Claims
- 1. A dielectric active medium for lasers which consists of a tetraphosphate single crystal whose chemical structure is expressed by the general formula:
- XM.sub.z M'.sub.1.sub.-z P.sub.4 O.sub.12 (0<z.ltoreq.1)
- where:
- X = at least one of alkali metal elements Li and Na
- M = element of neodymium
- M'= at least one rare earth element selected from the group consisting of yttrium, lanthanum and gadolinium.
- 2. A dielectric active medium for lasers according to claim 1, wherein the single crystal has a composition of LiNdP.sub.4 O.sub.12.
- 3. A dielectric active medium for lasers according to claim 1, wherein the single crystal has a composition of NaNdP.sub.4 O.sub.12.
- 4. A dielectric active medium for lasers according to claim 1, wherein the single crystal has a composition of LiNd.sub.0.5 Gd.sub.0.5 P.sub.4 O.sub.12.
