The present invention relates to optic scope mounts.
Determining the correct height of scope mounts (Rings or unimount) is necessary for correct sight height and eye relief, it is currently a trial and error process.
This is expensive, time consuming and sometimes not practical.
The above disadvantage is addressed by a fixture for establishing a mounting position of a riflescope. The fixture comprises a base configured to connect to a rifle; the base having opposed standard extending upward and defining a passage configured to receive a rifle scope; a plurality of lateral apertures defined in each standard configured to removable receive lateral supports at a plurality of different levels; a plurality of lateral supports; and a retainer connected to the base and operable to bias the riflescope against the lateral supports.
The Dead On is comprised of:
The Dead On allows the user to rapidly determine proper Scope height and eye relief.
The Outer housings are slid onto the scope rail of the rifle and secured by cross bolts. The Scope cradles are placed into the outer housings and the scope is placed into the Scope cradles.
Lift the scope/Slider and insert the Stop pins. The retaining straps are adjusted to make sure the scope does not fall out during testing.
Now you can shoulder the rifle and check for correct scope mount height. The scope can be moved forward and backward for correct eye relief.
If the scope is too high or low move the stop pin up or down to determine the correct Ring/Unimount height.
Once the correct height is obtained observe the marking on the Scale on the outer housing and cross reference it with scope rings/unimounts available.
This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Pat. Application Number 63/311,086, filed on Feb. 17, 2022, entitled “DEVICE TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT MOUNTING HEIGHT OF AN OPTICAL SIGHT ON A RIFLE”, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety for all that is taught and disclosed therein.
