillomandibular region, the chin and the parietal area of a patient by use of an extension around the angle of the jaw; a cryo gas source; an inflatable layer in flow communication with the cryo gas source and selectively compressible to conform to the contour of the facial part as the cryo gas fills the inflatable layer; said inflatable layer attached to said fabric layer; and a removable hard plate placed on said fabric layer, wherein said plate is lateral to the patient's skin to resist bulging of said inflatable layer.
- 3. The method defined in claim 2, further comprising the step of removably attaching a hard plate to said fabric layer, wherein said hard plate is lateral to the patient's skin to resist bulging of said inflatable layer.
- 4. A method to use a device for treating a facial part selected from the maxillomandibular region, the chin, the parietal area and a combination thereof of a patient, said device comprising:a fabric layer automatically designed to contact the facial part by use of an extension around the angle of the jaw; a cryo gas source; and an inflatable layer in flow communication with the cryo gas source; said method comprising the steps of: wrapping the fabric layer to contact the facial part; attaching the inflatable layer to the fabric; delivering the cryo gas to the inflatable layer, thereby cooling and selectively compressing it so as to conform the compressed inflatable layer to the contour of and to direct compression to the bodily part.
- 5. A device for treating a bodily part selected from the group consisting of the temporomandibular joint, the chin, the parietal area and a combination thereof, comprising:a fabric layer anatomically designed to contact the bodily part by use of an extension around the angle of the jaw; a cryo gas source; an inflatable layer in flow communication with the cryo gas source and selectively compressible to conform to the contour of the bodily part as the cryo gas fills the inflatable layer and to direct compression to the bodily part; said inflatable layer attached to said fabric layer; and a heater attached to the fabric layer to provide heating of the bodily part.
- 6. A method to use a device for treating a bodily part selected from the group consisting of the temporomandibular joint, the chin, the parietal area and a combination thereof, comprising:a fabric layer anatomically designed to contact the bodily part by use of an extension around the angle of the jaw; a cryo gas source; an inflatable layer in flow communication with the cryo gas source and attached to said fabric layer; and a heater attached to the fabric layer to provide heating of the bodily part, the method comprising the steps of: wrapping a fabric layer to contact the bodily part to be treated; supplying the cryo gas to the inflatable layer, thereby cooling the inflatable layer to compress it so as to conform to the contour of and to direct compression to the bodily part; and heating the fabric layer to supply direct heat to bodily part to be treated.
