The present invention relates generally to the field of dice games. More specifically, the present invention relates to a modified dice toss game comprising of three enlarged dice and a noise reducing game board, wherein the three dice are rolled against the game board at once (i.e., simultaneously) to determine different point outcomes. The modified dice toss game allows users to use the same game for playing according to two different sets of scoring charts. The game offers a way to keep individuals entertained at different social gatherings like birthday parties, picnics, camping trips, and more. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
By way of background, individuals may enjoy playing indoor and outdoor games at different social events like birthday parties, family reunions, tailgates, and more. There exists a plurality of games known in the state of the art to keep individuals entertained at parties and other similar occasions. Card games, board games, casino, and more are generally played at social gatherings to involve the gathered individuals in a fun-filled manner. However, standard card games and board games can accommodate a limited number of participants and not all the individuals can play the single game together. Some individuals may feel left out in the party and therefore may not enjoy the party at all. Also, individuals playing the same types of games over and over can get bored and may desire to play new games.
Further, some games may require special knowledge and a certain degree of skills to play the game properly. However, due to lack of knowledge/skills, individuals may not enjoy playing such games and may be reluctant to participate in games at parties and may eventually get bored. Furthermore, some of the heretofore known games involve very complicated sets of rules that may be difficult to remember or follow, thereby causing inconvenience while playing such games. Individuals may not enjoy playing such games as their focus may shift frequently in looking out for the rules. Children may not be comfortable in playing games with rules that cannot be easily followed while playing the game.
The conventional board and card games have common sets of rules that make the games quite monotonous for the players. Individuals can play a single type of game on the existing gaming board and may not be able to incorporate varying gameplay while utilizing the same gaming board.
Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a game that can be easily played by individuals at social events like birthday parties, family reunions, tailgates, etc. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a novel gaming board and a method of playing the board game that can accommodate an unlimited number of participants at any gathering. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that ensures an individual does not feel left out and is involved in the gaming activity at any party or other similar occasions. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that ensures all individuals are enjoying themselves at a social event. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that is novel and ensures individuals are not bored at parties. Furthermore, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that does not require special knowledge or skillset for playing the game and can be played by all the individuals. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that has an easy set of rules that can be easily remembered and can be conveniently followed by all the individuals. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a novel board game that breaks the monotony at social events and ensures all individuals are fully entertained.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a multipurpose dice toss game played as per predefined scoring charts. The game features three oversized dice that are rolled or tossed at a game board to achieve different outcomes. The dice are tossed against the board from a distance, i.e., at least nine feet, for accumulating the points. The player to reach 23-points without going over within first nine rounds is declared as the winner. If players have scores less than 23-points, then, the game moves to a sudden death round where a player with the highest score wins the game. Any players tied after nine rounds continue until a winner is determined. The scoring charts positioned on the game board are used for calculating points for players and, in each round, three dice are tossed at once thrice. A player scoring more than 23-points loses the game.
In this manner, the multipurpose dice game of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with a modified dice toss game in which three dice are rolled against a game board to determine different point outcomes. The game features an easy-to-follow set of rules for both children and adults to play the game. The game offers a way to keep individuals entertained at different social gatherings like birthday parties, picnics, camping trips, and more.

As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a game that can be easily played by individuals at social events, for example, birthday parties, family reunions, tailgates, etc. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a novel gaming board and a method of playing the board game that can accommodate an unlimited number of participants at any gathering. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that ensures an individual does not feel left out and is involved in the gaming activity at a party or other similar occasions. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that ensures all individuals are enjoying themselves at a social event. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that is novel and ensures individuals are not bored at parties. Furthermore, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that does not require special knowledge or skillset for playing the game and can be played by all the individuals present. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a game that has an easy set of rules that can be easily remembered and can be conveniently followed by all the individuals. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a novel board game that breaks the monotony at social events and ensures all individuals are fully entertained.
The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel method of playing a dice game using a board game. The method comprising tossing three enlarged dice in one turn and rolling the three dice thrice to complete a round wherein the dice are used for different points outcome, said rolling of dice is done against the board game wherein the board game stands on the floor; completing a round of play, said round of play is completed once all the players playing the game have rolled the dice thrice; calculating a score for each player, said calculation of said score is derived from score charts positioned on said board game and displaying all possible scoring options for numbers rolled by the players; accumulating points during each round for purposes of calculating a cumulative score of 23 within nine rounds for winning the game and wherein a player scoring a cumulative score of more than 23 in or before nine rounds loses the game.
The present invention is a dice game that includes three oversized dice and a game board (as shown in
In the present invention, the first player can be selected in a conventional manner, such as a coin flip or the rolling of single die. The person starting the game may be the player that rolls the highest point value on the single die. The game board has score charts and rules engraved or affixed thereon.
Specifically, the game provides two game options for the users to play. Each game is played by at least two players, and each player tosses all three dice at once. In the preferred embodiment, all the players must be a predetermined distance, for example at least nine feet, from the game board while tossing the three dice, all the dice must hit off the gameboard. Further, no player is allowed to retrieve their own dice after each throw.
In the first game option, generally referred to as “923” option, the game can be played by any number of players. The “923” option consists of nine rounds wherein each player is required to reach 23-points without going over. In the “923” option, each player gets three rolls of the dice for scoring points based on the provided scores in Table A with various number combinations. If a player gets a combination of numbers on the dice that is not listed on the scoring of Table A, or a total of the three dice are not identified on the scoring of Table A, then no score is given to the player. Table A below identifies eight distinct combinations from a roll of three dice (i.e., a turn). It is to be appreciated that there are 16 distinct totals or sums (i.e., between a total of 3 through 18) that can result from the roll or throw of three dice. Therefore, a combination of the three dice resulting in a sum or total of 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16, and 17, not accounted for in the scoring of Table A, would result in a score of zero for that round. Thus, the probability that a throw of three dice results in a sum of 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16, and 17 is 8 out of 16 (i.e., 50%). Additionally, players that do not roll a combination identified in Table A, also receive a score of zero. In situations where a player goes over 23 points within nine rounds, then, the player loses the game. Further, if at the end of nine rounds, all the players do not reach 23 points, then a tenth round of the “923” option becomes a sudden death round which is also referred to as “236” option.
In the “923” option, three rolls are provided per player. Table A provides an exemplary scoring chart for the “923” option.
Importantly, the combination 135 and 246 are the only two combinations that can be modified before the start of the game. Additionally, the 10 push-ups or 10 sit up activities are optional outcomes.
Table B illustrates an exemplary score chart of “936” game option. In the exemplary score chart, in round 3, player 1 rolls 456 which, as per score chart in Table A, has associated 2× point, must roll a point. The player 1 rolls the dice and gets 2 as the point. So, as per the rule, player 1's score is updated to 11, i.e., 2*(2)+7 (sum of the score of the previous round(s)).
For player 2, the score after 2nd round is 8 and rolls “236” in round 3. As per the score chart for “236”, the player scores a ‘923 gameplay’ and scores the designated 14 points. Then player 2 adds 14 points to the previous sum of the earlier rounds (i.e., 8) to make a total of 22 points after round 3.
For player 3, the score after 2nd round is 3 and rolls “234” in round 3. As per the score chart for “234”, a player can score 9 points and get an extra roll of a single die. Accordingly, player 3 gets one point in the extra roll of die and thus, the total score becomes 9+1+3=13 points after 3rd round.
Points are calculated in a similar manner for subsequent rounds until the 9th round for each player as per the score chart and if each player has cumulative points less than 23 points then 10th round of the game becomes a sudden death 236 game option.
Table C illustrates an exemplary score chart for game transition from “923” to “236” sudden death option. As shown, in the 9th round, the score of each of player is less than 23. Player 1 has a score of 18 points, player 2 has a score of 14 points and player 3 has a score of 16 points. It should be noted that in the extra rounds, triples and straights are not valid.
As illustrated in Table C, player 1 scored three points in 4th round and rolled 555 in 9th round to score a cumulative of 18 points (3+15). Player 2 rolled 236 combinations in 4th round and scored 14 points as per the score chart and thus has 14 points in nine rounds. Player 3 rolled a 345 combination in 6th round and thus gets two extra rolls of a die in which the player 3 gets two points in each of the two rolls and in 9th round rolls a 444 triplet and thus has a total score of 16 points ((2+2=4)+12). Now, after nine rounds, all the players have a score less than 23 points, therefore the game moves to 10th round which is sudden death round. In the sudden death round, each players gets three die rolls and the player who gets the highest point total wins the game.
As shown, player 1 rolls a 345 combination and scores 12 points. Player 2 rolls a 236 combination and scores 11 points. Player 3 rolls a 444 combination and scores 12 points. Accordingly, players 1 and 3 tie and then move onto a further 11th round with the same rules of the sudden death round to decide a winner.
It should be noted that 923 game option turns into 236 game option after nine rounds. Alternatively, the players can choose to play directly 236 game option having separate rules of 236 game option.
In the second game option, generally referred to as “236” option, the game can be played by any number of players. The “236” option is a one round game where a player having the highest points wins the game. Players roll three dice and scores if the dice match the outcomes listed in Table D. Totals of 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16, and 17 are combinations that do not result in any match on the score chart shown in Table D and thus result in a score of zero. Additionally, players that do not roll a combination identified in Table D, also receive a score of zero.
Referring initially to the drawings,
The game 100 includes a gameboard 102 having a front surface 110 and a rear surface 112. The front surface 110 includes an engraved or embossed 923 score chart and 236 score chart. Three oversized dice 104,106,108, each having the numerical values “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, “5” and “6” with a separate value on each separate face are thrown by a user. The user stands a predetermined distance away from the board 102 (i.e., nine feet) and all three dice are required to be tossed against the board 102 for a valid roll.
The game board 102 is constructed using plywood that folds open along an edge 114 using a pair of hinges 116. The game board 102 also features a handle 118 that functions as a carrying handle for the board 102. The board 102 may have doors configured to cover the front surface 110 of the board 102 when the board 102 is not being actively used during play a game.
The dice 104,106,108 are wood block and can be wrapped with black gorilla or duct tape. Further, the number on each face can be made by flat head nails or other planar hardware. Additionally, a scorecard book containing scorecards for logging points may also be a part of the game 100.
The board 102 is preferably made from a noise reducing material configured for muting noise when the dice are tossed against the game board 102. The board 102 includes a height from about 12″ to about 24″ and a width from about 12″ to about 20″.
The invention is also directed to a game set constructed for playing the dice game described above. In a preferred embodiment, the game set contains at least three dice wherein each die includes an individual number of “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, “5”, and “6” on a side of the die. The dice have an equal number of consecutive numerical values with one numerical value per face or side. The game set also contains a game board having score charts describing the scoring rules of the game as set forth above. The score charts can be in any form, including as an insert, an engraving, or a printing on the front surface of the game board.
While the described embodiment of present invention has a game board 102 and wooden dice 104,106,108, it is contemplated to be within the scope of the present invention that the game could also be fashioned either in part or whole electronically or rendered in part or whole in computer software and hardware. More specifically but not by way of limitation, a software program could be utilized to manage the game.
