Abstract
A dice and cards game, including a plurality of dice to facilitate play of a game based on a die roll, each of the plurality of dice including a die body having at least one suit disposed on each side thereof, and a plurality of cards to facilitate play of the game with the plurality of dice.
Description
BACKGROUND
1. Field

The present general inventive concept relates generally to games, and particularly, to a dice and cards game.


2. Description of the Related Art

Many people have developed new activities during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In particular, playing games is a popular social activity, whether it be board games, cards, and/or dice. Games allow people to not only congregate, but be actively engaged in an activity that can stimulate critical thinking and/or logical reasoning skills.


However, many people often find themselves with limited options while playing existing games due to a lack of diversity. Moreover, current dice have fixed faces with no variation.


Therefore, there is a need for a dice and cards game that uses different types of dice and/or cards to facilitate a wider range of gameplay.


SUMMARY

The present general inventive concept provides a dice and cards game.


Additional features and utilities of the present general inventive concept will be set forth in part in the description which follows and, in part, will be obvious from the description, or may be learned by practice of the general inventive concept.


The foregoing and/or other features and utilities of the present general inventive concept may be achieved by providing a dice and cards game, including a plurality of dice to facilitate play of a game based on a die roll, each of the plurality of dice including a die body having at least one suit disposed on each side thereof, and a plurality of cards to facilitate play of the game with the plurality of dice.


Each side of the die body may be a display unit that randomly displays the at least one suit based on the die roll.


Each side of the die body may be blank until at least one of the die body is rolled and the die body contacts an external surface.


Each of the plurality of dice may further include a processing unit disposed within at least a portion of the die body to randomly generate the at least one suit on each side of the die body based on the die roll.

Various example embodiments (a.k.a., exemplary embodiments) will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings in which some example embodiments are illustrated. In the FIGURES, the thicknesses of lines, layers and/or regions may be exaggerated for clarity.


Accordingly, while example embodiments are capable of various modifications and alternative forms, embodiments thereof are shown by way of example in the figures and will herein be described in detail. It should be understood, however, that there is no intent to limit example embodiments to the particular forms disclosed, but on the contrary, example embodiments are to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the scope of the disclosure. Like numbers refer to like/similar elements throughout the detailed description.


It is understood that when an element is referred to as being “connected” or “coupled” to another element, it can be directly connected or coupled to the other element or intervening elements may be present. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being “directly connected” or “directly coupled” to another element, there are no intervening elements present. Other words used to describe the relationship between elements should be interpreted in a like fashion (e.g., “between” versus “directly between,” “adjacent” versus “directly adjacent,” etc.).

FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of a dice and cards game 100, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present general inventive concept.


The dice and cards game 100 may be constructed from at least one of metal, plastic, wood, and rubber, etc., but is not limited thereto.


The dice and cards game 100 may include a plurality of dice 110 and a plurality of cards 120, but is not limited thereto.


Referring to FIG. 1, each of the plurality of dice 110 is illustrated to be a six-sided die. However, each of the plurality of dice 110 may be a four-sided die, an eight-sided die, a ten-sided die, a twelve-sided die, a twenty-sided die, or any other die with a plurality of sides known to one of ordinary skill in the art, but is not limited thereto.


Each of the plurality of dice 110 may include a die body 111, a first side 112, a second side 113, a third side 114, a fourth side 115, a fifth side 116, a sixth side 117, a processing unit 118, and a power source 119, but is not limited thereto.


The die body 111 may be constructed of plastic, acrylic, resin, metal, glass, and/or rubber, but is not limited thereto. Moreover, the die body 111 may be highly durable and/or resistant to damage.


Alternatively, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may include a plasma screen, an LCD screen, a light emitting diode (LED) screen, an organic LED (OLED) screen, a computer monitor, a hologram output unit, a sound outputting unit, or any other type of device that visually or aurally displays data.


Collectively, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may form an entirety of the die body 111. Additionally, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may each have at least one suit disposed thereon. For example, the first side 112 may have a first joker disposed thereon, the second side 113 may have a spade disposed thereon, the third side 114 may have a heart disposed thereon, the fourth side 115 may have a second joker disposed thereon, the fifth side 116 may have a club disposed thereon, and/or the sixth side 117 may have a diamond disposed thereon. As such, depending on a roll of the die body 111 on an external surface (e.g., a table, countertop, ground surface), the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may be oriented face up toward a user, which identifies a played suit based on the die roll.


It is important to note that the plurality of dice 110 may not use numbers and/or dots like conventional dice. The plurality of dice 110 may provide different style of play, such that the suits may provide alternative recognition and/or memory applications.


The processing unit 118 (or central processing unit, CPU) may include electronic circuitry to carry out instructions of a computer program by performing basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations specified by the instructions. The processing unit 118 may include an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) that performs arithmetic and logic operations, processor registers that supply operands to the ALU and store the results of ALU operations, and a control unit that fetches instructions from memory and “executes” them by directing the coordinated operations of the ALU, registers and other components. The processing unit 118 may also include a microprocessor and a microcontroller.


The processing unit 118 may be disposed within at least a portion of the die body 111. The processing unit 118 may have a program running thereon that randomly generates the at least one suit for the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 based on the die roll. In other words, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may appear blank until the die body 111 is rolled and/or contacts the external surface. As such, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 may display the at least one suit in response to the die body 111 contacting the external surface and/or the die body 111 is rolled.


Furthermore, the processing unit 118 may adjust the at least one suit display on the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, and/or the sixth side 117 after a predetermined period of time (e.g., ten seconds, twenty seconds, thirty seconds, sixty seconds) in response to the processing unit 118 determining the die body 111 has been rolled twice within a five second time frame and/or each of the plurality of dice 110 have contacted each other by the user instead of based on the die roll. For example, the processing unit 118 may adjust the club on the fifth side 116 to the first joker and/or the spade on the second side 113 may be changed to the heart. In other words, the processing unit 118 may randomize results, such that players may have to adjust scoring and/or tactics during play.


The power source 119 may include a battery and a solar cell, but is not limited thereto.


The power source 119 may be disposed within at least a portion of the die body 111. The power source 119 may provide power to the die body 111, the first side 112, the second 113, the third side 114, the fourth side 115, the fifth side 116, the sixth side 117, and/or the processing unit 118.


The plurality of cards 120 may include a deck of cards, but is not limited thereto.


Each of the plurality of cards 120 may include at least one color (e.g., red, black) and at least one suit (e.g., heart, club, spade, diamond) disposed thereon. Additionally, each of the plurality of cards 120 may have a rank (e.g., A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K) disposed thereon. The plurality of cards 120 may facilitate play during games.


During play, a number of the plurality of dice 110 may be twenty dice. However, less dice and/or more dice may be used depending on a number of players and/or a type of game. Similarly, a number of the plurality of cards 120 may be fifty-two cards. However, less cards and/or more cards may be used depending on the number of players and/or the type of game.


The random and diverse range of the plurality of dice 110 and/or the plurality of cards 120 may provide a wide range of types of games to be played. The dice and cards game 100 may require players to acquire the highest collection of the plurality of dice 110 to win. Alternatively, the dice and cards game 100 may be played using a suit for suit game that requires the players to lose all of the plurality of dice 110 they may hold in order to win.


Additionally, the single suits wild game may require each player to pick a different and/or preferred suit where the players each play roll for roll and/or speed roll at least one of the plurality of dice 110 at a time depending on decided play before the round to determine the winner. Once at least one of the plurality of dice 110 lands on at least one suit, the players may move to at least one other of the plurality of dice 110 until all dice have revealed a suit match hit for players. In this game, leaving the first joker and/or the second joker may count as wild which can be chosen to become any other suit (e.g., heart, club, spade, diamond).


Therefore, the dice and cards game 100 may provide a wide variety of gameplay due to having different types of the plurality of dice 110 and/or use of the plurality of cards 120. Also, the dice and cards game 100 may challenge players due to randomization during play.


The present general inventive concept may include a dice and cards game 100, including a plurality of dice 110 to facilitate play of a game based on a die roll, each of the plurality of dice 110 including a die body 111 having at least one suit disposed on each side thereof, and a plurality of cards 120 to facilitate play of the game with the plurality of dice 110.


Each side of the die body 111 may be a display unit that randomly displays the at least one suit based on the die roll.


Each side of the die body 111 may be blank until at least one of the die body 111 is rolled and the die body 111 contacts an external surface.


Each of the plurality of dice 110 may further include a processing unit 118 disposed within at least a portion of the die body 111 to randomly generate the at least one suit on each side of the die body 111 based on the die roll.


Although a few embodiments of the present general inventive concept have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the general inventive concept, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.

Claims
  • 1. A dice and cards game, comprising: a plurality of dice to facilitate play of a game based on a die roll, each of the plurality of dice comprising: a die body having at least one suit disposed on each side thereof; anda plurality of cards to facilitate play of the game with the plurality of dice.
  • 2. The dice and cards game of claim 1, wherein each side of the die body is a display unit that randomly displays the at least one suit based on the die roll.
  • 3. The dice and cards game of claim 1, wherein each side of the die body is blank until at least one of the die body is rolled and the die body contacts an external surface.
  • 4. The dice and cards game of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of dice further comprises: a processing unit disposed within at least a portion of the die body to randomly generate the at least one suit on each side of the die body based on the die roll.
