Abstract
A new Dianthus plant designated ‘KLEDG20469’ particularly distinguished by double white flowers and very early flowering, is disclosed.
Description

Genus and species: Dianthus cultivars.

Variety denomination: ‘KLEDG20469’

BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT

The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dianthus, botanically known as Dianthus cultivars, and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDG20469’. ‘KLEDG20469’ originated from a whole plant mutation from the Dianthus parent ‘KLEDG12163’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 24,707) in April 2019 in The Netherlands.

In April 2019, ‘KLEDG20469’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany, and subsequently in Latina, Italy. ‘KLEDG20469’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation in Stuttgart, Germany and Latina, Italy via vegetative stem cuttings.

SUMMARY

The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of ‘KLEDG20469’ when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.

    • 1. Double, white flowers; and
    • 2. Very early flowering.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPH

The new Dianthus plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph of a 16-week-old plant taken in May 2019 grown in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures. The photograph shows a whole plant of ‘KLEDG20469’ showing foliage, buds, and flowers.

DESCRIPTION

The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEDG20469’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Stuttgart, Germany. Data was collected in May 2019 on 7-month old plants grown in a plastic greenhouse. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
