Abstract
A diabetic sock assembly for protecting a diabetic's feet from abrasions while walking on a granular material includes a sock that may be worn on a foot thereby protecting the foot from granular material while walking. A strap is coupled to the sock and the strap is selectively matable to itself. The strap selectively closes the sock around a leg when the sock is worn thereby inhibiting the granular material from entering the sock. A panel is coupled to the sock and the panel is positioned on the sole. The panel is comprised of a rigid material to protect the foot from the granular material.

The disclosure and prior art relates to sock devices and more particularly pertains to a new sock device for protecting a diabetic's feet from abrasions while walking on a granular material.


BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a sock that may be worn on a foot thereby protecting the foot from granular material while walking. A strap is coupled to the sock and the strap is selectively matable to itself. The strap selectively closes the sock around a leg when the sock is worn thereby inhibiting the granular material from entering the sock. A panel is coupled to the sock and the panel is positioned on the sole. The panel is comprised of a rigid material to protect the foot from the granular material.


There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.


The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new sock device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.


As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the diabetic sock assembly 10 generally comprises a sock 12 that is selectively configured to be worn on a foot 14. The sock 12 is worn by a diabetic user or the like when the diabetic user expects to be walking on sand at a beach or the like. The sock 12 protects the foot 14 from granular material 16 while walking thereby inhibiting the granular material 16 from abrading the foot 14. In this way the sock 12 inhibits the diabetic user from developing potentially life threatening sores on the foot 14 resulting from walking in sand. The sock 12 has a sole 18, a top edge 20 and an outer surface 22.


A strap 24 is coupled to the sock 12 and the strap 24 is selectively matable to itself. Moreover, the strap 24 closes the sock 12 around a leg 25 when the sock 12 is worn. The strap 24 has a distal end 26 with respect to the sock 12 and the strap 24 is positioned on the outer surface 22 of the sock 12. The strap 24 extends around the top edge 20 of the sock 12.


A first mating member 28 is coupled to the strap 24 and the first mating member 28 is spaced from the distal end 26 of the strap 24. A second mating member 30 is coupled to the strap 24 and the second mating member 30 is aligned with the distal end 26 of the strap 24. The second mating member 30 engages the first mating member 28 wherein the strap 24 to close the top edge 20 of the sock 12 around the leg 25. Thus, the sock 12 frictionally engages the leg 25 when the strap 24 closes the top edge 20. In this way the top edge 20 inhibits the granular material 16 from entering the sock 12 and causing abrasions on the foot 14.


A panel 32 is coupled to the sock 12 and the panel 32 is positioned on the sole 18. The panel 32 is comprised of a rigid material to protect the foot 14 from the granular material 16. The panel 32 has a first surface 34 and a second surface 36 and the first surface 34 is coupled to the outer surface 22 of the sock 12 corresponding to the sole 18. The second surface 36 of the panel 32 abuts the granular material 16 when the user walks.


In use, the sock 12 is worn on the foot 14 when the user expects to walk in sand, dirt and other granular material 16. The strap 24 is tightened around the leg 25 and the first mating member 28 is releasably fastened to the second mating member 30. In this way the top edge 20 of the sock 12 is closed around the leg 25. Thus, the granular material 16 is inhibited from entering the sock 12 and causing abrasions on the foot 14. The panel 32 on the sole 18 provides support while walking on the granular material 16 and the panel 32 protects a bottom of the foot 14 from abrasions.


With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.


Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims
  • 1. A diabetic sock assembly being configured to be worn for walking on granular material thereby inhibiting the granular material from contacting feet, said assembly comprising: a sock being configured to be worn on a foot thereby protecting the foot from granular material while walking;a strap being coupled to said sock, said strap being selectively matable to itself wherein said strap is configured to close said sock around a leg when said sock is worn thereby inhibiting the granular material from entering said sock; anda panel being coupled to said sock, said panel being positioned on said sole, said panel being comprised of a rigid material wherein said panel is configured to protect the foot from the granular material.
  • 2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said sock has a sole, a top edge and an outer surface.
  • 3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said sock said strap has a distal end with respect to said sock, said strap being positioned on said outer surface of said sock, said strap extending around said top edge of said sock.
  • 4. The assembly according to claim 3, further comprising a first mating member being coupled to said strap, said first mating member being spaced from said distal end of said strap.
  • 5. The assembly according to claim 4, further comprising a second mating member being coupled to said strap, said second mating member being aligned with said distal end of said strap.
  • 6. The assembly according to claim 5, wherein said second mating member engages said first mating member wherein said strap is configured to close said top edge of said sock around the leg, said sock frictionally engaging the leg when said strap closes said top edge wherein said top edge is configured to inhibit the granular material from entering said sock and causing abrasions on the foot.
  • 7. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said panel has a first surface and a second surface, said first surface being coupled to said outer surface of said sock corresponding to said sole, said second surface of said panel being configured to abut the granular material.
  • 8. A diabetic sock assembly being configured to be worn for walking on granular material thereby inhibiting the granular material from contacting feet, said assembly comprising: a sock being configured to be worn on a foot thereby protecting the foot from granular material while walking, said sock having a sole, a top edge and an outer surface;a strap being coupled to said sock, said strap being selectively matable to itself wherein said strap is configured to close said sock around a leg when said sock is worn, said sock said strap having a distal end with respect to said sock, said strap being positioned on said outer surface of said sock, said strap extending around said top edge of said sock;a first mating member being coupled to said strap, said first mating member being spaced from said distal end of said strap;a second mating member being coupled to said strap, said second mating member being aligned with said distal end of said strap, said second mating member engaging said first mating member wherein said strap is configured to close said top edge of said sock around the leg, said sock frictionally engaging the leg when said strap closes said top edge wherein said top edge is configured to inhibit the granular material from entering said sock and causing abrasions on the foot; anda panel being coupled to said sock, said panel being positioned on said sole, said panel being comprised of a rigid material wherein said panel is configured to protect the foot from the granular material, said panel having a first surface and a second surface, said first surface being coupled to said outer surface of said sock corresponding to said sole, said second surface of said panel being configured to abut the granular material.
