Claims
- 1. A stable dietary supplement composition for maintaining and improving skin condition comprising as active ingredients:
a) lycopene, b) carotenoids, c) biotin, d) chromium, and e) selenium.
- 2. The dietary supplement composition of claim 1 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 3. The dietary supplement composition of claim 1 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 4. The dietary supplement composition of claim 3 where in all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 5. The dietary supplement composition of claim 3 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 6. The dietary supplement composition of claim 5 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 7. The dietary supplement composition of claim 1 further comprising an effective amount of one or more of the following active ingredients:
a) vitamin A, b) vitamin C, c) calcium, d) iron, e) vitamin D, f) vitamin E, g) vitamin K, h) thiamine, i) riboflavin, j) niacin, k) vitamin B6, l) folate, m) vitamin B12, n) pantothenic acid, o) phosphorus, p) iodine, q) magnesium, r) zinc, s) copper, t) manganese, u) molybdenum, v) chloride, and w) nickel.
- 8. The dietary supplement composition of claim 7 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 9. The dietary supplement composition of claim 7 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 10. The dietary supplement composition of claim 9 where in all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 11. The dietary supplement composition of claim 9 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 12. The dietary supplement composition of claim 11 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 13. A stable dietary supplement composition for maintaining and improving skin condition comprising as active ingredients:
a) 0.5 to 500 mg lycopene, b) 0.05 to 1.5 mg carotenoids, c) 30 mcg to 120 mg biotin, d) 2 to 2000 mcg chromium, and e) 5 to 50 mcg selenium.
- 14. The dietary supplement composition of claim 13 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 15. The dietary supplement composition of claim 13 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 16. The dietary supplement composition of claim 15 where in all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 17. The dietary supplement composition of claim 15 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 18. The dietary supplement composition of claim 17 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 19. The dietary supplement composition of claim 13 further comprising one or more of the following active ingredients:
a) 50 to 20,000 IU vitamin A, b) 50 to 1000 mg vitamin C, c) 30 to 1200 IU vitamin E, d) 2.5 to 25 mg riboflavin, e) 2.5 to 25 mg vitamin B6, f) 40 to 800 mcg folate, g) 30 to 600 mg calcium, h) 5 to 100 mg zinc, i) 0.2 to 10 mg copper, j) 0.2 to 10 mg manganese, and k) 0.2 to 100 mg silicon.
- 20. The dietary supplement composition of claim 19 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 21. The dietary supplement composition of claim 19 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 22. The dietary supplement composition of claim 21 where in all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 23. The dietary supplement composition of claim 21 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 24. The dietary supplement composition of claim 23 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 25. A stable dietary supplement composition for maintaining and improving skin condition comprising as active ingredients:
a) 1 to 200 mg lycopene, b) 0.1 to 1.0 mg carotenoids, c) 30 mcg to 120 mg biotin, d) 2 to 2000 mcg chromium, and e) 5 to 50 mcg selenium.
- 26. The dietary supplement composition of claim 25 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 27. The dietary supplement composition of claim 25 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 28. The dietary supplement composition of claim 27 wherein all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 29. The dietary supplement composition of claim 27 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 30. The dietary supplement composition of claim 29 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 31. The dietary supplement composition of claim 25 further comprising one or more of the following active ingredients:
a) 75 to 750 IU vitamin A, b) 75 to 750 mg vitamin C, c) 30 to 600 IU vitamin E, d) 5 to 15 mg riboflavin, e) 5 to 15 mg vitamin B6, f) 100 to 500 mcg folate, g) 100 to 400 mg calcium, h) 25 to 75 mg zinc, i) 1 to 5 mg copper, j) 1 to 7.5 mg manganese, and k) 1 to 50 mg silicon.
- 32. The dietary supplement composition of claim 31 wherein the composition comprises a tablet, powder, capsule, wafer, liquid or liquid filled capsule.
- 33. The dietary supplement composition of claim 31 wherein the composition is a tablet.
- 34. The dietary supplement composition of claim 33 wherein all of the active ingredients are incorporated into the tablet core.
- 35. The dietary supplement composition of claim 33 wherein the tablet is coated.
- 36. The dietary supplement composition of claim 35 wherein the tablet coating contains at least one of the following: selenium, chromium.
- 37. A method of improving the health of the skin of an animal comprising administration of a dietary supplement formulation comprising:
a) lycopene, b) carotenoids, c) biotin, d) chromium, and e) selenium.
- 38. The method of claim 37 in which the dietary supplement formulation comprises:
a) 0.5 to 500 mg lycopene, b) 0.05 to 1.5 mg carotenoids, c) 30 mcg to 120 mg biotin, d) 2 to 2000 mcg chromium, and e) 5 to 50 mcg selenium
- 39. The method of claim 37 in which the dietary supplement formulation further comprises:
a) vitamin A, b) vitamin C, c) calcium, d) iron, e) vitamin D, f) vitamin E, g) vitamin K, h) thiamine, i) riboflavin, j) niacin, k) vitamin B6, l) folate, m) vitamin B12, n) pantothenic acid, o) phosphorus, p) iodine, q) magnesium, r) zinc, s) copper, t) manganese, u) molybdenum, v) chloride, and w) nickel.
- 40. The method of claim 38 in which the dietary supplement formulation further comprises:
a) 50 to 20,000 IU vitamin A, b) 50 to 1000 mg vitamin C, c) 30 to 1200 IU vitamin E, d) 2.5 to 25 mg riboflavin, e) 2.5 to 25 mg vitamin B6, f) 40 to 800 mcg folate, g) 30 to 600 mg calcium, h) 5 to 100 mg zinc, i) 0.2 to 10 mg copper, j) 0.2 to 10 mg manganese, and k) 0.2 to 100 mg silicon.
- 41. The method of claim 37 in which the dietary supplement formulation comprises:
a) 1 to 200 mg lycopene, b) 0.1 to 1.0 mg carotenoids, c) 30 mcg to 120 mg biotin, d) 2 to 2000 mcg chromium, and e) 5 to 50 mcg selenium.
- 42. The method of claim 41 in which the dietary supplement formulation further comprises:
a) 75 to 750 IU vitamin A, b) 75 to 750 mg vitamin C, c) 30 to 600 IU vitamin E, d) 5 to 15 mg riboflavin, e) 5 to 15 mg vitamin B6, f) 100 to 500 mcg folate, g) 100 to 400 mg calcium, h) 25 to 75 mg zinc, i) 1 to 5 mg copper, j) 1 to 7.5 mg manganese, and k) 1 to 50 mg silicon.
- 43. A stable dietary supplement composition for maintaining and improving skin condition comprising:
a) 3500 IU vitamin A, b) 120 mg vitamin C, c) 60 IU vitamin E, d) 8.5 mg riboflavin, e) 10 mg vitamin B6, f) 400 mcg folate, g) 600 mcg biotin, h) 270 mg calcium, i) 45 mg zinc, j) 50 mcg selenium, k) 2 mg copper, l) 5 mg manganese, m) 200 mcg chromium, n) 5 mg lycopene, and o) 20 mg silicon.
- 44. The dietary supplement of claim 1 in which the dietary supplement is packaged for increased stability.
- 45. The packaged dietary supplement of claim 44 in which the packaging is comprised of one or more of the following materials: plastics, metals, glass, cellulose and paper.
