Claims
- 1. A method for preparing a dry differential flotation reagent for molybdenum-bearing ore comprising the steps of:
- (a) reacting P.sub.4 S.sub.10 with an alkali mixture of NaOH and NaSH in a molar ratio of P.sub.4 S.sub.10 to alkali of from about 1:15 to about 1:17, said mixture containing at least about 50 mole percent of NaOH, and
- (b) drying the reaction mixture.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the alkali mixture of NaOH and NaSH contains at least about 75 mole percent NaOH.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the alkali mixture contains 100 mole percent NaOH.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein water is removed from the reaction mixture by distillation prior to drying.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein the evaporation is conducted at a temperature in the range of from about 70.degree. C. to about 90.degree. C. and a pressure in the range of from about 50 mm to about 100 mm Hg.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the reaction is conducted at a temperature in the range of from about 50.degree. C. to about 70.degree. C.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the reaction mixture is flash dried at a temperature in the range of from about 130.degree. C. to about 170.degree. C.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein said molar ratio is about 1:16.
- 9. A product prepared according to the method of claim 1.
- 10. A product prepared according to the method of claim 7.
