Claims
- 1. In combination:
a material cutting device for cutting material using blade-cut dies, said device including a base, press means mounted on and spaced from said base operative to exert force towards said base and press engagement means operatively connected to said press means to drive said press means towards said base; and a die retention pallet comprising an open-top box having a base wall and at least two opposite side walls mounted on and extending upwards from said base wall, said die retention pallet dimensioned to fit within said material cutting device between said base and said press means of said material cutting device; die cover means, having opposite sides and opposite ends, for covering material to be cut and a blade-cut die removably supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet; said die retention pallet being placed between said press means and said base of said material cutting device such that upon said press engagement means engaging said press means thereby driving said press means towards said base, said press means engages said die cover means above a blade-cut die thereby forcing said die cover means into contact with a blade-cut die supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet whereby material to be cut sandwiched between said die cover means and a blade-cut die is cut in a shape designated by the blade-cut die.
- 2. The combination of claim 1 wherein one end of said die cover means is pivotally and vertically movably secured to one end of said die retention pallet.
- 3. The combination of claim 2 wherein said base wall of said die retention pallet is generally rectangular having four sides.
- 4. The combination of claim 3 wherein said die retention pallet includes at least three generally upright side walls, one mounted adjacent each of at least three of said sides of said base wall, thereby forming said open-top box.
- 5. The combination of claim 2 wherein said die cover means comprises a die cover lid which is generally flat and generally rectangular and is constructed of a urethane rubber compound which has memory, such that the indentations and/or cuts which are formed in said die cover lid as a result of partial razor blade insertion from a blade-cut die will substantially reseal whereby the usable lifespan of said die cover lid is lengthened.
- 6. The combination of claim 2 wherein said material cutting device comprises a stationary rotatable press roller mounted above and generally parallel with at least one base roller, said press roller being rotated to draw said die support pallet between said press roller and said base roller, thereby forcing said die cover means downwards thus pressing material to be cut downwards onto a blade-cut die thus cutting the desired design from the material.
- 7. The combination of claim 6 wherein said die retention pallet further comprises two series of spaced-apart finger-receiving holes formed in opposite side walls of said pallet and said material cutting device further comprises two outer wheels mounted on the ends of said press roller each of which include radially projecting fingers such that said pallet is operative to be fed through said material cutting device by intermeshing of said fingers of said outer wheels with said finger-receiving holes on said pallet whereby as said press roller rotates, said outer wheels likewise rotate and as each of said fingers engage the subsequent finger-receiving hole, said pallet is drawn through said device under said press roller, thereby cutting the material within said pallet.
- 8. A die retention pallet comprising:
an open-top rigid box having a generally rectangular base wall and at least three side walls mounted on and extending upwards from said base wall, said die retention pallet dimensioned to fit within a material cutting device; die cover means pivotably and vertically mounted on at least one of said side walls of said open-top box, said die cover means operative to cover a blade-cut die removably supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet; said die cover means constructed of a semi-rigid material having memory, whereby indentations and cuts which are formed in said die cover means as a result of partial razor blade insertion will generally reseal thereby increasing the usable lifespan of said die cover means; and said die retention pallet and said die cover means cooperating to sandwich a blade-cut die and material to be cut therebetween such that upon said die cover means being forced into contact with a blade-cut die supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet, material to be cut sandwiched between said die cover means and a blade-cut die is cut in a shape designated by the blade-cut die.
- 9. A die retention pallet comprising:
an open-top rigid box having a generally rectangular base wall and at least two side walls mounted on and extending upwards from said base wall, said die retention pallet dimensioned to fit within a material cutting device; die cover means, having opposite sides and opposite ends, vertically mounted on said open-top rigid box for covering a material modifying die removably supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet; and said die retention pallet and said die cover means cooperating to sandwich a material modifying die and material to be cut therebetween such that upon said die cover means being forced into contact with said material modifying die supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet, material to be modified sandwiched between said die cover means and said material modifying die is modified in a shape designated by the material modifying die.
- 10. The combination of claim 9 wherein one end of said die cover means is pivotally and vertically movably secured to one end of said die retention pallet, whereby said die cover means is pivotably movable between open and closed positions and wherein said one end of said die cover means is vertically movable between upper and lower positions, with respect to said pallet, when said die cover means is in said closed position.
- 11. In combination:
a material pressing device for modifying planar material using material modifying dies, said device including a base, press means mounted on and spaced from said base operative to exert force towards said base and press engagement means operatively connected to said press means to drive said press means towards said base; and a die retention pallet comprising an open-top box having a base wall and at least two opposite side walls mounted on and extending upwards from said base wall, said die retention pallet dimensioned to fit within said material pressing device between said base and said press means of said material pressing device; die cover means, having opposite sides and opposite ends, mounted on said die retention pallet for covering material to be cut and a material modifying die removably supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet; said die retention pallet being placed between said press means and said base of said material pressing device such that upon said press engagement means engaging said press means thereby driving said press means to exert force towards said base, said press means engages said die cover means above a material modifying die thereby forcing said die cover means into contact with a material modifying die supported on said base wall of said die retention pallet whereby planar material to be modified sandwiched between said die cover means and a material modifying die is modified in a shape designated by the material modifying die.
- 12. The combination of claim 10 wherein one end of said die cover means is pivotally and vertically movably secured to one end of said die retention pallet.
