Claims
- 1. A diacetylene compound consisting of the structural units, (a) at least one member selected from the group consisting of diacetylene group-containing organic groups represented by the following general formulae (I) and (II):
- R'--C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R"-- (I)
- and
- --R'"--C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R.sup.IV -- (II)
- wherein R' represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group having 1 to 16 carbon atoms, and R", R'" and R.sup.IV independently represent a divalent organic group having 1 to 13 carbon atoms, (b) at least one organic group having at least one carbon-to-carbon double bond, and (c) at least one connecting group connecting said structural units (a) and (b), said connecting group (c) is an ester bond.
- 2. A diacetylene compound as claimed in claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of the diacetylene derivative (a) represented by the formula (I) or (II) to the double bond containing organic group (b) is in the range of from 0.2 to 5.
- 3. A diacetylene compound as set forth in claim 1, wherein R.sup.II, R.sup.III and R.sup.IV in the formulae independently represent --CH.sub.2 -- or ##STR51##
- 4. A diacetylene polymer consisting of the structural units,
- (a) at least one member selected from the group consisting of a diacetylene derivative of formula (I):
- R'--C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R"-- (I)
- and a diacetylene derivative of formula (II)
- --R'"--C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R.sup.IV -- (II)
- wherein R' is selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.3, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5, and ##STR52## R", R'" and R.sup.IV independently represent a divalent hydrocarbon group selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.2 --, ##STR53## (b) at least one organic group having at least one carbon-to-carbon double bond selected from the group consisting of: ##STR54## (c) at least one connecting group bonded directly to an open valence of each of said structural units (a) and (b), wherein said connecting group (c) is an ester group; and
- (d) at least one chain terminating group, wherein said chain terminating group is bonded directly to an open valence of structural units (a), (b) and (c) and wherein the chain terminating group (d) is selected from the group consisting of ##STR55##
