- 13. A method of configuring a multimedia personal computer, the computer including a display screen, the method comprising the steps of:
interfacing a hand microphone to the multimedia personal computer, the hand microphone including a plurality of control switches for controlling dictation functions; displaying a plurality of configuration options on the display screen of the computer, the configuration options for establishing respective responses by the computer to actuation of the plurality of control switches of the hand microphone; and programming functions of the control switches based on the displayed configuration options.
- 14. A method of configuring a multimedia personal computer, the computer including a display screen, the method comprising the steps of:
interfacing a foot pedal to the multimedia personal computer, the foot pedal including a plurality of control switches; displaying a plurality of configuration options on the display screen of the computer, the configuration options for establishing respective responses by the computer to actuation of the plurality of control switches of the foot pedal; and programming functions of the control switches based on the displayed configuration options.

- 20. The method according to claim 13 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to create, upon actuation thereof, an email message file on the multimedia personal computer.
- 21. The method according to claim 20 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to append, upon actuation thereof, the voice information file to the email message file on the multimedia personal computer.
- 22. The method according to claim 21 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to transmit, upon actuation thereof, the email message file with the appended voice information file to a second personal computer electronically connected to the multimedia personal computer.
- 23. The method according to claim 22 further comprising the step of transmitting the voice information file into a predetermined storage location of the second personal computer.
- 24. The method according to claim 23 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to audibly reproduce, upon actuation thereof, the voice information file at the second personal computer.
- 25. The method according to claim 24 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to input, upon actuation thereof, to the second personal computer a text file corresponding to the voice information file.
- 26. A method of configuring a multimedia personal computer, the computer including a display screen, the method comprising the steps of:
providing an interface to the multimedia personal computer, the interface including a plurality of control switches for controlling dictation functions; displaying a plurality of configuration options on the display screen of the multimedia personal computer, the configuration options for establishing respective responses by the multimedia personal computer to actuation of the plurality of control switches of the interface; and programming functions of the control switches based on the displayed configuration options.
- 27. The method according to claim 26, wherein the interface is a handheld microphone for inputting a voice information file into a storage location on the multimedia personal computer, the method further comprising the steps of programming at least one control switch and setting at least one configuration option of the multimedia personal computer to transmit, upon actuation of the respective programmed at least one control switch, the voice information file to a second personal computer by means of an electronic mail system.
- 28. The method according to claim 27 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to create, upon actuation thereof, an email message file in the multimedia personal computer.
- 29. The method according to claim 28 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to append, upon actuation thereof, the voice information file to the email message file on the multimedia personal computer.
- 30. The method according to claim 29 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to transmit, upon actuation thereof, the email message file with the appended voice information file to the second personal computer.
- 31. The method according to claim 30 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to audibly reproduce, upon actuation thereof, the voice information file at the second personal computer.
- 32. The method according to claim 31 further comprising the step of programming at least one control switch to input, upon actuation thereof, to the second personal computer a text file corresponding to the voice information file.
- 33. The method according to claim 32 further comprising the step of transmitting the voice information file into a predetermined storage location of the second personal computer.
