Claims
- 1. A composition for preventing or treating enzyme induced tissue damage comprising an effective amount of a preventative system selected from the groups consisting of a sacrificial enzyme substrate system, an enzyme inhibitor system and mixtures or combinations thereof, where the composition reduces skin irritation due to enzyme activity.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the preventative system comprises a sacrificial enzyme substrate system.
- 3. The composition of claim 2, wherein the sacrificial substrate system comprises a sacrificial lipase substrate and a sacrificial protease substrate.
- 4. The composition of claim 3, wherein the sacrificial lipase substrate comprises hydrolyzable fat, the sacrificial protease substrate comprise natural and synthetic preparations of amino acid residues, Gastrins and Gelatins and wherein the lipase substrate and the protease substrate comprise bifunctional substrates comprising both a fatty acid and amino acid moiety or residue.
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the preventative system comprises an enzyme inhibitor system.
- 6. The composition of claim 5, wherein the enzyme inhibitor system comprises a lipase inhibitor.
- 7. The composition of claim 6, wherein the lipase inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of esterastin, lipstatin, valilactone, tetrahydrolipstatin, panclicin, ebelactone, ajoene and mixtures or combinations thereof.
- 8. The composition of claim 5, wherein the enzyme inhibitor system comprises a protease inhibitor.
- 9. The composition of claim 8, wherein the protease inhibitor comprises a trypsin-chymotrypsin inhibitor.
- 10. The composition of claim 5, wherein the enzyme inhibitor system comprises a lipase inhibitor and a protease inhibitor.
- 11. The composition of claim 10, wherein the lipase inhibitor is esterastin, lipstatin, valilactone, tetrahydrolipstatin, panclicin, ebelactone, ajoene or mixtures or combinations thereof and the protease inhibitor is a trypsin-chymotrypsin inhibitor.
- 12. The composition of claim 1, further comprises chemical adjuvants to control pH between about 3.0 and about 7.0, where the chemical adjuvants comprise inorganic and/or organic buffers with pK's between about 2.0 and about 7.0, weakly basic anion exchange resins of agarose, dextran, cellulose or polystyrene, or mixture or combinations thereof.
- 13. The composition of claim 1, further comprises effective concentrations of therapeutic adjuvants, where the therapeutic adjuvants comprises anti-inflammatory agents, anti-microbial agents, antiboitic agents, hemostatic agents, anaesthetic agents, anti-fungal agents or mixtures or combinations thereof.
- 14. The composition of claim 1, further comprises a performance indicator to monitor the integrity of the enzyme inhibitor system.
- 15. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a carrier.
- 16. The composition of claim 1, comprises an ointment, a topical powder, an aerosol, a spray or an irrigant.
- 17. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is associated with a wipe, a diaper or a training pant.
- 18. The composition of claim 16, wherein the composition is deposited on the surface of a wipe, a diaper or a training pants or the composition is formulated into a part of the wipe, diaper or pants that contact the skin or tissue of human.
- 19. A method for preventing or treating enzyme damage to tissue comprising the step of:
administering to a tissue of an animal an effective amount of a preventative system, where the preventative system is selected from the group consisting of a sacrificial enzyme substrate system, an enzyme inhibitor system and mixtures or combinations thereof, where the system reduces enzyme activity.
- 20. A method for preventing or treating enzyme damage to tissue comprising the step of:
periodically administering to a tissue of an animal an effective amount of a preventative system, where the preventative system is selected from the group consisting of a sacrificial enzyme substrate system, an enzyme inhibitor system and mixtures or combinations thereof, where the system reduces enzyme activity.
- 21. A method for preparing a composition for preventing or treating enzyme damage to tissue comprising the step of:
mixing an effective amount of a preventative system, where the preventative system is selected from the group consisting of a sacrificial enzyme substrate system, an enzyme inhibitor system and mixtures or combinations thereof into a vehicle for a time and at a temperature and pressure to facilitate the formation of a substantially homogeneous composition.
