Claims
- 1. A method of treating microalbuminuria in a human, comprising the steps of:
a) administering a dose of an iron chelator to a human suffering from microalbuminuria having a catalytic iron content in urine exceeding a control sample; b) obtaining a first urine sample from the human; c) measuring catalytic iron content in the first urine sample; and d) comparing the catalytic iron content in the first urine sample with the catalytic iron content in the control sample.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further including the step of administering a subsequent dose of the iron chelator, the amount of the subsequent dose being determined by the comparison of the measured catalytic iron content in the urine sample to the catalytic iron content in the control sample.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein administration of the iron chelator essentially halts progression of microalbuminuria in the human.
