Claims
- 1. A disposable diaper, comprising: an absorbent pad assembly having a pair of waistline portions, a crotch portion intermediate the waistline portions, a lateral fold in the crotch region along a laterally extending fold line, and means for longitudinally constraining the pad assembly comprising an elastic means extending across the location of the lateral fold line and being unstretched when the diaper is folded and expanded only when the pad assembly is longitudinally unfolded.
- 2. A disposable diaper, comprising: an absorbent pad assembly having an absorbent pad having front and back sides, and at least one lateral fold along a fold line, and elastic means constraining the pad assembly and extending longitudinally across the location of the fold line when the pad assembly is unfolded for use on an infant, said fold including first and second contiguous portions of the pad assembly extending from said fold line, with said first and second portions having first and second surfaces facing each other in said fold, with said elastic means having a portion extending along the pad assembly on one of said pad sides nearest said first and second surfaces, with the distance along said first and second surfaces across the fold line between opposed ends of the elastic means being greater than the length of the elastic means between its ends, and said elastic means being relaxed intermediate its opposed ends while the pad assembly is folded about said fold line.
- 3. The diaper of claim 2 wherein said elastic means has opposed ends secured to said first and second surfaces.
- 4. The diaper of claim 2 wherein the elastic means is located in the crotch region of the pad assembly.
- 5. The diaper of claim 2 wherein the elastic means comprises at least one elastic strip.
- 6. A flat disposable diaper, comprising: an absorbent pad assembly having a front surface, a back surface, a pair of waistline portions, a crotch portion intermediate the waistline portions, a fold of the pad assembly along a lateral fold in said crotch region defining first and second end panels with the back surfaces of said end panels facing each other, and a plurality of elastic strips spaced laterally across the pad assembly, said strips extending across said fold line and having opposed ends respectively secured only to the back surface of said first and second panels, and said strip ends being located so the strips expand when the pad assembly is unfolded about said fold line to longitudinally constrain the pad assembly.
